A Hobbit, The Tall Man and Hellboy team up for a horror flick called I SELL THE DEAD!?! How sweet is this?!?

Published at:  Mar 07, 2007 1:16:53 AM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Sorry I've been absent from the day to day on the site since getting back from Louisiana, but my Mac's power cord has fritzed out on me. It was literally sparking, like it belonged in some mad scientists' lab in a '30s Universal horror film. The Powerbook works fine. The book part is there, but the power part is not. The replacement cord is on the way... in the meantime I've bogarted my brother's shitty, virus-infected Dell to throw up a couple stories tonight... gotta earn my keep, you know.

Looks like Harry grabbed the Shyamalan story, but I have a good one, too...

This sounds so fuckin' cool and it's so out of left field that I can't help but be shocked that this movie could possibly exist.

There's a flick called I SELL THE DEAD in works with LOST/LOTR's Dominic Monaghan, playing an 18th Century grave-digger, Ron Perlman, playing his mysterious priest, and Angus Scrimm (in final negotiations) playing an aristocratic doctor.

Monaghan and producer-actor Larry Fessenden will play London corpse-traders who perform "services" for the elderly doctor in this indie flick, to lens in May in New York.

This sounds so damn cool to me I can't even say. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one!

    Excellent title

    by dr. meirschultz

Any movie which is a statement of "I Do Something" is automatically among the greatest ever produced. "I Spit on Your Grave", "I Bury the Living", "I Eat Your Skin", "I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang". And who can forget the classic zombie exploitation flick "I Am Sam".

Quint, this sounds like "the body snatcher"

    by badmrwonka

from 1945, with lugosi and karloff...great flick, really ahead of it's time in both the creepiness factor and the realism.

    is Fessenden also directing?

    by jarek

Because he's a pretty kickass indie director.

    It sounds interesting

But it could really do with some COSMPIC POWER. You know, to pep things up.

    Burke and Hare?

    by maxthesilent

That's who THE BODY SNATCHERS was based on. Two nitwits who, when the graveyard was empty, opened a hotel where the guests checked in, but never checked out.

Best thing ever to come out of that Spidey 3 preview talkback. As for this movie I'm curious to find out who's directing it.

There is always an excuse for AICN staff...

    by nomihs

Yeah this does sound like a great story, but why is it when someone on the AICN staff is absent or late getting up stories they always have a story (eg. "My power cord was on FIRE and almost burned down my sister's cousin's daughter's former roomate's bathroom while I was trying to find a hotspot in her house and also using the facilities as well, why not kill two birds with one stone right?") You can insert whatever catastrophe you want, AICN staff have seen/done it all when it comes to avoiding the inbox of the site's e-mail. I am not bitchin, god knows I am slack p.o.s. so I have no room to be a critic, just a simple observation.

    Sounds great, but...

    by docpazuzu

...Coscarelli needs to get moving on Phantasm 5 before Scrimm croaks. Seriously, we need one final round of Reggie & Mike kicking the Tall Man in his silver balls.

    DocPazuzu, I completely agree

    by boondock devil

Everytime I ever see Angus Scrimm in anything that's the first thing that pops up in my head. The Bubba Ho-Tep sequel can wait considering Bruce will be around a whole lot longer than Mr. Scrimm.

How cool wouldn't an Evil Dead Phantasm crossover be? Two dunderhead heroes, Ash and Reggie, taking on hordes of deadites and the Tall Man's bizarro army of undead dwarves and flying silver balls? Oh yes.

It'd be a great capper to both film series, Doc

    by boondock devil

Get Don to direct and Sam Raimi producing it. It'd make for one hell of a fun movie. We could get a Raimi-like flying silver sphere POV chasing Ash and all would be right in the world.

I always love to see Ron Perlman on screen...

    by derlanghaarige

...but seriously: "A new film with Ron Perlman" is not really newsworthy. And the story of it doesn'T sound too interesting anyway. But I hope it will make millions! For Perlman! One of the most underrated actors ever!

Since when does the cast make the film?

    by jackpumpkinhead

This may be lousy, unless Coscarelli will be directing. Or, considering the subject, Romero.

Hopefully the "doctor" uses flying metal balls to kill people and uses the gravedigger to get rid of the bodies.
