The best of the Marvel DTV thus far...

    by alonzo mosely

Solid little effort, although sometimes the animation gets to 80s He-Man quality, still it was fun for what it was...

At least it was better than their attempt...

    by rbatty024

at making an animated Ultimates. Nice to see things are improving. Although, I think the animated Hellboy movie is the best DTV so far. Come to think of it, it's better than at least half the live action comic book fare out there. It's sad when Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, and Elektra all get the shit kicked out of them by some a direct to video.

    Favreau done already?

    by darth_baltar

damn, didn't they just cast this? and now its already gone to television. Guess they rushed it too much and the FXs must have suxed. Or did Downy Jr end up back in rehab and they let Jake "Maniquin Skywalker" take the role? Never thought John Favreau would do a bigger bomb than Zathura! Maybe he was having some bad 'shroom flashbacks from his costarring days in PCU with Jeremy Piven. Let the "man in suit" chants begin as the CGI armor must've really looked bad, why the matte lines are like an inch thick!!!! .......oh wait, y'all are talkin bout that animated version aint ya? the ultimate avengers spinn off. That means Robert Downey can still hook a brother up this week!!!

    Kind of suprising ...

    by ironmuskrat

Surprisingly mature stuff in this one. Not shy about showing some blood. One BOOM! head shot scene. Extended Asian hottie nudity(sort of). However there was a few negatives, the jerky computer animation and a sappy ending sucked. Not bad overall, at least Marvel seems to be trying.

Metrosexual Tony and I found the female character's possession scene actually somewhat disturbing.

Also, why did they screw up the Mandarin so

    by superninja

badly? The animation was okay, but I found the story to be genuinely boring. Although the designs for the bad guys were cool. In terms of Tony's battles it kind of had Ghost Rider syndrome.

    GreatOne, I agree with you.

    by superninja

There really is no excuse since animation does not have limitations they claim with live action. If this is the type of origin they are going with for the live action movie, I prefer the original. Favereau made the comment about Tony being a greasemonkey with his suits, so it fits.

Watched it the other week on DVD

    by pervomatic

And it was mediocre at BEST. The whole thing with Stark and his dad was lame and not needed at all. Him running around as a fugitive was poorly done, and the voice acting was pretty pathetic. The animation was, at times, solid stuff, and at other times looked like the Spider-Man show from the 90's. Marvel continues to prove that they just can't compete with DC when it comes to animated ventures. They need to totally overhaul whatever production process they go through with this garbage. I'm really getting sick of it.

    captboulder, that Superman DTV

    by superninja

was terrible. Mostly because they Superman Returnsed Lex Luthor. The script was the problem, not the actors.

Those scenes from Ultimate Alliance are pretty freaking awesome. Why can't they transfer that quality into an animated movie? The Iron Man movie sucked so hard I gave it away. Hellboy animated movie was pretty good.

I didn't like it. JLA is by far the best

    by zekmoe

I watched, like any obsessive comic fan from the 80's does, and was hoping for a glimse of coolness. It was here and there, with the sounds and movement of iron man, and the large variety of costumes was cool. But the story was boring. Story first guys...

    by datascream

wasn't that bad at all. I lied that they wanted to try something more epic for Mandarin instead of him being some mustache twirling gang lord. I liked Tony's voice from Ultimate Avengers better however. And yeah the fights were a bit more interesting in Avengers, I mean come on, how can you beat a full out fight with the Hulk against the rest of the team? Now all I need right now is that 90's X-men cartoon series on DVD! Where the hell is that!?

    Dear Marvel...

    by spectre agent

PLEASE do whatever you need to do and get the staff behind the animated DC shows producing all your subsequent work. I'm sure they need the work and will be up for the challenge. In this way, we'll finally get stories with some real wit, drama, and ass-kicking by people who truly get the character, warts and all, and not the embarassing dreck you have turned out thus far.

    Excelsior!

    by superninja

SPECTRE. Have you read a Marvel comic book lately? That Iron Man movie plays just like a current Marvel comic book. Which means, boring stretched out plot that has no point, wonky characterization, whiney unheroic hero.

    Disappointing

    by the starwolf

Iron Man is a tech hero. He fights tech menaces. Having him against mystical threats was a big mistake. As was his being portrayed as a reprehensible individual. The Board at Stark are made out to be idiots. How does the company stay in business with them at the helm? Finally, why didn't Stark use one of his existing IM armour when going to the rescue? Just bad writing all around.

The cool thing about Mandarin is that he was

a tech guy but his appearance throws you off thinking his powers are magic-based. Yeah, they blew it.

How many suits of armor can Tony lose in one adventure?

    by spyguy

After sneaking into his secret room inside Stark Industries (or wherever), Tony dons his underwater-pressure-suit armor and promptly gets trashed in battle. Then after sneaking back in the secret room again, he gets a fairly current version of the red-and-gold armor which also promptly gets trashed in another battle. Then after being forced to use the grey armor once again for the final showdown, he gets that armor trashed as well and ultimately has to talk his way out of his predicament. WTF?

    by rbatty024

animated film. It's actually pretty good. This was mediocre but at least it was better than the Ultimates 1 and 2. Those were a travesty. Still, it wasn't as shitty as Ghost Rider, so I'll give it that.

No, Marvel shouldn't get DC (Warner's) animation co.

    by artemisclydefrog

...because then you get fucking XMen Evolution. Hellboy isn't bad, I just hate the go-to Asian sub plot. I mean, why? Exact same as Iron Man, these fucking Jackie Chan Adventures "escaped elemental demons" are the laziest comic plot device EVER. Fingers crossed for the New Frontier, but lets not confuse all the animated DC properties with Batman:TAS. There's still goddamn Teen Titans and Static Shock. I know it was released theatrically, but Mask of the Phantasm is an animation gem, produced with no more resources than the show had at the time.
