I thought you folks might enjoy these pictures. They were sent in by the all knowing, all seeing Father Time.
These images pretty much speak for themselves. Disney is gearing up its publicity behemoth for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END & I'm told these represent some permutation of theatrical display fodder (posters, banners, etc.)
So far, I'm diggin' the look and style of the campaign. PLEASE NOTE: there's a chance this work may not be final. If true, this is still an interesting glimpse into the prmotional development process.

Those are all well and good, and I'm digging the mist (I mean.. don't they have to bring Jack back from the afterlife? Good shit), but I've got a problem with these images, adn it's the same problem I had with Dead Man's Chest: KIERA KNIGHTLY NEEDS TO GAIN SOME WEIGHT! I mean.. I love her, absolutely love her, like full on blush and can't think right whenever she comes on the tv, but her drop to unhealthy skinniness has just got me upset. Now I don't care what actors' personal lives are like, but when their eating problems are taking me out of a good movie, then we've got a problem, you know? This girl could be the biggest starlet since sliced bread, but if that's going to happen, she's got to take care of herself. Poor girl.

I like these promos shots. I'll make up my mind about pirates 2 when i see pirates 3. If 3 sucks, 2 sucks, vice versa. They're one film (one tooooo long film) cut in half. My opinion anyhoo.

I thought that was a given. She weights like 9 pounds. It's funny...my husband always says she looks like a man. Look. I'm not going to say that you say you hate this movie just to be cool or elitist or whatever, because I have sometimes found myself hating a film everyone loved (Sin City). But that doesn't mean I'm letting you off scott free. If you hate Pirates, you hate fun. Pure and simple. PoC is the most fun movie franchise out there.

Pirates 2 had about 2 minutes worth of garbage CG gag scenes that pulled the whole movie from down from potential greatness to asstacularity. Rotating gatling canons? Squid snot? Gravity defying wooden pole gymnastics? Bullet time? Pah-leeese. On the upside, it shouldn't be too hard to do a phantom edit... just a few well placed cuts and bada-bing - a movie worth watching.

the overall blahness of the second film to bad editing. The story was good, the acting was great, but it just felt disjointed. I feel like if they released a cut called "PoTC 2: Edited by Someone Without Attention Deficit Disorder" people would have a new appreciation of it.

If Jack shot dead Barbossa and left his body on the island where the cursed treasure was, then how is it possible for Barbossa suddenly appear human again somewhere else? Because logically Barbossa should really be back in spirit form seeing as his dead body is still on the cursed island?

Absolutely. I'm finding alot of the massive blockbusters are getting spoilt with strange editing. Mission Impossible 3 is another good example. Lots of good scenes, a decent story, a GREAT villain but it just didn't hang together.

potc1 was long, dull and damit just no fun for me. potc2 was not only badly written it was badly edited and badly acted. and the cliffhanger.... it just didn't work for me.... but good for you if the visuals were enough for you.

I remember liking them while watching them, but remember hardly anything of the details afterwards. Just the feeling of wow, cool. Kind of like a rollercoaster. So I'll go see #3, but have no plans on buying any of these on DVD.

... that Dead Man's Chest was one of the better sequels to come along in some time? Jeesh, you guys are a tough crowd. I honestly don't know what else you could have wanted from a Pirates follow-up. And I LOVED the cliffhanger ending.

Although the original was good, the sequel was much, much better IMO. Yes, I agree it got a little slow in spots and the script could have used a little polishing, but the story was much more complex and better thought-out than the original was. As I've said in previous posts, my only real complaint is that the character of Elizabeth is almost completely useless in this movie. She doesn't really do anything to advance the story until the very end and doesn't even have any comedic value until the "Beach Fight" scene, near the end. But I love the villians (both Davy Jones and the EIC Bigwig) and the return of Barbosa was, while predictable early in the film, nice to see.

Got a little info for you guys, the Pirates of the Carribean series is (brace yourselves) MADE FOR KIDS!!! Yes, that's right, it's a kids movie! If you don't appreciate that then there is no way in hell you'll ever enjoy the movies. I completely understand this is for kids, and I enjoy the movies for what they are. When was the last time Disney made a movie for 20+ geeks anyways?

quit trying to be the obscure love child of scorcese and copola who thinks that only picaso on film is good cinema... movies are about entertainment and the POTC franshise is almost as good as it gets when it comes to entertaining. They are well written, well acted, great characters, great scenes, great costumes, and great CG (comon freaking davy jones is dang good CG). The world fell in love with Star Wars when it wasn't cool to bash entertaining flicks... why can't you like POTC for what it is now, instead of trying to be someone you really aren't.

The poster's like all these great actors...and Orlando Bloom. He JUST gets away with it in Dead Man's Chest because he's got Stellan Skarsgard(sp) and a fucking amazing turn by Bill Nighy (and amazing CG work) as Davy Jones to play off. He only has two acting styles - angry shouting and cheesy 'dramatic' whispering! Anyhow, all the HATERS can fuck right off. Dead Man's Chest was amazing and will be made even better once the story's conclusion is resolved in At World's End. Also, fucking spoilerfuckingriffic Barfuckingbossa in the poster!!

First off, I have to say that I love these movies. The first POTC is somewhat of a flawed classic in my eyes, while the second is a guilty pleasure. Dead Mans Chest should have been a hell of a lot better than it was. Jack Sparrows entrance is one of the best of all-time though, and it does have some brigh spots. Here's my point of the post though: It hit me the second time I was watching this, in the scene where Jack falls hundreds of feet on that cannibal island and then gets up and is able sprint to his ship. WHAT IF JACK HELD ON TO ONE OF THOSE AZTEC COINS IN CASE OF SITUATIONS LIKE THESE? Walking around as a half dead pirate? Sounds like Jack Sparrow to me((and hence his coffin escape). If im right and Worlds End kicks ass, this is definetly one of the better trilogies of all-time.

Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest are both great films but I think so many people are now used to huge blockbusters that suck donkey balls that they can't recognise something brilliant. Their attention span cannot physically last longer than 80 minutes, concepts such as 'story' and 'character' mean nothing to them, NOTHING can exist in the movie outside of its set genre (that's why so many people were pissed of with Dead Man's Chest, they thought they were going to see a comedy and didn't realise that Curse of the Black Pearl wasn't a comedy and that Dead Man's Chest, as the middle of a trilogy, was always going to be dark). Stupid.
