ABC Greenlights Pilot For MR. AND MRS. SMITH Sequel Series!!

Published at:  Jan 02, 2007 12:45:44 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Doug Limon and Simon Kinberg, who respectively directed and wrote the big-screen “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” are tackling the same duties for the TV pilot. It goes without saying the Pitt and Jolie roles will be recast.

It will be set six months after the movie.

Funny thing is, CBS briefly had a 1996 Scott Bakula-Maria Bello TV series about covert operatives posing as marrieds. It was titled “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” With an ampersand.

Learn more of both series here!

Thirded (is that even a word?)...it was a bad movie!

    by filmcritic3000

What an unmitigated disaster and the fact that Doug Liman was involved was heartbreaking. Everyone praised it endlessly and then I finally saw it on DVD. A torturing two hours filled with lame "banter" and a pervasive feel of "look how cool this is, ain't we hip?" crap. Yawn. No doubt this will be more of the same.

    Yep the movie sucked

    by shivv

In fact all non-indie movies suck. Except for the original Star Wars movies, which I masturbate to furiously. Oh, and Lord of the Rings too. I jack off watching the Frodo and Sam scenes. That doesn't make me gay though. Come on guys, the movie was a fun popcorn flick. And a pretty good one at that. Stop being so serious and have a little fun.

but I couldn't stand "Mr & Mrs. Smith". I like both Pitt and Jolie as actors but this one didn't work for me.

Close, but I think it was more like 'the ampersand.' AMPERSAND. AMPERSAND!!!! THE 'AND' SYMBOL!!! (on mute) jesus fucking christ (mute off) the....AND....symbol. ON your keyboard. shift and 7. No shift AND 7. Hold down shift and press 7. It typed '7'? then you didn't hold down shift.

Actually, a TV series might not be that bad..

    by ironmuskrat

If they do it right and don't cast a couple flavor of the month pretty faces for the leads. Keep it gritty, sort of an Alias/The Shield hybrid. As a matter a fact, cast Michael Chiklis as Mr. Smith. Wait, better yet, just get The Shield back on the air so we don't have to watch any more of these lame ass movie spin-off tv shows...

How is this ANY different than the show SMITH?...

    by danielkurland

Other than the fact that these characters are marginally developed a bit more. Will Adam Brody reprise his role?

Does this mean Brad Rowe will work again?

    by drath

I mean what else would you use him for but as a Brad Pitt stand in? I mean we know this'll be cancelled by episode 7 anyway. The only good thing about the movie was John Powell's score, so I doubt the show will be any good.

If this show's any good, it'll be the next Buffy.

    by nice marmot

Cause the movie sucked!!! And I can appreciate a "fun", "popcorn" flick. This thing failed to be that. My wife watched it on HBO this weekend, from the shootout/fight/sex/house explosion to the mini van chase, that's all we could take. Awful. The writing was crap & the two leads act like they don't want to be there.

Get Ben Browder and Carla Gugino for the TV version

Of course, there is the Gugino Curse factor to consider. She's the new Ted McGinley.

    Carla Gugino vs. Ted McGinley

    by bizarrojerry

No, Spyguy, she's no Ted McGinley. Ted's thing was he showed up as a new character during an attempt to save a washed up show, that is promptly cancelled, anyway. This happened with Love Boat and Happy Days. Though, he didn't sink Married With Children. He appeared midway in that show and was a fun character. And keep giving Carla a shot! She's got to stick in something!

    Actually, I liked it

    by fawst

I didn't think it was deep, it certainly had some flaws, but overall it was fun. And Angelia is fucking insanely hot. What a great excuse to sit in front of the TV and drool over that body with my fiancee (who is also drooling as she watches). I was actually hoping for a better sequel. Better in the way that Underworld: Evolution was better than Underworld. You know, MUCH better? And actually... the weakest link in MaMS was Vince Vaughan.

People really hated Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

    by childe roland

I mean, it wasn't an important or meaningful film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was fun for an hour and a half. I have a theory: people who disliked/hated/dismissed that movie entirely have never been married. Because those fight scenes inside (and around) the house were hilarious.
