Brian Cox to be CG Young-ified in WOLVERINE movie?
Hey folks, Harry here - Remember that Playboy - CG - Airbrushed look that they did to Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in X3? Well, looks like they might be employing that technique on the WOLVERINE movie to Brian Cox - as the film is apparently set 17 years before the events that Wolverine goes through in the X-Men movies. Here ya go...
Something small about the upcoming Wolverine movie. Brian Cox was on a BBC programme, Film 2007 talking about Running With Scissors, the presenter Jonathan Ross asked him about Wolverine to which Cox replied, 'it's set seventeen years ago, which is fine for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine doesn't age but for me, I'm thinking they could what they did with Patrick and Ian for the start of the third one. I know my character is in it, they've asked me to be in it but that was a while ago now, it's completely stalled so no start date as yet.' Adrian

...as long as Brian Cox is in it. First?
-
...This isn't a good movie to make at this time with this cast. It just isn't. Sorry but the character could be handled better. No really; sorry. But no.
-
Jackman wears a patch.

Focusing on X2's story instead of X3's is a smart start
by TheSecondQuest
Since X3 ruined what X2 setup for the whole Phoenix plotline, it's a smart move to go back to the Weapon X plotline of X2, and hopefully salvage the franchise.
-
God I f'ing hate Wolverine. I like Hugh Jackman but I hate the character of Wolverine.
-
The tall one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUNgoJcB7L4 The other guy should play Puck from Alpha Flight.
-
This promises everything that X Men movies are known for.., overreliance on CGI, a "we're out of ideas," prequel premise, complete lack of continuity, comic book theme, too many characters, incomprehensible plot, half-baked villains, and dialogue about toads struck by lightning. Oh yeah, and no tit.
-
...Would be on Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy so they can join McGann, Eccleston and Tennant in "The Seven Doctors" for the 45th Anniversary next year. Yeah, the beeb would have to spring for lipo and wigs for the portly Baker boys but it would be incredibly awesome. Actually just bring back Tom Baker and Peter Davison to play of Eccleston and Tennant.
-
so i can then ruin the character.
-
that shit was stale when it was fresh. weaker than a CGI whip. do get some new material. or much rather, don't.
-
Didn't think it was that good.
-
Thank you for being the supreme authority on all things funny and letting me know when I should get new material. I will do as I have to all detractors and take your advice and proceed to crap on it.
-
We just might get the amazing no holds barred action/comic-book movie we've all wanted.....Give me Hugh in the snow killing badhiney soldiers, and i'll be so happy.
-
Has Brian Cox ever given a weak performance?? This guy is so under-rated it is unbelievable.
-
I agree. Brian Cox had to be one of the, if not THE best things about X-2. He is a phenomenal actor.
-
....sorry....or am I
-
Brian Cox does, indeed, rock, as did Ian and Patrick and, well, pretty much everyone in the X-Men movies, but after the first two stellar films X-men three was sort of like a urinal cake with a big budget. I'm not looking forward to Wolverine, no matter what the cast. On a totally different Note, Say Harry, how long before we hear your most anticipated moves for 07?
-
Wait, that doesn't sound right.
-
Well, at least that's how Sir Ian heard it.
-
He could play the Cox role!
-
I MEAN, COX GOTTA EAT!
-
God, that movie fucking sucked. Lets hope the X-men franchise still has some creative life left in it. I love Cox as an actor, but I'm thinking that if it's seventeen years ago, they might as well just go with someone who looks like a younger Stryker.
-
They should've CGI'd him to 18 years old and put him in Hannibal Rising (the casting news could've been "Cox is Rising").
-
But where the hell is the GYMKATA DVD review!!!!!!?????
-
If/when The Hobbit is made the ONLY actor they should even consider for the role of Thorin Oakenshield is Brian Cox - fact. Of course, he might not want to do it, but he'd be a fool (unless Uwe Boll or Ratner are at the helm).
-
If they get someone to make the movie that has some respect for the source material. I'd love to see the Wolverine mini by Claremont/ Miller given a silver screen treatment by Rodriguez. NOICE! But, alas, we'll probably get some half-assed weapon-X story by someone like Joel Shumacher. *groan*
-
Clancy Brown, Sean Bean, Sid Vicious... I don't care who, just don't let Mane back! His look was as bad as Creed's characterization in the first X-fick.
-
just to remind everyone of those good tingling feelings we felt the first time: Nightcrawler, Wolvie stabbing the guy in the kitchen, Colossus's quick bit, magneto's escape, Mystique infiltrating the base/middle finger, magneto pulling the grenade pins....that's a good highlight reel
-
It just sounds funny......
-
I swear X2 and Home Alone used to be three star flicks, now they're listed as two.
-
Don't hate the actor, hate the latex.
-
Mark Walberg says he won't do it unless it's a plastic dildo.
-
FOX is hoping that a stand alone Wolverine flick is going to rake in over 200 million. Well they are worng. I'd give it 120 million domestically tops, maybe it'll even make it to 140 if it's really good. I love Wolverine, but he;s one of the less visually stunning characters in the X-verse.
-
nuff said.
-
yes, I spelled it right, you tools.
-
Jack Nicholson. Other dwarves: Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Ian McShane, Dennis Hopper, Nick Nolte, Rutger Hauer, Kris Kristofferson, Robert Duvall, Bruce Dern, Dean Stockwell, James Caan, Corben Bernsen, Sam Shephard ... Need I continue?
-
He says 'Who needs CGI? Whatever happened to good ole' BoTox injections?'
-
I personally don't care much for Brian Cox. Maybe in Rushmore. I can't explain it but everytime I see him in a movie I start to think, "WTF, he's in this too?"
-
Wake me when the movie's in theaters. zzzzzzzz..............
-
THIS YEAR'S LITTLE MISS FLOGGING A DEAD HORSE!
-
when me shit turns purple and tastes like rainbow sherbert.
-
First Indy and now this? Cox was merely sayin he didn't know how they could justify cox being cast since the fiml took place 17 years prior. But AICN spins it into a speculative headline implying that the CG effect used in X3 was being considered. Bad week for AICN
-
...Supertroopers. But, then again, I'm not a big Broken Lizard fan. We'll see what happens when their next movie comes out. Other than that, of all the movies I've seen him in, he is a pretty solid actor. He was one of the best parts of Troy (Pitt sucked).
-
Whoever wrote in has just completely misquoted him. He basically said said had no idea what was happening, and then pretty much joked about the whole cgi de-ageing thing: there was no suggestion that that was a serious possibility at all. But now, its a "story" on aicn, which will probably get picked up by other sites. And as Moto above said, first that ludicrous Indy story, now this. What the hell are you guys playing at?
-
THIS YEAR'S LITTLE MISS PLEASE GROW UP AND GET OVER IT!!!
-
Cause when I talked to them, they seemed kinda standoffish.
-
"I might be in a film, that's stalled, where I'm 17 years younger and I think I should be cgi'd" come on folks.
-
and Wolverine goes out and kills the first fifty motherfuckers he finds.
-
eh. mine was better.
-
Seems like he's confirmed, hope it's true,he's great.Actually he would probably make a more interesting Joker than Ledger...Hope they let Jackman loose, berserker style, and show us what those claws can actually do.
-
of course I didn't like the sabretooth in the first x-men movie but they can recast him and make him look more like he did in the comics.
-
one of that young non-hetero director`s few errors.
-
Harry, you'd probably be viewed as less of a fool amongst the internet community if you worried less about filling your page up with "news" links and concentrated more on something with some weight behind it. Seriously, the misquoted off the cuff remark by an actor who isn't even privy to the status of a possible film is not news. Though I know I'm just wasting my breath, you've long proven that you're happy to muck about in the National Inquirer sludge of internet news reporting then actually putting some effort into making this a site worth reading more then once a month. Luckily you have Hercules and Quint, I try to stay away from any links if it's apparent you wrote them.
-
Forbid a "Wolverine" movie. Something about running with scissors.
-
... and he lost all ability to act like Hannibal, and vowed to steal the role of Stryker in the Wolverine prequel.
-
of the best parts about Troy. Actually, Troy is a good film except for those parts with Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Diana Kruger.
-
most beautiful women and you choose Diana Kruger? She is cute, don't get me wrong, but there are about a dozen women who are more believable as someone a whole people would go to war over. Maybe they didn't want her to outshine Orlando's beauty?
-
Imagine if Lucas actually used CGI to make Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford younger. Could we possibly have an Episode VII?
-
If Lucas ever made another trilogy (though he's made it very clear he never will) he'd probably make the entire cast fully CGI. He's proved that he's incapable of directing or writing actual human beings. Though why you'd want to see any more films from this glorified hack who took a possible story of love and betrayal and turned it into the chronicles of a petulant stalker is beyond me. Tell you what though, should he hire Peter Jackson to write and direct a 3rd trilogy I'll pay to see that.
-
or better yet, do the Weapon X film with Dr Cornelius and Logan beheading the Grizzly during the training exercises.
-
... probably even more than Hugh does, judging from X-Men 3. Singer is the only person that could get me back on board with that franchise.
-
Seven years ago Harrison Ford was asked if he would be willing to do another INdiana Jones movie. He winked and said "in a New York minute". So there you have it@ Breaking news at AICN! Indy IV will be shot in full in just ONE MINUTE... set in New York of all places. HARRY, YOU'VE BROUGHT AICN TO THE LOWEST IT HAS EVER BEEN BY POSTING THIS MISREPRESENTED QUOTE REGARDING WOLVERINE! Shame on you
-
Just can't let Ratner alone, can you? X3 was a good movie. There. I said it.
-
Is there anyway I can see this realized, without it being some fanboy or 8 year old. Please?
-
Come on, people... expand your vocabulary a little bit. Why not say "rejuvenated"?
-
If they're going back to Weapon X and before, I hope we get to see some action where Wolverine and Sabretooth are on the same side for a while (throw in North, Kane, maybe even Deadpool), or some of that mind-fuck stuff around Silver Fox, or berserker Wolvie killing everything in his path, whether they deserve it or not. I wouldn't even mind a nice 19th century flashback. Just as long as they don't do any of the stupid shit going on the current Origin comic.
-
i have a question, is the CG Deageing tool they used on X3,the same one used for Anthony Hopkins a few years back when he starred as a 20 plus years younger Hanibal Lector? i personally think its great whenever possible to use the actor who originated the role, if it looks like he really is the age he suppose to be portraying.
-
right next to Cox Smokers Outlet
-
somehow a G got in the name. sorry about that.
-
...opens the door to hit on some of the best facets of Wolverine's character. By X3, he was completely domesticated. No claws, so to speak. Here he could be more wild. More of a natural born killer. And Sabretooth would still be around to spar with. I approve.
-
would mean that they ply a shithouse of botox and surgery on Brian Cox, more or less. to rejuvenate would be to renew, not to doctor. i agree, though, "young-ified" is hardly part of the beautiful language.
