I don't know if we need this right now.

I'll be happy to look back on the whole mess that is Iraq once our boys and girls are safely out of there, but to base a piece of cable entertainment on it while folks are still dying every day rubs me wrong.

Somehow I doubt it'll be as interesting as say...

    by optimus murphy

...the actual stuff the soldiers in Iraq shoot themselves. Oh, and Talkback meltdown to commence within fifteen posts.

    Should be good...

    by vunnyside

These two writers are the best in the business and will respect the material. This is not about the politics behind the war, this is about the internal struggles of the Army and soldiers during this time. From what I know this is not a drama but a docu-drama so it is just telling the story of a time that is recent, but I dont think this mini-series is too different than a doc on the war, or on any event that is still ongoing, like films/docs on the Israeli-Arab conflict or Sudan where people are still dying. This is a story that I wish would never have to be told, but nevertheless this should be interesting and I will watch it. I just hope it doesnt push back The Wire Season 5 :)

    Bring It On!

    by bobbyjoe

Hell, David Simon and the guys behind "The Wire" could make "The Super Adventures of the Nasonex Bee" and I'd be there. This book on the Iraq War sounds like it fits well with some similar themes of "The Wire" which is relentlessly sympathetic to characters caught up in all levels of a maddeningly ineffective bureaucracy. I've heard "the Wire" people are also interested in developing a series about Post-Katrina New Orleans. Hmmmm.... what do the Drug War, the method of planning we've seen in Iraq, and the government's initial reaction to Hurrican Katrina all have in common?

That makes no sense Childe Roland

It is one thing if this were a one sided critique of the Irag war, but this will be a human telling of the experiences of the troops and the struggles they have to deal with. If anything, it is better to tell their story, regarding how they have to cope with the clusterfuck they are in, while they are there, not waiting till they are back. Plus, this isn't just a piece of cable entertainment, it is TV being made by two of the greatest purveyors of the medium.

The topic doesn't interest me at all, but...

I fucking love these guys to death. I'll probably check it out, as long as them working on this doesn't affect the quality of the last season of The Wire.

Saying they should wait till the Iraq War is over is like saying they shouldn't have done The Wire until the War on Drugs is over. Plenty of people dying in that war too...

We need as many documentaries as possible to shed light on what the fuck is happening over there... also can't wait for Against All Enemies...

LOL! Generation Kill! Why Not "Surrender To Islam"?

    by uss cygnus

Let me guess...the shocking revelation is that war is bad and American Troops, especially Marines, are evil, murderous psychopaths, right? The American Media and Hollywood painting our military in an unflattering light? IMPOSSIBLE. *turns off sarcasm machine*
