America’s Crush Jenna Fischer Joins Judd Apatow, Jake Kasdan and John C. Reilly in WALK HARD!!

Published at:  Jan 29, 2007 3:31:39 PM CST

I am – Hercules!!

AICN readers know writer-director-producer Judd Apatow (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Anchorman,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Talladega Nights”) has “Knocked Up” (his latest big-screen collaboration with fellow comedy god Seth Rogen) in the can.

Less known, perhaps, is that Apatow has co-written and is about to go into production on another project – with “Orange County” writer-director Jake Kasdan – titled “Walk Hard,” which reunites Apatow with “Talladega” strongman John C. Reilly.

It mocks dirt-poor dope-addled womanizing Deep South musician biographies like “Ray” and “Walk the Line.”

Now Jenna Fischer, supercute female lead of NBC’s “The Office” (and who played “Woman #1” in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”), has landed the June Carter Cash role opposite Reilly.

I like Apatow and Kasdan, but...

...this concept sounds completely uninteresting. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

but Little Miss Sunshine is quirky!

    by ctu mole

It features a quirky family with...quirks, that all the sloth-like hens at the office say, "OMG! That is SOOOOO my family!". It brings people together. And the director wore a jaunty fedora at the SAG Awards, so he's hip.

    by childe roland

...if it takes a turn in the middle and becomes more like the Bachman Book "The Long Walk." It would be satisfying to watch the actors in one of these bad spoof movies (which are the cinematic equivalents of Weird Al songs) forced on a death march for a bit.

    Jenna in "40YOV"

    by therevengeofbayouwilly

She played the chick looking at electronics that they tried to get Andy to talk to, and when he walked up to her, chickened out and talked to a dude instead. That's when they decided to hire a prostitute that turned out to be a man.

This movie is mocking other movies

    by bizarrojerry

It's not supposed to be mocking Johnny Cash and Ray Charles, but the biopic style movies, which most recently were the ones based on those two guys. Strange how similar their stories are. And there is a certain formula to these kinds of movies. And I don't want to offend, but, "Oh, boo hoo, I'm a drunken, drug addict who cheats on his wife. I'm rich but I use my vast wealth to buy more drugs and cheat on my wife." Yeah, my hero. Incidentally, I want Jenna Fischer to father my children.

    Hero worship

    by affleckwasthebomb

Total over reaction to this i feel.
Anchorman was the funniest film I've seen in years, 40yr old virgin was good, Talledega less so for me but I know a lot of people who love it so I think these guys can make a funny as shit parody movie, better than shit like the scary movies and the number 1 film right now in America 'Epic Movie'
I know they may make a slight pop at the genre of movies that dealt with your heroes but at least these guys have a comedic pedigree.

    Jenna in 40 YO Virgin

    by poacher

She's in the very beginning of the scene where they go to the club and Andy picks up Apatow's wife...she's one of the girls sitting on the couch hanging out (not the bachelorette party, before that). She might be in it in another place, but that's where I remember her being.

    ROGEN IS A COMEDY GOD!

    by oscarbait

Look at his resume. How many people at the age of seventeen had a number of scripts produced for the show they were starring in? ('UNDECLARED' IS GENIUS!) Very few to none. Of those, Rogen is one of the few to deliver a hilarious and poignant product. Not to mention his work with 'Ali G' and uncredited re-writes on '40'. He will rule the world when this movie comes out. Just get on the bandwagon early if you can. "I don't want my name synonomous with bad sex...How was you're date last night? Oh, I got Ronned...he totally Ronned me"

    ROGEN

    by j skell

I think Seth is very, very funny and more importantly he keeps his comedy rooted in realistic conversation and characters. He strikes me as the kind of guy we all know, that guy who is easily the funniest of your friends. He's not an other-worldly star, or a performer, but more of a comedy-everyman. I never think he his stuff qualifies as genius, but it's ALWAYS funny.

While that Raimi/Hobbit news is interesting...

    by childe roland

...I find it equally interesting that Koepp has been hired to script Spidey 4 already. I had hoped that franchise would have the class to go out a trilogy. But I'll reserve judgment on whether penning a third sequel is a good or bad idea until I've seen the second (Spidey 3). Even if Raimi doesn't secure The Hobbit, I hope they get someone with his sense of whimsy to direct it. And I hope the fucking media stops referring to The Hobbit as a "prequel" to Tolkein's Lord of the Rings trilogy. The fucking book was written first!
