The MPAA Clears The Nastiest HOSTEL PART 2 Poster Imaginable!!

Published at:  Dec 20, 2006 3:47:28 AM CST

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

The fine folks over at CHUD.com have your first look at the HOSTEL PART 2 teaser poster up, and... well...

Let’s just say that I’m still wrestling with the tail end of a 40 hour bout of intense food poisoning, and looking at this poster just set off another twenty-minute bout of rolling around on my bathroom floor while whimpering God’s name.

Thanks, Eli. Thanks, CHUD.

You can see what made me queasy riiiiiiiight here!!

    by franklin t marmoset

I like that this is Hostel Part II, rather than the more obvious Hostel 2: Hostel On The Move. It's much classier, so I am expecting great things from this one. A boob, surely, will be severed at some point. This Eli Roth has already shown that he is the master of fag jokes and suspenseless horror, and I am looking forward to this insightful dissection (geddit?) of misogyny and biting (gedditgeddit?) commentary on the poor housing conditions of battery chickens.

    by beastie

I thought that Hostel was a well thought out idea with wonderful morals and ideas. I liked the paralels between the prostitution at the beginning and the torture factory towards the end. He put a lot of work into making it more than just a horror flick or, as I guess it's called here, torture porn. However, I think a sequel kind of cheapens the effect of the morality of the first film. I have a feeling that this one is just going to be gore for the sake of it. I'll hold my judgement until I see it, but I just don't see this idea working twice.

    by dirkd13"

Untill I watched Saw III with that dude in the rack. That was just too far for me and it was just dragged out for ages. That's the first time that "torture porn" or "goreno" went beyond entertainment for me and now i've been put right off all of it. Consequently this film, which I was intending to see, has just lost all appeal to me.

I don't know, maybe I'm too old, maybe it's because I've got grown children the same age as those who are thrown to the wolves in these movies, but I'll just have to take someone else's word for it that these films have any redeeming value at all. If you're entertained by "torture porn" (what a legacy that will be for film students decades from now to dissect and argue over), then by all means go ahead and let the rest of us know what we're missing.
I can't properly judge anything I haven't seen, but I still haven't seen anything that will motivate me to risk a couple hours of my life squirming through Hostel or Saw XXV. If I have a choice, I'll stay home with Reds or ET or Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The Simpsons or The Wizard of Oz. The rest of you, knock yourselves out.

I don't need some dude being heroic and snipping a dangeling eye ball out - that's not suspense. I really thought (how stupid of me) that this would be a "out of time nail biter" and I all we got was some juvi behind the camera making fag jokes and tossing gore. Guess that makes it a perfect poster for this film, which -- like throwing up after St. Paddy's -- I will try to avoid but will likely find myself suffering through and swearing silently "never again...never again." But only so I can rightfully rebuke any ass clown who tries to defend it after its release with the whole: "You didn't even see it." argument. Usually I endorse that stance, but does anyone really need to see another Roth film to know it will be shit? I think he's slipped himself nicely into the Boll category of telegraphed expectations.

but its an obvious attempt to gross out people - its cheap - yes, it looks like meat in a butcher shop - but the movie is about human torcher and mutilation - so what we are meant to see when we look at this is a tight shot of some mutilation done to a person - its a type of porn - obviously - putting such an unapologetic close up of the very thing that is the drawing force for such a movie as this is cheap easy and tasteless - its porn - some peole get off on this the same way some people get off on "regular" porn - if i were looking for a porn dvd full of blowjobs and facials id be drawn to the one with a big close up of the act(s) - or a chicks face during or right after the act - this poster is using that same psychology - someone somewhere will see this and get a hard on - thats whats scary

MPAA will approve this crap, but not the original poster for "Hills Have Eyes 2" because it had a more realistic body? Lame. The first "Hostel" was purely violence for the sake of violence with little to no story behind it. At least "Saw" has a great story to go along with the violence. There is really no reason for a sequel. "Quentin Tarantino Presents" is slowly becoming a warning label to signify total crap.

Gross. As much as I would love to be the one to say that artists should have the right to put whatever they want out to promote their movie, there's a line. That's not art. And I'm starting to sound like my grandparents, God Help Me, but there's a line. Come on, guys. Ten year old kids are going to walk by this on the way to see Shrek 3. If I were a parent, I would be absolutely fucking horrified. I refuse to see any of this "Torture Porn", as some of the other posters have dubbed it, because yeah, I do think it's going to give some sickos brand new ideas. Mr. Roth, when you film "Cell", take a cue from Hitchcock. Less is definitely more.

what exactly am I looking at when I see this poster? A lot of people are saying gross and sick and what not, but I'm not sure what that is. Is it supposed to be out of focus? No really...

    you know what

    by aaron0matic

movies like Hostel and Saw are the cancer in the body of the horror genera and movies in general. No I'm not a big horror movie person but WTF?! Your cheering to Torture Porn and you people cant understand why the world sucks? Fuck people movies like this should make you get up and leave the theater. Also i think that if this keeps up in movies (dear God don't let that happen) that the only good piece of horror entertainment will be video games like Fear and and the such...

Looks like one of my bro's album covers

    by sepulchrave

Carcass stuff. The track titles are even better. This (the movie poster) is crappy, unimaginative stuff and it bores me. Torture is nauseating and boring at the same time. Did anyone see that those US marine got charged with UNPREMEDITATED MURDER in Iraq; apparently they accidently raped a 14 year old girl and then massacred the whole neighborhood to cover it up; anyone care? Meh. Welcome to HOSTEL America. It's worse than Bratislava or the Brazil of 'TURISTAS' any day.
