The Trailer's Online For Adrienne Shelly's WAITRESS!
I miss Adrienne Shelly.
I’m in a Hal Hartley kind of mood today anyway. I’m off to see FAY GRIM in just a few hours, the sequel to my favorite Hartley film, HENRY FOOL. And then the trailer for WAITRESS pops in my inbox. I know it’s not a Hartley film, but it’s hard to think of him with thinking of Adrienne Shelly, and vice-versa.
I’m glad Fox Searchlight’s handling this one. They’ve proven themselves to be very good at getting small indie films in front of mass audiences, and since this is Shelly’s first film as a director, and since it’s also unfortunately her memorial on film now, I want to see this one treated well.
Let’s take a look at the trailer:
Nathan Fillion? Cheryl Hines? ANDY FREAKIN' GRIFFITH?!
Okay. Sold.

Too bad she didn't make it. Would've liked to have seen her in MI4! This looks worth a rental.
-
And I thought Andy Griffith was dead. Or was that Don Knotts?
-
It's the attack of the TV actors! Run! Bland acting approaches!
-
You could call Nathan Fillion's acting many things (inspired? crazy?) But I dont think bland is one of em.
-
I'd go see it a)I love to cook so I'm a sucker for movies about cooking, b) I love Andy Freak'n Griffith so again garuntees me seeing this and c) it's got actors I enjoy and a storyline a date would enjoy so PLUS...looks like a sweet and refreashing comedynow how did a miss a sequel to Henry Fool by Hal Hartly, is this something new or something old that just I never heard about
-
Nathan Fillion is branching out, and I am happy to see it.
-
FAY GRIM is new. Magnolia's about to put it out. Trust me... I'll review it after I see it. Verrrrrry excited.
-
Where was she in the Oscar telecast honoring those that passed away this last year? No where. The Academy (or whoever decides) really sucks for not doing so.

Mori, this was Shelley's first feature as a director
by det. john kimble
She directed other films, though they were shorts.

I love Kerri Russel and I want to see this movie cause she is in it. I'm a grown man who owns every Felicity Box set. Can anyone help me????
-
Never saw it but at NYU, it was all my professors in the screenwriting dept. ever talked about...
-
i was at my sisters with some folk a couplea hours b4 goin to a party, she wanted to whack on some movie called 'trust', i myself wanted to get the records on and pour the booze, my sis had her way and boy was i glad. Was really really angry when i heard about Adrienne Shelly's death. i didnt watch the trailer as my computer crashes sometimes on such things at the mo. I'll check this out when i get the first chance. Remember when she popped up in OZ as the wardens secretary? That was a nice surprise. Didn't know she'd been snubbed a RIP mention at the oscars, F***in hack B******s. Got a notion to show up with a grenade Martin Donovan 'trust' style next year. Here's to you Adrienne 'BOOM'! Jokin! Jokin! ,..trust me..
-
A little too cute, but it has Nathan Fillion. BTW- Keri Russel seems so much hotter with straight hair.
-
A little late here...
-
thanks for the updated info. I'll be looking forward to it.
-
One that I can buy in the United States, please.
-
I saw it at Sundance. But it's not as good as The Savages, which also just got a trailer put online. Check comingsoon.net. The trailer is funny and has a few great lines and moments from the film, but does not do justice to how beautiful and true it is. There are films that are similar to it that are better. You Can Count on Me and Squid and the Whale come to mind. But it was still one of my favorite films I saw at Sundance, and might be one of my favorites of the year.

that was years ago. she had that whole rosanna arquette thing going for her. sad that she died just as she was hitting a new stage in her career...
-
but this trailer looks really badly edited. Like they took all the stuff that would work really well in context and put them up there as rimshot moments of comedy. I have full confidence in the movie itself - that last exchange between Fillion and Russell is the best.
Oh, And I could have sworn that Chris Penn was in the Oscar tribute - it was in 2006, not this year, though. -
Full length feature. Very weird. Even for a Hartley alumni! Looking forward to this, just a shame it's her last.
-
They were not making fun of Andy Griffith. This cannot be stressed enough.
-
She also directed "I'll Take You There," which was a feature. "Waitress" is her third feature film as a director...
-
What isn't mentioned here and why the Academy went out of their way NOT to honor Ms. Shelly is that she was murdered, big surprise, by an illegal alien from Ecuador. Along with this talented woman, another 12 Americans (4400/year)are also murdered by illegals. Almost 5 times as many killed as out GI's in Iraq. Double it again if you count those killed by illegals driving drunk. These victims all deserved better, but this illustrates how the Libs don't want you to know, their hypocrisy, and that politics have consequences.
