The unparalleled Father Time sent in this concept art from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END, as well as divulging a few more details about the film.
I’m really digging the mix of fantasy & metaphysical in this movie; these designs have me stoked and I can’t wait to see all of this realized on-screen. Evidently, I'm one of the hapless minority who thought DEAD MAN'S CHEST was a vast improvement over the first film (although it was certainly flawed), so I'm pretty psyched to see how such glorious madness is handled this time around.
And, I'm still waiting for Chow Yun Fat to find a supremely kick ass role in an American movie. He's up to it, but...thus far...his few U.S. projects have let him down. I'm hoping this is the one...

...This stuff looks really cool, but the first movie didn't go this far out into the realm of fantasy. The three movies will definitely not feel like a cohesive whole. That said it might be fun, unless it's as bloated as the second one.

Before you call a movie "shit". If Pirates Dead Man's Chest was shit then how the hell do we define ACTUALLY bad movies? You see there's different levels of bad, not everything can be shit. Black Dahlia, that was shit. Pirates was a decent film.

I like Pirates 2, but it feels a lot like MUMMY RETURNS

Much larger scope, more action, but Pirates didn't suck. However it does feel long, and I am never one to complain about movie length. The film just drags somewhere in there. The mystery is just too extended. eh.

well, I didn't think DMC was better than the first film, but it certainly was my fave Hollywood pic of 2006 (as far as I'm concerned you don't get more British than James Bond - and I enjoyed Casino Royale so much that takes first place on my list, even though it was probably financed by the US, but hey if I look deep enough I probably am to).
Anyway I hope that wonderous cleavage is accurate on the Keria pic (I'll call it "The Last Supper" - the picture, not Keira). Otherwise they should replace her with Christina Hendricks. Now that would make World's End my fave film of 2007! (this is coming out this year, right?)
Oh, and Chow Yun Fat is brilliant! So more of him, more Hendricks, and more cleavage. So say me all. -

I just don't get all the love for these films. The first was an average adventure fair, reasonably entertaining but not much else and don't even get me started on Depp being nominated for any awards let alone an Oscar for that performance. DMC looked pretty, the affects were brilliant but it was a 2 hour plus film that was there to set up the 3rd movie. It was overlong, you could of said what needed to be said in about half an hour.
I do think this one could be good fun though and as I said the art looks good. -

...reminds me of something very similar from the adventure game Monkey Island 2 (LeChuck's Revenge!). I wouldn't be surprised if they used parts of that classic series for inspiration.

Both films were very entertaining, but there seemed to be a real shift in the feel from the first to the second. In the first film, there was a genuine fear of the unknown and much of the movie was being shown from the point of view from the law abiding side of civilization where any pirate was considered to be a criminal at best and a murderer at worst. There was even a stronger fear of the supernatural aspects of the curse and what it did to the crew of the Black Pearl. In DMC, the story was being told from within the 'pirate' point of view where the daily world is made up of thieves, trickery and supernatural goings on. As a result, the tone of the film changed from the first being more a fear of the supernatural to being more of an action/thriller type of movie. There was no real fear being displayed in regards to WHAT Davey Jones was only in what he could do as far as being a villian/bad guy because the story was from the point of view where the supernatural side of things was accepted as a normal part of every day life. To me, it was because of that difference in the point of view that the two movies felt different. No better or worse then the other, just different. As a personal preference, I liked POTC a bit better, but think that's more because of Geoffrey Rush's Capt Barbossa then anything else. It was his reappearance at the very end of DMC that moved World's End up to a definite opening day must see film for me.
Oh yeah, also love KK's boobs in the art. If they were only way in the film the world would be a much better place.... -

Pirates 1 was a compact, witty and extremely well put together film. DMC was a bloated, long, and sometimes very dull film with a plot that was ridiculously convoluted. Still can't wait for three.

sucked. I know it's the middle film in a trilogy, but it really felt as if there was little structure or character development. The whole Cannibal scene was enjoyable but ultimately pointless and made the film far too long. I think the lack of a rigid structure, and pointless sword fights, made the damn thing last five hours. Hell, Dr. Schivago felt shorter than Dead Man's Chest. At World's End is going to have to be a masterpiece to recover from Dead Man's Chest. The first movie is still tops in my book.

. . . DMC could have been great and only suffered a major lack of editing. A BUNCH of stuff could have been cut out. Every bit of the escape from the cannibal tribe could have been cut out. I was never more anxious to get get up off of my ass and start walking as I was at the end of that movie. Especially since I stayed to see the lame ass clip after the credits everyone was talking about here. My wife about strangled me over that. The credits were as long as the movie.

I was looking at my watch at the two hour mark thinking, when will this thing end??!!Curse was a surprise huge hit, so the logic is lets have more of everything in the sequel...unfortunately box office proved them right...must be love for Depp...I thought Spiderman was a superior sequel, because it does what a sequel should...deepen characters, continue storylines,etc.

but they have some fantastic art design behind them... The ghost pirates of part 1, Davy Jones and co for part 2, and now things like the island made up entirely of wrecked ships and asian flavor pirate whatnots. I liked DMC and i think it will really be complimented by AWE (to the point of silencing some of the haters, perhaps?). And for those who said that DMC doesn't advance the storyline? There was alot in there tied into the original film, so much so that I sort of regretted not rewatching curse before watching DMC. I think it did a great job of continuing the story and showing us sides of chracters we hadn't yet seen, like norrington, for example. There's alot there, i think, if you pay attention.

they're not giving us a trailer or a teaser poster.... this artwork was the first really idea we had of what the film would be like and they've gone and removed it... people are bored of waiting!

You know I want to hate these movies but I can't. They do exactly what they are supposed to, escape. Are they going to set the world of fire? Nope. Academy Aware winners? Not a chance. But for pure popcorn fun I enjoyed it as a mindless romp. Deep is funny. The movies have been well cast and god bless um they have done well above and beyond what I thought they would have. Honestly I was on the train that said the 2nd installment would fail and was totally wrong.
I look forward to the 3rd and hopefully final chapter. I think it would be a mistake to keep this going after this conclude this story line. -

i am not sure if you will take this as solidarity, comrade, but i did kind of at least enjoy both films equally. *SPOILER* i just hate it when a "middle" film is not a complete film, ie you have to go and see the next film to see the end of the story.

note, Disney requested the pics to be moved. Disney did not annex this site or large parts of the Eastern Internet. Disney did not gas 6 or so million web designers. Disney did not invent the highway. Disney did not host an Olympics. Disney did not invent the Volkswagen. Disney did not resolve hyper-inflation. Disney did not create a legacy of confusing politics in Italy for several decades (OK, this point is debatable, recalling the Italian porno of Snow White i saw). But most importantly, Disney probably has more than one testicle, and they certainly do not have one on display in the Albert Hall.

I'm not going to be one of those over-reaction types who refers to a movie that was simply a disappointing sequel as "THE WORST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN", but I really thought DMC was a mess. It was poorly paced and that part at the begining with the savages was funny but pointless and added too much running time, when we all know a plotless movie should be short and sweet. DMC was sort of like a big long Scooby-Doo sequence with a bunch of people all running around chasing each other and trying to steal or steal back the same couple of objects.I also think that making parts 2 and 3 two halves of one story was a bad move. They did this with the Matrix and it also resulted in two movies that were both bloated (the third one was especially padded out) and mispaced.I would have rather they made standalone Pirates sequels like Indiana Jones.
