Bond 19 news from UK with PICS!!!

Published at:  Mar 09, 1999 2:38:47 AM CST

Somewhere in the vastness of Vegas, Moriarty is hunting... Hunting for some sort of news from ShoWest, but in the meanwhile... while we tap our fingers upon our legs, desks and papers awaiting the dear Professor's tardy report, we will scan about for news from elsewhere.... For example this bit about BOND 19 from the UK.... And it's from a tasty spy indeed...

I am sure like many I am a long time reader first time writer, and whilst watching the Big Breakfast over here in England just now there was
another James Bond 19 report. Before that I just wanted to say how sad I am at the passing of the great Stanley Kubrick, whom I felt was a true
cinematic genius who never let himself overtake the importance of his work. Unlike so many high profile Hollywood directors he let his films
speak for themselves, a unique man who will never be replaced.

This morning whilst getting ready for work and watching the British show the Big Breakfast I just saw the latest report on James Bond 19: The
World Is Not Enough. Here is the low down Harry:

1) They have just gone to Blibaeu in Europe to film the Googenheim Museum (Excuse my spelling).

2) Michael Apted said he wanted to film the Googenheim due to its whole Contempary Millenium feal.

3) Pierce explained the scene they were just filming and it went like this:
Bond is doing a deal with 4 bad guys and it goes sour and to escape he wraps a curtain sash around the leg of one of the bad guys and jumps
out the window.

4) They showed the whole stunt sequence being filmed which was cool the poor old stuntman had to do it without a safety net. It looks like a
real cool james bond style bungee jump out of a three floor building.

Classic stuff,

    Nope...

...there may be a Guggenheim museum in NYC, but THE Guggenheim Museum is in Bilbao which is the capital city of the Spanish province Bizkaia. Not everything is in the United States....

    Yep

Now let's not turn this into American arrogance . . . There is a rather famous Guggenheim in NYC - If I'm right, you might remember it from the opening chase scene in Men In Black, where Will Smith's character chases that alien up on the roof. That's the Guggenheim. What makes it so famous is the fact that it's a large ramp . . . oh ,heck, you probably knew that anyways.

Wherever the Guggenheim is, the pics looked pretty awesome. This is gonna be the biggest Bond ever. At least bankwise. This movie is the true action hit of next year. Inspired the Mission Impossible goofs. No one does it better than Bond.

was there a bond movie in 1980?

    by l'auteur

I was just wondering because that year also had EMPIRE and the SHINING. I was gonna say, how often do we get STAR WARS, KUBRICK, and BOND all in the same year?! 1999 has turned into the year of permanent erection for L'Auteur! As much as TOMORROW NEVER DIES sucked, im optimistic that TWINE will rock. The producers said that they understood how TND's bond was too over the top and that they'll tone down his action (which will enhance his coolness) for this one. Here's hoping...

    Any old heim!!

Thanks for the spelling correction on Bilbao & Guggenheim. I was in my pre-work must have coffee before aware of real world phase!!

From everything I have heard about Bond 19 they are trying to give you the rush of the stunts of TND, but with the spy edge & class of the Sean Connery movies.

Here's hoping they pull it off!!!

On a final note I think it would be a wondeful touch if next years best director oscar finally went to Stanley Kubrick. For what he & many other have been rumouring as his best film!!!

Nothing amuses me more than displays of ignorance from people who are trying to be smart asses. No one can blame Kahoona for mispelling 'Guggenheim', I had to cut and paste it from above, but Pope et. al takes the case. Yeah, there is a Guggenheim in NYC, but to echo 'moviet001' try and think a little broader than the US. As for the museums, there is the one recently built in Bilbao, one in Venice, another in Berlin and I believe one may be planned for Los Angeles. As for the NYC museum with the ramp, this is an historic Frank Lloyd Wright building.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, the twelfth Bond film, was released in 1981. The one before that, MOONRAKER, came out in 1979, to cash in on the success of STAR WARS. The end credits of the tenth Bond film, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977) promises that "James Bond will return in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY," which was scheduled to be the 1979 film. Since STAR WARS was a big hit, the Bond people decided to put 007 into outer space, making MOONRAKER the next film in the series.

    What Gadgets?

    by rush hour

I know that there's all this hype with regards to Bond 19, with Brosnan reprising his 'famous' role as Bond, as well as the return of Robbie Coltrane, and Robert Carlisle as the bad guys, but what about the new gadgets?

Is Bond still driving a BMW (nice car but a shame it's goddamn well GERMAN) - Bond is British and we all know that he drove Aston Martins when they were cool! Anything else with regards to what his weapons are now? Example: The new Walther gun in Tomorrow Never Dies. But most of all please tell me what his new car is. Fingers crossed it's not a filthy german one.

Whats this i hear about Q is he going to be replaced by a bitch, just like Dame Judy "dog dik" Dench who replaced "M."

    Answers on a postcard please!!!!!
