Will Gillian Anderson Spit On Your Grave In STRAIGHTHEADS?!

Revenge films. Invasion films. Torture films. There’s a larger cultural issue at play in what we’re calling horror films right now, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that it’s a reaction to the world around us at the moment. People feel like their notions of security have been destroyed, and these movies are the natural artistic response. Will this one be any good? With Gillian Anderson and one of the stars of SEVERANCE, there’s a good chance that geeks will at least give the movie a chance.

I've noticed that she has been doing some stuff in England, and some theater. Maybe there are fewer frightening geeky people screaming "I love you, Scully" in England.

by trying to widen her range rather than try and get in another movie or film hit. If you see someone playing the same character for years sometimes it's easy to forget what a good actress that person is.

I'd kinda forgotten it but The Last King Of Scotland made me remember. Plus she can really act and I'm loving this accent. It's a shame that Danny Dyer is such an unwatchable prick.

If I remember rightly, Anderson grew up in England (though as a US citizen) so she can switch accents easily.

Yes, indeed, Ms. Anderson spent a good portion of her early years in Britain, so her accent is fine, one way or another. I've always found her to be an interesting, off-beat kind of actress, which is good, in my book. So many actresses out of Hollywood are cookie-cutter types, but Gillian Anderson comes off as a unique and interesting. I'm glad that she is doing stuff like BLEAK HOUSE, and I hope she gets more work. I think it is a smart career move for her to do a mix of roles, from serious drama, to comedy, to genre films. Anyway, I like her as an actress, and applaud her success.

great to see Gillian Anderson getting plenty of screen time she had good reviews for her performance in Bleak House. 'Fraid i have to add my voice to the Danny Dyer is a talentless prick party, a good example is his performance in the woefull Football Factory ....total rubbish.

I was very lucky enough to go to a rough cut screening of this film in the summer of last year in London. it didnt have music or credits attached but the film itself was finished. anyway its a good film but the highlight was without doubt Gillian Anderson getting her kit off about 3 times in the movie. None of this "turning" rubbish either proper kit off action. This was enough for me it render the movie brilliant and guarantee a dvd purchase. you are in for a treat GA fans!
