All bow down and worship the bad@ass AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON MOVIE poster!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here again once more before I crash... erm... sleep... Don't want to say "crash" when I'm 14 hours or so from getting on a plane. But this was too cool not to pass on.
AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON MOVIE has gotten a lot of airtime recently, but forgetting all the bullshit controversy, let's take a look at this beautiful poster that surfaced from the European Film Market. The good folks at Twitch got the pic and "Siouxfire" sent in the heads up. I want this on my wall so bad... and I don't even follow the show very closely! At the very least Frazetta inspired... I can't imagine they got the man himself to do it... right? I know he still paints... but surely not, right? Either way, it's kick-ass. Check it out!

Great But Background Should Be Smoking Ruins Of Beantow
by captdanielroe
What a bunch of maroons. And they got many and heads after they pulled those hijinks to cover their own reputations? Who os dumb enough to think that was anything other than the worlds biggest pants explosion? And I'll bet every single one of the functionaries involved knew better, every step of the way. But this is the kind of tripe that happens when people take seriously slogans like ZERO TOLERANCE and YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL. Obviously you can be too careful... Way too careful.
-
In case you *do* get a seat next to the mayor, you better bring your "Menino to English" dictionary.

I guess it's an 'homage'

if that's the way they are actually printing the poster, that's fucking hilarious. -
That is BADASS & COOL!

"Thank you, God!"

Just saying.. I don't normally stare at a guys junk heap, just since that whole Silver Surfer deal I feel compelled check cartoon characters for unwanted genitalia.

Sure, it's an entertaining enough show, if you're into that kinda stuff. But a movie? Hell, no.

Another show I've never watched. I hear it's funny. I will netflix it.

I bow to that poster.

shite

C'mon guys. The poster for VACATION was itself a parody of the classic Conan covers done by Vallejo and Frazetta. (Ditto for Army of Darkness) Why do you think Ramis got Vallejo to do the VACATION poster in the first place? Take a look at the original poster for Conan the Barbarian. Carl is standing in exactly the same pose on the ATHF poster as Schwarzenegger.
-
ha isn't it funny when somebody claims first and they don't get it...I think it's hilarious....THE LION KING ROCKS...and so does THE BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA!!!!

Yeah, reminds me of Army Of Darkness...
by film_fanatic_in_the_original_black_and_w
I'd give this movie a chance based on that badass poster. :)
-
The Vacation posters were parodies, and I get a Boris Vallejo vibe more than Frazetta off this poster, probably due more to the big lizard than anything. Frazetta is and always will be the standard by which classic fantasy art is measured, but there are many styles and flavors that appeal to different people. Fun poster overall.

BLAH BLAH presents in association with BLAH BLAH BLAH
by harry weinstein
That's too funny. Since it's got studio and Dolby logos (and an R rating) I imagine that's not just placeholder text we're seeing. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH FOR BLAH.
-
The kind of stuff we grew up with. Frazetta on acid. Oh and now all you whiney ATHF haters can continue your pointless rants. BUT DON'T YOU DARE SHIT ON THIS AWESOME FRICKEN POSTER!
-
It's nice to see Boris is getting work outside of those girly-fantasy canendars he makes with (wife?) Julie Bell every year.
-
Frazetta's been yelled at by his wife for leaving better art than Boris ever made floating in the toilet for her to flush...Boris is an uninspired hack who paints the life out of everything he touches (his preliminary color drawings are actually way better than his final paintings, but still suck)and uses photos of models- including himself, vain twat- for reference. Frazetta is the Beatles of fantasy art, who could draw or paint anything cold, from his head. His stuff was always loose, gritty and alive (he still paints, but has stiffened up a touch since he HAD A FRIGGING STROKE AND THEN RE-TRAINED HIMSELF TO PAINT WITH THE OTHER FRIGGING HAND FUCK!!)with everyone covered in dirt and blood and looking mean...ESPECIALLY the heroes. The shame of it all is that- as far as I'm concerned- Vallejo- the Oasis (read: unoriginal, derivative hack) to Frazetta's Beatles- held Frazetta back from the respect and prestige he truly deserved simply by being mistaken for him so often, with his room-temperature paintings that represent the cheesiest of fantasy art conventions. I wouldn't be surprised if Boris actually painted that condiment movie or whatever the shit it is poster. He clearly likes doing his own tributes to himself. If it wasn't him, it was probably that Rowena chick who stupidly picked the wrong artist to make a career out of ripping off (I think she might actually be his wife, or "prodigy" or some vaguely creepy thing like that). Anyway, a side-by-side comparison of the two artists' work from their heyday would bring home just how different they were. And yes, I created an account and password just to comment on this...it's because I'm an aging nerd watching a lot of really great things fade into obscurity or- worse- get relegated to the graveyard of ironic (misdirected)references.....Okay, I'm done...commence the kicking...
-
It's parodying 'Bat Out of Hell'!!!
-
...right...Rowena, or whatever her name is, must have just ripped Vallejo off from a distance, while Bell actually got to touch his ego with her bare hands. I would also like to add Ken Kelly to the list of post-Frazetta chevy van/chopper tank/Trans Am hood decorators...Kiss Destroyer AND Love Gun...Meatloaf could empty all the bats from Satan's ass and not beat that pair
-
It's beautiful
-
it would get my money. I'll hold out for DVD. Which it should go straight to.
-
Never begin a argument involving music with a pro-Kiss statement. It tends to makes you look like you have awful taste in music.
-
My mistake.
-
...or the beginning of an argument for that matter. I haven't liked "KISS" in about 25 years (and I've never liked wrestling, of which bands like KISS and Meatloaf are the musical equivalent). I was talking about fantasy artists and their album cover work, not "music". 'member? It had to do with who beat who in the whole bombastic, self-agrandizing sleeve-art category, or at least that's how it was playing in my dusty old skull. Sorry if I confused us and made you get out your Sufjan Stevens or Tool or Miles Davis or whatever flag for nothing. I go beddies now.
-
But I'll fly my Fingerbang City flag thankyouverymuch.
-
...used photos of himself for comic book art and paintings. Ditto for his wife as model. All the greats like Bama, Gogos and others from the late golden age of illustrators used photo references. True, Vallejo is no Frazetta. But who is?!!!
-
I don't know why athf is funny. I really don't, but dammit it is. Some very talented guys have put together a smart show about dumb random crap, and this poster shows that their grasp of what they are doing is scary tight.
Meatwad is low on gas. ROFL! -

by bendersshinyass
Stay away from those volcanoes boys... they fuck you up... trust me, I've only just started walking again. ATHF rule.... and so does this poster..... which i saw about 2 weeks ago. woah... i sound like one of THOSE talkbackers
-
I mean, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but it seems like a strange place to focus your anger.
-
that's a lot of hate spewing toward a talented artist beloved by many thousands from a basement-dwelling troll who no one gives a crap about. an artist... using photo references? The horror. the horror. Any valid point you might have had to make about the density of the art is lost because of your ridiculous ranting.
-
This movie is getting my money strictly because the poster has ninjas in the background to the right.
-
Actually they would be the left.
-
Actually they would be "to" the left. No more coffee and kick ass Aqua Teen movie posters this early in the morning.
-
Um, perhaps you should move out of your older brother's house, get a job, make some money, and then purchase a life.
I'm just sayin'. -
This poster smells an awful lot like the cover of Maddox's Alphabet of Manliness.
-
And Sealab2021 died unfortunately when Sir Harry Goz died. Great idea for this poster and props to them for coming up with that. The motorcycle bitch is the icing on the cake.
-
Great Poster !
-
they recently decided to omit 'colon' from wat i understand. sacrificed the dadaism to make the title a little more streamlined.
ps.
WHERE THE FUCK IS THE HQ DAMNIT?! -
...you're so smart and funny. How do you do it?
-
I mean c'mon, how many decades have you been waiting for your chance to go off about Frazetta? And how the hell could you actually think those KISS album covers are anything but the complete 70's bullshit that they are?
-
You seem intent on having an argument with me (of course I know that many talkbackers out there generally just want to bait people into an amusing rant, but mine is done). When I mentioned that I was "aging", I guess it was more pre-emptive self-deprecation than anything else, fearing that I'd given myself away with all the retro name-dropping and wanting to call myself an old man before anyone else did. I guess that makes me insecure. I'm actually not "old" as such (I was a child in the seventies), but I know that even 30 is considered old nowadays (as are people who use the term "nowadays" I suppose). As far as the Kiss covers go, I feel that you didn't really read my comment, because I was- in fact- following your thread re: the Meatloaf album covers. I thought you had made a joke, and I was trying to join in on the whole "name-another-cheesy-album-cover-artist" game that I thought was breaking out. I named Ken Kelly- the artist who painted the Kiss covers- because, like Boris- he is another third rate Frazetta wannabe, who made a career out of that kind of crap. I was going for a battle of the "complete '70's bullshit" (to borrow your term) album covers, but I guess I was the only one playing. And yes, I have hated Boris for years. Even as a ten-year-old I thought he was a hack. His paintings are real shiny, but lifeless and obvious. Frazetta- on the other hand- will always be a favorite. I learned to ink from his work, as well as taking many anatomy lessons from his figures. It means something to me, yes. Is that so passe? Everyone around here seems to have such animosity toward each other. And to think that- naively- I'd briefly thought that you were trying to strike up a little friendly back-and-forth with you sarcastic "smart and funny" remark. Anyway, here you go...take another cheap swipe. Only don't imply that I'm bitter and old and living in a basement somewhere- some other original soul already beat you to that one.
-
I know that I'm long-winded.
-
hmmm? Poster looks cool. check out the side boobs on those chicks.
-
As long as you know.
-
thats about all... looking forward to all these cartoon movies (Simpsons, ATHF, etc)
-
As long as you know that I...um...know...
-
I applaud you for writing multiple posts that are longer than two sentences. I don't think I've even cracked into four sentence territory since I wrote my last history paper.
-
Holy god is that awesome, the Meatwad/Ash nod fills me with glee. Screw ghostrider, spiderman, and the Transformers, this one's a lock.
-
According to the snydecast, Dana Snyder's podcast on a competing site (*cough* quickstopentertainment.com *cough*) The artist was Richard Corben.
They wanted the guy who did Bat out of Hell for the posters, and they got him. At least, thats what he said. -
...but he in turn was obviously influenced by other artists, probably Kelly Freas and some of the other EC artists (in his own comedy movie posters, Frazetta obviously borrowed the "lots of people running around" motif from Jack Davis). Hell, you could go back to NC Wyeth if you want. The point is that if the poster (which is sweet, btw) was drawn by Corben, Vallejo or Frazetta himself, it was obviously influenced by Frazetta, who is part of a longer tradition anyway.
