Wanna see some gruesome I AM LEGEND set pics to help ring in the New Year?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some set pics, courtesy of "Harrison Gantz," from the set of I AM LEGEND. Count me a tad pessimistic about Will Smith's take on Richard Matheson's classic, but nobody wants to see the novel done right more than me... Now, watch for spoilers... these are snuck, low-quality pics, but you get your first look at the "vampires," and some cool signs... and gruesome bodies! Happy New Year!

and "first"!!!
-
Mommy?
-
A nekkid Will Smith dancing in church to "War". Might be a little more pleasant to look at than Homer Simpson...
-
...is there going to be vampires or zombie, or is it like both, maybe vompies?
-
this is gonna suck!
-
Any other lines I can expect Will Smith utter?
-
that'll teach ya to try to keep this moronic tradition going.
-
just the type of dude I'd like to do that too. What the hell is that jackass doing in front of the bus anyway?! And yes, the vampire zombie deer looks bad ass!
-
Are there any other great movie ideas this jackass cam muck up?! I seriously wish him and his wife would just shrivel up and blow away!!
-
That deer doesn't even look close ot real! And as for another line we can expect out of Will Smith: "Oh, you did NOT just shoot that green shit at me!"
-
Those are props. Those are grainy camera shots. Of course they don't look good yet. Things are done in post. Also, how long do I have to wait before people realize they shouldn't listen to you self-righteous, attention-seeking never-happy fucks?
-
What is it with all these crappy animals?
-
Will we get to see them file and collelate?
-
WHITE ZOMBIES ! Let me guess that the deer will be standing in the road forcing Will Smith to crash his car so the Zompires can get him...
-
... does that sign mean that Santa can't catch the regular flu?

Harrison Gantz, you just got fired you twat!
by Talkbacker with no name
Just saw his u tube video (thanks for the link Deep Cover). Looks like he was an extra in his first (and last) movie. <p>"You just got fucked"...er no Gantz, you just got fucked! What a fucking idiot http://gantztruth.ytmnd.com/
-
Put a porcelain deer in it.
-
They'll fix him in post production. Dude getting fired is better than a kick in the nuts. I'm happy now. Have a nice new year ivhadsex - you can die now.
-
...and he won't be comin' 'round to spread his cheer.
-
They dont have will smiths charecter doing any cliche black shit like in I,Robot. Cos that shit is pathetic......he is an actor, let him act. None of this "oh look at my trainers" crap. Cheers....Happy New Year from the UK, is 1.30 am. lol
-
This film will suck. Start as I mean to go on.
-
Plus it's 'Happiness' rather than 'Happyness' surely...?
-
Oh by the way - Happy New Year, really...all the best. Now, over to the panel...which film is going to suck the largest balls this year?
-
Drat you all to hail!
-
That explains everything - you must be under a lot of pressure, there.
-
They look virtually the same. NOICE.
-
Pull yourself together. Cher? If you have a chance to stop this torture then do so. We live in Godless universe where we can create and shape our own destiny. For me, I think 'Transformers' will be the film this year where I will witness my own brain dribble past my eyeballs but then I have a hunch that the 'auteur' that is Tim Story won't let me down. 'I am Legend' may well be from the same place that spawned 'I Robot'. So it's looking good round isn't it?
-
You are absolutely correct, I didn't consider that! Oldman RULED in that film, still freaks me out to this day.
-
"Aaaawww, hail naw! I'm 'bout to rise up on these crackaz! They can take my woman. They can take my food. But, they DO NOT jack wiff a brutha's ride!"
-
LOL. Sounds like an indie goth band name.
-
Saw it advertised in the local press round our way as 'The Decent'...not quite 'beloved aunt' standard but for a second it lifted the gloom...*jeez 2007 was going so well...*
-
Oldman was fantastic in that...Alan Clarke was a God.
-
Sugarbabes less impressive. Although 'Overload' pisses over most girl-band-type fodder.
-
That's that Blonde-haired Latin America girl performer, right? Took me ages to realise that she sang as well...
-
...and out of place Fresh Prince type humour.
-
...a whole brace of "you sure are a bunch of ugly mo'fuckers"-style gags. Will Smith. Too soon. Too Silver. Flames. Nipples, you name it.
-
...I'll be waiting for that line.
-
Zompire repellant"...etc etc etc...flashes mobile phone...punches Zompire...jumps into specially featured/advertised car. Hey maybe Will should take on more sci-fi? Childhood's End? A 2001 sequel possibly?
-
Pics look good but....it still has Will Smith in it right?
-
Terrifying.
-
Jada Pinkett Smith tells WILL what movies he can do. Yes, she wears the pants. I know for a fact in this film he'll utter the line- "Zombie! You're the disease and I'm the cure!"
-
Are you ok? Oh, in Ring 2 Naomi Watts' car gets attacked by deer. It's really stupid.
-
I have always wondered about that. If you don't think he can act, go see Happyness. He is great in it and he give a performance of subtlety.
-
Ali, Wild Wild West, I, Robot, Shark Tales, Bagger Vance, Enemy Of The State and Independence Day he plays the same character and they're ALL ANNOYING!
-
I think there is a general group of people who must think they are above everyone in terms of pop culture consumption, they think they have vastly superior taste and so they find certain things to shit all over. Last year it was Crash. Crash was the hipter movie to say you hated. The year before that was Million Dollar Baby. There are actors that fall into their crosshairs as well and I would bet you these haters are either failed artists or (more likely) people who never even tried to be.
-
Bagger Vance and Ali are unlike anything he has done (if memory serves he got an Oscar nomination for Ali). Those two characters are totally different from the I, Robot/ID4 persona.
-
in the pictures? Did we really need to see that fool?
-
sent these pics into AICN. Apparently he wanted these pics posted all over the world wide web. It's sad, really.
-
Yes Barry Egan, but the films you mention tend to fall into Will's 'serious-worthy-Oscar-potential' movies, whereas the 'great man' being attached to big-budget sci-fi usually signals the 'mindless-popcorn-entertainment-fluff' side of his work. Now I have nothing against that latter category per se but as a fan of both Richard Matheson and Issac Asimov and all the films that ID4 ripped off so blatantly and poorly it appears that 'Smith plus sci-fi' tends to add up to 'massive disappointment'. I've been waiting best part of twenty-odd years to see a decent version of 'I Am Legend' and I suspect the casting of Will Smith suggests that instead of something really exciting, thoughtful and inspirational we'll get another shitty, simplistic film that will go down well with people who don't want the concepts so much as the 'big bangs'. This smacks of a wasted opportunity is all (again). Also I am not a failed artist - I just have an opinion is all. *Rant over*
-
Horror films about adults are cool.
-
how was that?
-
are we the only two people on here? and in my defense, i live in LA and it's only 10:00 here.
-
"Ooh, I'm sorry, you don't get the job. We were looking for someone who sucks more"<br> <br> And for the idiot mugging in the pix, somebody punch him in the throat
-
...can anyone tell me what the future will be like?
-
...for easing my fears. But tell me, will everyone in the future have such unusual names?
-
What we hate is Movies that we make fun of but in our gut know that it is more than a 50% chance that this will suck as bad as we joke about here because this has been filmed twice before and even with a book that had many unused scenes what we do see looks more like the movie versions Vs getting a film written by someone who loves the book and is not remaking Chucks version or Will Smithin' the story to pander to Will's fans. Our anger is from the worry that the book gets tossed like I-Robot did "Well it had Robots in it!" to " Well it had Zompiers in it". I still can watch ID4 and enjoy it ( even with the plotting deal breakers that piss me off) but I have never watched WILD WILD WEST after seeing it in a theater once.... That is why we worry about a Will Smith movie here because when it is BAD it is really BAD and these photos make us nervous. Oh I just watched "the Descent" DVD and did it have the same ending as the theatrical version because that was pretty grim.
-
Prince doesn't change to that symbol thingy and Ben Affleck continues to make movies...then and only then I can continue to cling to my hope. Thank you voice of the year ahead...my colon sucks.
-
It's always helpful to us people of the present past to know that the people of the near future live in the utopia we, the people of the present past, have all wished for.
-
who could be a good actor if he chose to actually act but instead seems to have decided to dedicate a sizeable portion of his career to ruining genre properties. FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE!
-
who dreamt he was eating his shoe he awoke in the night in a terrible fright and found it was perfectly true!
-
who's parents thought they had lost her from the fridge came a sigh and a terrible cry now the problem is how to defrost her
-
That is all.
-
Did a Google and now I know the DVD did have a different ending that the US version in theaters. Phantoms was da Bomb! so I've heard said but can't recall. I did pay to see it. Didn't Sci-Fi channel do a Phantoms 2: Ectoboogaloo?
-
I am now in the year of 2007 myself....I have learnt Keanuku...DUDE...and it is as your 2007ders say....BOOTYLICIOUS!!! FERGIELICIOUS!!! And dare I say...KEANULICIOUS!!!
-
I feel like such a sense of calm and righteousness.
-
Klatuu Barada Keanu Klatuu Barada Keanu Klatuu Barada Keanu
-
Just got back from watchin' the ball drop ( I'm in Cali) and didn't know Dick Clark was hosting tonight , thought it was all that Idol guy. Was that a combover on Dick? Keep on rockin' dude! Whooah! That Keanuku is really catchy. I didn't know things would be like this IN THE FUTURE.
-
as long as the opening grabs me. Hence my love of the Rocky series. Let's see...to serve man...chapter one...it was a dark and stormy night...hmmm..so far...so good...
-
Are these photos from the ending of the movie? Do they drop a bomb on NY? Look at the ground around the Fire Truck...looks like a big boom. NIGHTMARE SCRIPT: ends with Smith walking out thru the smoke after the blast that kills all of the Zompires and as he looks down at their burnt corspes Neville sez " NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT " Now the door to the fire truck opens and his dog jumps down and runs over to Nevile. Neville " WHERE WUZ YOU 5 MINUTES AGO !?" The dog covers his face with one paw and looks sad. Neville (to the dog as Neville gets into the car.) " OH COME ON GET IN!" The dog jumps in and licks Wills face as they drive off into the sunset with a HIP-HOP (off the I AM LEGEND SOUNDTRACK ) track blasting over end titles....I could be wrong : )
-
Yep bitches Where the Day Takes You was smiths only good movie. Men in Black and the FIRST Bad Boys were tolerable. But he can't act. He would have made a fine Comacho in Idiocracy.
-
I don't really have anything to say.
-
Way to go. Congratulations on becoming an internet phenomenon... the wrong way. Unlike I, who became an internet quasi-phenomenon the right way, by posting snarky comments like this. And by helping to defeat Satan himself, Supershadow.
-
I am withholding my bile until I see the fukka. The book is fantastic. <p> And who is playing Cort (sp) his friend?
-
One of the things that was cool about the book was it took place for the most part in guy's neighborhood. A lot of the vampires attacking his house every night where people he knew. Especially the one vampire neighbor he hated so much. Placing the movie in a large city doesn't make any sense to me, it takes away from the lonely, claustrophobic feeling of the book. Oh well..
-
He would go for a couple of movie roles against type. Maybe try doing a role as a serial killer or a bad guy. Something to offset that squeaky clean image of his and the fact that he ALWAYS has to be the hero, really lame. Hell, he should just do anything instead of the tired "Fresh Prince" stuff we see in basically all of his films.
-
Sure, it's not going to be Matheson. OK. I've accepted that. But it is going to be a big budget sci fi film about an apocalyptic plague, and there's still a chance for it to be good. And the pics of the bodies and fires make me think maybe they are going to make this worthwhile. Of course, the pics are static shots of things this PA guy was interested in shooting, and it's possible that since this film will no doubt be PG-13 that you won't really see anything like this in the finished film, except for quick cuts and as deep background set dressing - but hey, I can hope, right? Because even THIS film allows Smith to "go against type" if they decide to make it extremely gruesome and horrific instead of a shiny happy IRobot adventure.
-
I like Will Smith, but this role (if the film is true to the book), really needed someone more world weary. Russell Crowe was my number one choice. Denzel Washington would have been good also. Anyway, we have Will. The one thing that is non-negotiable ****SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T READ THE BOOK**** is that he must die at the end. That is all.
-
Edgar Rice Burroughs "The Mucker" Harry mentioned the character during the Stallone Q&A. That was some darn fine reading. Brutal, pugilistic mayhem at its best.
-
Although he was tits as Tea Cake Walters in "Made in America." Oh, and AW-HELL-NO !
-
when it was called the stand. but at least they've put black people in this one :)
-
will go the way of the book. HELL NO! They drove off at the end of the US version of The Descent and Will Smith will drive off at the end of this. HE IS HERO.
-
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down...
-
has gotta go...worst AICN catch phrase ever...oh and this film will lick balls too
-
Not exactly a cinematic Mona Lisa but mundanely entertaining. Although the "ragified" infectees are not exactly vampires, the stories basic theme and structure that the protagonist finds himself in are quite similar. Also, similarities abound between that "pig-face" episode of the Twilight Zone and the "I am Legend" plot.
-
find the youtube link about and look at this douchebags video...god ull want him dead...arrogant prick
-
you're already in mid-season form! Be careful though, you are treading on stooopider ground with the multiple postings in a row. Just say no.
-
and you've got the Indiana one under control.
-
Will laying down a smooth catchy rap with vampires dancing all crazy and funky. Which is funny because can vampires even dance. Of course I'm hoping the deer is in the video working the turn table. That'll be too sweet.
-
Indiana Jones thread. There ain't shit being posted right now, so one's gotta do what one's gotta do to keep oneself amused. And this movie will probably be as good as the Indiana Jones one, meaning not good at all.
-
I'm not sure I am. I'm taking the approach of "lower expectations" may lead to "better than expected" results.
-
I love the book. I also love both of the films that were made previously, LAST MAN ON EARTH with Vincent Price and the ultra-wacky but badass THE OMEGA MAN with ol' Chuck Heston. To be honest, I'll have a more defined opinion once I see the trailer. In the meantime, I'm more excited about the 28 DAYS LATER sequel.
