Look! Quick! Leaked RATATOUILLE Test Footage!

Published at:  Feb 09, 2007 6:08:13 AM CST

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

Seriously... how can this go wrong?

Brad Bird. Pixar. Patton Oswalt. Comedy. If you listen to the commentary tracks on THE SIMPSONS, everyone heaps endless praise on Bird for so many of the classic moments and gags and set-ups, and it’s easy to forget after the broader-appeal entertainment of THE IRON GIANT or THE INCREDIBLES that Bird is a very, very funny man. I like that RATATOUILLE sounds like a comedy, and this leaked animation test is just a quick comic piece of performance. I like this character a lot, and this makes me want to see a real trailer for this film as soon as possible:

Hey, thought you might want to check out this leaked Ratatouille footage I found on YouTube. Looks like an animation test from Pixar…..

    Rats Gotta perform magic

    by archduke_chocula

Looks splendid, after going through the Incredibles special features again yesterday there's no way Brad Bird can deliver a clunker with his intense devotion to getting the most out of everyone involved.......now if he'd just write Incredibles II.....

Well! I guess Bird's channeling Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige" where he answers the question: how do you teleport a man? You can actually teleport him or use twins. So Emile eats the cheese! It makes sense to me, kind of...

VERY EXCITED for this - The Incredibles was great!

    by kinghenryviii

Bird can do no wrong (I hope). Iron Giant was great - The Incredibles blew me away with how much I liked it. He seems like a great worker - great motivator, and I love his quote from The Incredibles extra features, "Use every part of the buffalo". Classic. I now wash out my zip lock baggies and reuse them. I will see this openning night - got no kids so I may look like a perv but honestly - just there for the flick, man - just there for the flick.

Ratatouille really does not sound like my kind of film. I am not super fond of rats or cooking or even the French. However, Brad Byrd? I will gladly put $10 in an envelope and mail it to him, just to ensure I get a ticket to his next film. After The Iron Giant and Incredibles, I am willing to let him make automatic withdrawls from my checking account whenever he needs to.

    by filmicdrummer17

Meaning that we will very likely not see any scene where this happens. Remember, WETA digital made a test for the cave troll where he battles a rubber ball. Even so, it looks great--looks like Pixar will go 7-for-7.

LOOK QUICK! At this footage provided by Pixar!

    by jesuschrist

Look at who posted it on Youtube. Pixar. Sorry, Ratatouile Movie, which has been a Youtube member for one month. About when the the marketing department would post it. Which, by the way, is brilliant. Now everyone's running over there en masse (myself included) to look at it. If it was real "leaked" footage, there would be time code and someone's name on it, for just this sort of media leak. Still looks damn good though.

It's the subtle stuff that makes PIXAR special

    by acappellaman

PIXAR has amazing talent on their team. Their attention to detail is second to none, adn this short test clip is an example of that. This rat seems ALIVE. Yes, it's cartoony, but it has this feeling of weight to it that makes it seem so real. The expressions are great, the small twitches and glances it makes are perfect. and this is just for a friggin TEST! These guys rule.

You guys really know how to burn something into the ground. Come up with something original for once in your life. I'm sure my complaint will just instigate a huge number of GOTTA EAT postings to follow mine. I know this because thats how uncreative and unoriginal most of you catch phrasers are. So have at it.

How to Make A Pixar Film*

    by winterchili

Take something that you can make lots of terrible puns about and make it so it can talk, Toys, Fish, Bugs, Cars, etc.

Write a story about someone who used to be on top but then a flashy new comer dethrones them (Cars, Toy Story) or have someone go on a big adventure to get back someone they love (Monsters INC, Finding Nemo) or just remake Seven Samurai (Bugs Life).

*The Incredibles is a big awesome exception to these rules.

    by evil hobbit

god the pixar guys are brilliant, I mean, this was so simple and so fucking funny. Nearly pissed my pants. The rat's expressions are amazing. And it isn't even final animation! This little piece is a thousand times better then the crap Dreamworks and Fox use to shit. Tx for posting, made my day.

Well it's not, it's fucken burnt bullcrap shoved up the ass if a whore. I'd rather piss on an electric fence and cut off my toes than watch that godforsaken pile of motherfucken dogshit. I hope the creators of Shrek and Mike Myers drown in a bukkake shoot filmed by Richard Simmons.

    by brendon

    ...and getting seen by LOADS.

I posted it on film ick a week or two ago and feel daft for not alerting Harry or Moriarty to it then so you might have all seen it sooner. If you go to film ick and search for 'Pixar' or 'voyage' you can also find incomplete footage from their Star Trek-style short "Virgin Voyage", plus other goodies.

It's amazing that Pixar "Test footage" looks better than some of those other hack studios final footage. It's all about the animation, it helps sell it so much even if the rendering isnt' final.. I love these guys, hope this movie is good.
