Zombie picks his Michael Myers!!!!

Published at:  Dec 30, 2006 6:20:43 PM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some Christmas Eve news for ya'... on a very happy, family, holiday flick... Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN remake. Just the other day, Zombie announced Malcolm McDowell as playing Dr. Loomis, a pretty nice choice. Now he's announced who Malcolm will be chasing down, the man behind the Shatner mask. Here's the heads up we got below, with the name! Enjoy!!!

Hey Guys, I just found news about who will be playing the adult Michael Myers from Rob Zombie’s myspace website…… It read as follows;

………….Here's more exciting news for the holiday break. Adult Michael Myers will be played by TYLER MANE.

I'm sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from The Devil's Rejects, Sabretooth in the X-Men and the unstoppable Ajax in Troy.

Tyler is mean, lean and ready to bring you the most psychotic Michael Myers yet……….

Just find news of this VERY INTERESTING.

I like to know who’s autograph I will be getting at all the Horror and Sci-Fi festivals I will be attending for the rest of my life. I check your website daily, so if you scoop anything about this movie, I would love to know about it from you. Thanks for all you r infor you gave me over the years.

If you use this, please post me as FRY DADDY

This should be a great movie, im not to keen on the whole remake thing, i think its being done to often now, revivals work for Live theatre. But Movies it just doesnt seem right(to me anyways).
But its great that the movie has a director who really has a lot of respect for the original and has picked a great cast so far.

cant wait to see Malcom Mcdowell as Dr. Loomis.

    I'm a bit worried

    by dimnix

I loved Devil's Rejects, so I wasnt too upset about Zombie being picked to direct. Better that it's somebody with an actual vision than some random doing this remake. But in this movie... they're having Michael Myers be the child of a stripper with an abusive boyfriend, and now Tyler Mane is Michael (muscular guy? I dont know about that) and Zombie's talking about it being a real study about Myers himself, with him being the main character, and we get into his head... if it all comes down to him being the pissed off son of a stripper who was abused, I'll be furious. The whole thing with Myers is an almost complete lack of character, just pure evil.

So now we will have a WWE looking Myers jerking off to dead animals? LAME! So should we expect Haig, Sherri and the rest of Zombie's gang show up in this useless garbage? Wasnt the coolnees of Myers that he wasnt MASSIVE and he could still kick your ass? Anyone 6'10''.....how am I supposed to believe that anyone could take him down? Ugh. I hope Zombie really kills this remake craze...and his lame movie career next August!!!!

    by inwosuxred

A nobody, an washed up actor who hasn't done shit in decades, and the guy who ruined Sabretooth. These aren't things you announce, these are things you hide until you have (hopefully) something good to show. This is like showing off that picture of Megatron. I'm sure they'll cut a rocking preview to this shitfest at somepoint, that is what you announce.

I dunno about a Michael that dwarfs Jason......

    by darthbinks1220

6'5" Tyler Mane turns the boogyman into his second-rate knock-off, Jason Voorhies. Michael never menaced by his size, at least not in the original. His evil was more cerebral, and psychological than physical. That's what made Carpenter's classic so chilling. The Crystal Lake slasher is camp by comparison. God, I hope this isn't going to be Friday The 13th Part XII!

    by dogsoup

Seriously, Tyler Mane played him like a glorified grunting dog. I'm not pissed at this casting though because Michael Myers is a nonspeaking living tank so as long as I don't have to hear the rassler try to act, I'm ok with "Move here and slash" "Stab her from behind and make the mask look into the light" direction.

I have a problem with how nowadays directors seem to just hire some huge beefy guy when casting Jason, Leatherface, Meyers etc. instead of looking for someone who can bring a certain personality to the character. Love both of Rob Zombies other films so i have high hopes for this. Im more of a voorhees fan, although the first two halloween films were cool. Atleast it wont be some by the numbers piece of crap. I cant imagine Zombie catering to the retards, itll be as gory or as tense as it should be. I hope its a 18 though....if its a 15 certificate, then im not gonna watch it. Im fed up with kiddie-lite horror, when i was a kid everything was a fucking 18, now they have horror films for 12 year olds.

Tyler Mane is not Michael Myers...

    by wchblade

That is at least he shouldn't be.

I'm a fan of Zombie's radio-played music and I actually liked Devil's Rejects definitely more than Corpses. As for Tyler in the role of Michael Myers - it's all wrong if sticking at all to the original concept. Tyler Mane showed his ego to a lady friend of mine at Wizard World Chicago a few years back after we were done signing and everyone hit the local bars.

Getting back on topic...M. Myers is a lanky dude of slightly than average height. Making him any bigger and bulkier is just lumping him in with Jason and his umpteen copy-cats. The one thing I was really praying for in this reboot was to keep the mask the same as the first film or even 'Resurrection' (the mask was the best part about that film) and for Michael to remain physically as close in character design to the original concept as possible.

The son of a stripper? Getting into Myers head? Jerking off to dead animals huh? WTF?? Pathetic. Zombie can pull all this stuff he think is disturbing out of his ass and it just goes to show how unimaginative he is. Will someone explain to his poser that what was so frightening about Myers was the nothing was known about him. Getting into the character makes him Michael Myers, the guy with family issues instead of The Shape-evil personified. What makes him scary is that he killed for no reason - nothing was known about him. Sigh. After 30 years and countless (terrible) sequels theres still only ONE TRUE Halloween movie.

Michael Bay should remake “Ordinary People”

    by i_snake_plissken

I don’t really get why Zombie would want to remake Halloween – it’s a true classic, and stylistically it’s a polar opposite of the type of films he makes. I guess there’s some guaranteed money built into trying such a high profile remake (Texas Chainsaw anyone?) Still, what gets me is that it’s the subtle elements of suspense that make Halloween so effective – and since Zombie can’t slow down, I think you’re going to end up with something that’s Halloween in name only. Just go back and watch the five minutes leading up to Laurie’s first direct encounter with the shape – slowly walking across the street while Carpenter’s great score sets the ominous tone -what a fantastic example of creating tension. And (Halloween II retcon notwithstanding) what made Myers scary was the fact that there was no clear motive, so creating a back-story also messes with what made the original so great. Halloween is easily one of the scariest films ever made – it’s a shame it has to be revisited. Of course, since the series has already been completely bastardized, why the Hell not? At least in Zombie’s version, Myers probably isn’t going to get into a fist fight with Busta Rhymes (and McDowell is a good choice).

But I'm not sure what you can do with this one. The 'guy who stabs girls' genre is so used up, it's difficult to know what new twist you could add to the formula. That said, this Rob Zombie should win some sort of Most Improved award. The House Of Exactly One Thousand Corpses was utter garbage, but I thought Devil's Rejects was actually pretty good.

I check out this site everyday and the feedback just continues to stay the same. Everyone bickers and moans about any type of news regarding any new movies. If you're not going to say something constructive or smart, then why even write anything at all? Save your whining for after the movie comes out in theatres...So far, I think the casting for this movie is very interesting. I like TDR and think that a fresh start to this franchise is much needed. No more generic, unartistic approaches to horror movies would be nice for a change. I mean unless you guys prefer movies like Jason X or Halloween Resurrection...Ha. There is a reason Zombie was picked and it is beyond us at this point to give him crap before we fully understand his vision for the franchise. He seems to respect and admire the early Halloween movies, so that is good enough for me as of now. I believe this movie will surprise a lot of people...

If the storyline is anything like the original, how could Michael get that buff while being locked in a room in an insane asylum? How would he have access to the free weights? And how would he have gotten ahold of his protein powder and steroids? I guess Rob isn't going for logic in this remake. I just hope he goes for horror instead of torture.... if that's possible for him, that is.
