Alex de la Iglesia frames a Hobbit for the OXFORD MURDERS!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here! If you do not know the name Alex de la Iglesia, get thee hence to your netflix account and search out DAY OF THE BEAST (Dia de la Bestia) - for you horror/comedy/cult/weird fans, CRIMEN FERPECTO for you dark comedy fans, 800 BALAS (800 Bullets) for you coming of age/western fans and ACCION MUTANTE for anyone that loves bizarre, fucked up cinema. It's a celebration whenever Iglesia has a new movie in the works and his next flick sounds great. It's called OXFORD MURDERS and it looks like a murder mystery/suspense flick about murders on the campus at Oxford. A student is intrigued by this murder and ends up trying to figure it out under the tutelage of a Sherlock Holmes type that uses logic and math to solve the mystery. Elijah Wood has just been cast as the student, joining John Hurt who will, presumably, be playing the Holmes type. Can't wait to see John Hurt in an Iglesia world! This movie is one of my most anticipated films in production!

This isn't the sequel to Oxford Blues is it? Because Rob Lowe gotta eat too.
-
He was great as "voice" in The Tigger Movie.
-
Oh God. Pound Sand, that's cracking me up and I don't know why.
-
This makes de la Iglesia's first film in English then. I hope he's brushed up in the three years since I met him.
-
Throw a Sherlock Holmes type in there and you have a cool sounding movie for Geeks who love to read. This does sound good.
-
One of the best British actors around! Saw him in Rob Roy (the film that Braveheart could have been) the other day as he stole the show as the evil Montrose yet never once overact. Pure class.
-
For The people who wanna see the best Hitchcock-hommage ever!!!
-
Better than all Tarantino-films TOGETHER!!!
-
Don't ask me why I followed orders and went right to my Netflix queue, but it's got one of those "save" buttons. I queued Accion Mutante. It better be good.

That was a good read - turn of century serial killer book. The follow up - The Angel of Darkness was a let down but ....

is good fun. very weird. Cherry Valance, look it up under it's spanish title, that might work. El Día de la bestia.

I actually met De la Iglesia at the Seattle International Film Festival a couple years back, and he was a riot. he LOVES to chat with people about movies and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of cult horror movies. he was overly gracious with me and my fellow film student geek friends, talked to us for hours, even after his publicist tried to whisk him away 3 times.

this one looks good...I love logic and math! nerd up, Frodo!
-
He is the hombre.
-
I'm a huge fan. This guy's brilliant. I love Crimen Ferpecto. Can't wait for this one.
-
...will the detective in Oxford drive a classic car, like real ale and listen to opera?
-
Is listed under the SAVE section as in not available at this time at netflix sadly. Johnny Got His Gun has been sitting in the SAVE section for a good Light Year.
-
Oxford is collegiate, not campus based.
-
is Monday of 1st week HT, and shooting will take place for 9 weeks (the term lasts 8 weeks) - i wonder what college they'll be shooting at - hopefully ChCh
-
Hopefully Merton ;) They shot Iris there, and I saw a shot in "The New World" done in Merton Street. I'll concede you Harry Potter though.
-
¿no será una inocentada?
-
You know ch ch ? Went there. I hear they've been prowling around Turl Street filming Northern Lights - sorry, Golden Compass.
-

was hilarious.

than in Val Kilmer 2.

...I just don't enjoy most foreign films. I wish I could, but not understanding the language, being forced to read subtitles, it just doesn't work for me. Not enjoyable at all. And I've tried - for 25 years. Just can't do it.

... i keep hearing about?
