An absolutely bizarre and long foreign trailer for MR. MAGORIUM'S MAGIC EMPORIUM is here...

Published at:  Jan 08, 2007 4:28:20 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Those crazy Russians are at it again! They've been throwing pics up like crazy these last few weeks, including a ton from a little film called MR. MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM, starring Natalie Portman, Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman. I thought Portman looked radiant, Bateman looks like... well, like Bateman, and Hoffman just looked bizarre.

Well, I thought he looked bizarre until I saw him moving.

I don't know what to make of this, but it's gotta be the oddest big budget picture coming out this year. The Russians got the trailer... it's super long, almost 5 minutes, and seems to go through the entire film. So, spoiler warning... Enjoy at the link below, while you can still get it! It's in a weird DivX/.avi quicktime format, but with a little tinkering I got it to play on my Mac courtesy of the awesome VLC player. Thanks to "orionsangels" for the head's up!

TRAILER LINK IS PUSHIN' UP DAISIES, TAKIN' A DIRT NAP, FEEDIN' THE WORMS. YOU CAN'T FIND IT HERE ANYMORE! YOU'LL HAVE TO GO OGLE NATALIE PORTMAN SOMEWHERE ELSE YOU PERVS!!!

A bit short maybe, but I really feel it presented a complete story, you know? Nothing was left out, no threads left hanging for the audience to wonder about. So nice to have closure in such a short feature. --- ...what do you mean, "a trailer"?

    Vog From Dimension X

    by bender7

It wasn't called 'Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes back' when it was released. It was simply Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back or more commonly 'Empire Stikes Back'. 'Episode x' was introduced with the new prequels. Plus that was a sequel to a hugely successful film with a short name; 'Star Wars'. Hence, my theory is still kickass

"Yup. That's why you can't play an .avi file. But, hey, it looks cool and makes you feel creative for only $3000--What the hell?"....

you can get one for much less than $3000 and if you're in the graphics field, you pretty much have to have one. just like if you work with macromedia products its best to use a pc. photoshop is shit on a pc however.

Wow, if you really believe that then you're an idiot. I've been a graphic designer my whole life and I gave up on Macs years ago - after using them my entire life and discovering that ALL the Apple propoganda is flat-out fabricated misinformation. PhotoShop is exactly the same on PC as it is on Mac - but the Adobe program suite integrate more fully on PC than it does on Mac. Furthermore, with with the 2.0 releases of the Adobe Production Studio applications, the Mac has absolutely zero monopoly on any aspect of the design industry. You can get a faster, more reliable PC for less than half the cost of an equivalent Mac. My PC has a more efficient workflow, it's faster, and FAR more reliable than any of my Macs ever were. Ie, Santa doesn't really exist. Sorry. But you really shouldn't believe every television commercial you see.

Who wrote this, anyhow? I can take the egregious swipes from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Big," "Harry Potter," even "Rain Man" (Hoffman is definitely using that persona again, with a little soupcon of the guy from "I Heart Huckabees"), but when they out-and-out steal from Diana Wynne Jones' "Howl's Moving Castle," I have to draw the line. This looks stupid and predictable, not to mention really forced and overly, self-consciously "magical." And Portman and Bateman seem to be inhabiting two different movies.

The Episode Numbers were introduced with the original theatrical release of The Empire Stikes Back. As there was no internet at the time, anyone who hadn't read STARLOG magazine said "what the fuck?" but some of us knew what was goin on.

...but i as well have been a designer for more than a decade now (not my entire life as thats not exactly possible, such hyperbole leads me to believe you havent left your teen years yet) and if you cant tell the difference between the mac and pc versions of photoshop then i would hate to see what kind of crap output you must put out on a daily basis. i've been using macs and pc's side by side since the 80's. you are aware that the world we live isnt black and white, correct? what a concept! two different machines having their own strengths and weaknesses. i do concede that many in video game industry only use pc's. i mainly work in print and web however. and wouldnt touch a pc for any kind print work. but like i said i hate using my mac for my Flash work.

What's up with the geeks and their hate towards the mac platform? Why do they always come up with these lame stories about friends who work as scientists, hackers (lol) or who work for superduper companies 'their whole life' and how they all laugh at Mac. Answer: they see their precious PCs as R2D2 units that you can build; just like little anakin did. ain't that sweet? Macs just get your work done. how boring is that? oh and you can' play games on 'em..
