AICN unveils Luc Besson's ANGEL-A Trailer!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... ANGEL-A is a wonderful film. It's sad that it might end up being the last live-action film we get to see from Luc Besson. I found it to be a remarkable film. If you have someone you love, take them to see it. Imagine if Clarence the Angel from IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE was a hot, oh my god yummy, angel... and instead of owing money to a Savings & Loan... it was Loan Shark money, in a town where nobody knows you - and everybody who does, wants you dead. Essentially - that's the set up, and this film is heavenly!
Here's the Trailer in Giganto size - have patience:

I love this director, so much visual beauty in all of his films
-
Luc Besson, I like your style!!!
-
Yeah, I said it. I recall downloading my first QT vid over a decade ago, and it was awesome at the time. Now it is slow and cumbersome. QT is not all that it is cracked up to be and neither is this trailer. Dumb moron falls for hot chick and will do anything for her. Whoop dee damn doo doo.
-
That looks great. Looks like she *is* an angel after all.
-
..strange French warm feeling inside.
-
........But her character will be in the film?
Shed some light Knowlesy! -
It's already on dvd here and... well, it's crap, and the story is utterly déjà-vu.
-
... and believe me, it's Besson at its worst. Also, you Americans consider too much Besson as an excellent filmmaker, because he comes from France, so he's got to be excellent.
-
Expect my review next week!!!!
-
.....Passed on the Role of Harvey Dent........Which is Nice!
-
You have a very confident opinion on people's idea of France.
Just saying. -
Quicktime is the engine under the hood of Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, iTunes, etc. Although more and more pros are choosing to cut their films in Windows Media.
-
C'mon Harry, how can you say that! Angel-A is by far the worst film ever made by Besson. The story is incredebly dumb, and that totally kills the film, because, yes, the photography is beautiful, and so is the actress, but that doesn't make a good film. The final scene made me laugh, ridiculous as it is.
-
Pretty much.
-
Whose idea was it to spell it either Angel-A or, as it appears in the trailer, ANGEL-bullet-A. It does seem kind of condescending to spell it right out like that. (Get it? She's an angel!) Either that, or she's Kid A's mom.
-
zachary mayo is right,in france and like me in belgium we laugh at Besson 's films. And yes it's his worst film to date. The only good thing i can say is the photography and the soundtrack. The acting is so bad and the script is to be ashamed of. So corny so so corny...
-
and now hearing all the negative reviews on this, I think I'll pass. Enjoyed the Professional, and 5th Element was such a mixed bag. I like Bruce Willis but there was some annoying shit in that movie (um, Tucker).
-
The man needs to get on a diet and get hungry again. This movie was terrible and yes guys he is just one of the most original directors of our time! And by the way, wasnt he supposed to make some cool SAS based movie instead?
-
But she can't be French, she shaves her armpits.
-
you crackhead
-
But if i acted on the average talkbacker's opinion I would never watch anything. I'll give it look on DVD.
-
But the trailer didn't make me want to see it. And I have mixed feelings with Luc to begin with, so the trailer for me was going to sway me one way or another. For instance, the Good German hasn't really gotten great pub, but I'll eventually check that out.
-
nobody cant deny the impact of some of this guys movies.. It might be Besson's weakest effort but still I prefer Angela over the ton of other crap reviewed on this site.
-
I really loved that movie, with Jet 'unleashing' a fine performance.
-
..not directed man. But I agree I did enjoy Jet's acting skills very much myself, plus the soundtack by Massive Attack was incredible. Besson is CEO of Europa wich is one of the biggest film productions this side of the world.. guess the man is busy: major factor in not getting his mind on directing again. My favs by Besson are The Last Battle, Nikita and Leon.
-
Can-D is completely right. Yet another Besson cop-out, shoe-horning his latest squeeze into a misguided flick. Don't even bother with this on DVD. From a great set-up in the first 90 seconds, it crashes so hard and bad it was painful. It took all I had not to walk out of this.
-
seriously, he was going into the Arthur and the Minimoys premiere in London. This obviously makes me very cool. He didn't look at me or anything and I pretended not to be looking at him but I'm still cool right.....right? Aw c'mon!
-
C'est magnifique.Luc Besson directed my favourite film, Léon, but I haven't been interested in anything he's done since. I recommend Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Patrice Leconte instead.
-
So I take it this new woman is the new Mila? Poor girl. Give it a couple of years and she'll shack up with a crap British director and spend her time kicking zombie dogs in the snout.
It's nice to see a new Luc film but it appears to be similar to what has come before but in the wonderful media of black and white. Still, it is Luc Besson and I'll give him his chance. -
Big blue was great, Nikita fantastic.
Angel A dire, 5th element was crapola, Chris Tucker and Besson are cunts. -
It pales in comparrison to the greatness that will be Snakes on a Train.
-
Thank fuck I'm getting the Seraphim Falls ads now, instead of that irritating Ace of Cakes shite. That almost made me wish I lived in America and owned a television, so I could purposefully not watch it. And why is it necessary for ads to chase my eyes all over the screen? If I want to look at Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan in cool hats, I know exactly where to look. Likewise, if I wanted to see some fat bastard with the kind of beard butch girls would have if they could, I would happily scroll up to the appropriate corner. The fact that I am checking out other content on the page does not mean I have forgotten about Ace of Cakes; it simply means I have other interests here besides submitting to your super-liminal marketing campaign. Note to whoever approves this bollocks: please don't let it happen again. Thank you.
-
Qui?
-
Had to be said, folks.
-
I'm a cock, ignore me. I though I was being clever writing "yes" in answer to your long question in French but I wrote "who" qui not oui. Rendering a piss poor joke incomprehensible. Apologies and boy it can be hard trying to be a smart mouth fanboy on AICN, oui?
-
Damner vous à l'enfer!!!
-
No apology necessary, Boba Fat. Actually I wondered if you were asking who Jeunet and Leconte were; fortunately I didn't post some explanation or the joke, and talkback, would have been completely lost.I'm still angry at AICN for a talkback a few weeks ago, wherein I made some smart arse joke over two posts, only for the powers that be to post the second before the first, making me look like a three inch knob.

A double post in which I complain about posting idiocy. How utterly fucking ironic. Thanks, life. You win again.
-
Souillé!
-
Et il est le propriétaire du "suck".
-
Apparently Luc Besson was the executive producer on Guillaume Canet's cracking thriller "Ne le dis à personne". He should be trying to blag a US release for that, not peddling more crap that isn't "Léon".
-
Sorry, French language.

C'est vrai.

...cannot comprehend the genius that was The 5th Element. It's really that simple. Good day, sirs.
-
I await this film with bated breath (and a hard-on.)
-
but I'll be there because you just don't get to see quality B&W cinematography much anymore. And that looks quality indeed. As for the film - again, when someone tells me a Luc Besson movie sucks, I tend to believe them. You can pretty much split his directing career at LEON. Everything up to and including LEON is a gem. Everything after, well, FIFTH ELEMENT has its fans, anyway, but I ain't among them. As a producer he's much more interesting. TRANSPORTER 3, Luc. Do it now.
-
Has one of the worst scripts of any film I've ever seen. Just throwing that out there.
-
You know this to be true.
-
...when Springfield had a film festival, and Barney submitted his "Don't Cry For Me, I'm Already Dead" short? For some reason, that's what came to mind when I watched this trailer. ---> http://tinyurl.com/ytluuy

Bandidas 2 The Good, The Bad, and the Straight to Video
by spandau belly
Oh yeah!
-
the proffesional of course, the rest of them suck the air just like harry's inlfatable fiance
-
fanboys can turn on their gods at the drop of a hat. and one point i'd like to make...anyone refering to Leon as "The Professional" has no business talking about films because you havnt even taken the time to watch the original cut of it. the american version is shit and if u prefer it, so is your taste in movies
-
the only good movie this guy has done is THE PROFFESIONAL
-
......Yes, "The Professional" was good, but "Leon" was better. Watch Natalie Portman when she was 12, and then watch the latest batch of Star Wars movies, then tell me George Lucas is a good director.
-
It played at Karlovy Vary with English subtitles. It's been touring Prague since then with only Czech titles ever since. Hear it's shit, but a great single night out in Paris, with great lighting, only it's lighting hollow dialogue and a unfulfilling journey without clear intentions to begin with, or motivation, or meaning..
-
there, i said it
-
as long as mr cruise doesnt do the role in drag everything is fine.....im glad damon is not dent, wouldnt have been right for him.hope norton gets that role......still cant picture ledger as joker...and im glad that hack writer with the tattooes that messed up blade is out of the pic...fifth element is a gem,i would have liked it more with less slapstick but its still a gem...so is the great blue.
-
Didn't Hans Moleman win for the film of him getting hit in the crotch by a football?
I don't know, I'm just saying boo-urns. -
BIG BLUE, LEON, and LA FEMME NIKITA. FINAL COMBAT and SUBWAY aren't bad either, but not up to the standards of his three classics. Basically, my theory is that Jean Reno keeps Luc Besson's directorial skills locked in an heavily guarded airtight box that he keeps under his floorboards, and only allows Besson access to them when he gives him a role. Why? I have no idea, I don't pretend to be French, so I can't say it makes any sense to me, but I have no other explanation. As for the parts of THE FIFTH ELEMENT that didn't suck - Matthieu Kassovitz had a bit part in that, perhaps Besson stole a tiny piece of his filmmaking soul and used it in place of the skills Reno's holding hostage - it would explain most of Kassovitz's post-LA HAINE films, the loss of a tiny piece of soul.
-
Is it? Or is it just that you girls can't admit you have a problem?
-
.. you should compare BResson to Scola. Films are variegated in many forms, genres and styles. How can it be all generalized like that dude? Besson made awsome movies man, you should recorgnize. And yes Kassovitz is another god. With the laking of Junet as well I hope these guys come back strong some day.
-
Yeah, this is totally news (sarcasm btw). The DVD's out on Tuesday.
-
I'm with H. Weinstein. I really like Bessons work. Nice to see someone mention the black and white no-diaglogue, FINAL COMBAT. Besson beat the great Spielberg to the punch in that regard. In addition to being entertaining IMHO, Besson movies have their very own visual and emotional imprint. I love SUBWAY for that, even near the end when Christopher Lambert's character breaks out in song.In a day of remakes, copycats, and film makers who readily "lift" elements from other people's unproduced scripts, I appreciate him even more. There's a reason the man has a following.

a remake of the proffesional would be better
by patrick swayzes greatest fan
just imagine, directed by mciahel bay, staring bruce willis and bryce dallas howard as a nun instead of a 12 year old whore and christian slater as the bad guy, and just call it leon... man that movie would be ten times better then the original
-
i totally didn't realize the actor only has one arm!! fucking awesome.
-
he tries too fucking hard to be cool.
-
The Fifth Element, the great delivery on all the dialogue, and the sheer spectacle of it, then I feel sorry for you. At the very least, it gave us a sci-fi vision of the future that wasn't the hackneyed grim-rusty-dark-broken-down nihilistic stuff that's in almost every other sci-fi movie.
-
...not like Samuel Jackson, Travolta or Mos Def and the like. Besson is Euro-cool!
-
