The FAKE BNAT 8 Line Up!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... as always - I create a line-up of alternative films that are somewhat related to what is actually playing in that particular line-up spot. SO - here we go... but remember - this isn't actually the line up, but if you want to play along at home - here's the titles that might thematically be in play.
1. SHOCK CORRIDOR (1963)
2. SHOW BOAT (1936)
3. A MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE (1966)
4. WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION (1957)
5. THE SET-UP (1949)
6. TEENAGE MOTHER (1967)
7. I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF (1957)
8. THE CONFORMIST (1970)
9. THE QUIET MAN (1952)
10. LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974)
11. CALIFORNIA SPLIT (1974)
12. SPIDER-MAN 3 (2007)
Well - that's not what we're about to see, but for all of you - you can get your hands on nearly all those titles to watch for the next 24 hours... the 12th one will be a bitch. As for me, it is time to sleep sweet dreams of cinematic delirium!!!

right?
-
Where's your Apocolypto review?
-
2. Dreamgirls
5. Rocky Balboa
12. 300
-
I've never guessed one film right! Not even lemony snicket!
-
Spidey 3 is pretty hard... if it's a comic book movie, it's 300. If it's a superhero movie, I would assume Ghost Rider.
We know it isn't Fantastic 4: Silver Surfer Extravaganza! -
i will have a shot, as it were, that Show Boat is Rocky Balboa, although it was the Italian Stallion's opponents who did more showboating.
a rough cut must be as good as ready, maybe Spiderman 3 is Spiderman 3?
-
Luckily, I have the other 11 in my collection.
-
The Nativity Story?
-
1. Shock Corridor is set in a mental hospital. RR’s section of Grindhouse involves a virus escaping from a hospital. I’m guessing some kind of Grindhouse footage.
2. Show Boat = Musical = Dreamgirls
5. The Set-Up = Boxing Film = Rock Balboa
8. The Conformist = Spy Film = The Good Sheperd
9. In The Quiet Man, John Wayne escapes the big city to retire to the country. Hot Fuzz, anyone?
11. California Split = Gambling = Smokin' Aces
12. Spidey 3 = Comic Book Movie = 300
The others are, I’m assuming, the older selections.

Children of Men.
-
The post-BNAT movie that screens on Monday.
-
Pro-Life?
-
You know Harry's going to screen it.
-
Screened tonight. It's the pre-BNAT film.
-
features a disgusting birthing scene made "by doctors for doctors". jesus fuck it is horrifying.
-
Maybe that's too superficial of a guess. Anyway, that's all I got.
-
One of the better non-western JW movies imo. Also it =Rocky Balboa, JW was a boxer in the movie.
-
You guys are all guessing these are hints for newer, more first-run films. I thought for the BNAT festival it was always chock full of old classic movies? (with maybe it finishing off with one big name brand new flick)
-
that't the word. only because Brewer is tight with AICN.
-
Is this a mindfuck, or is Harry just masturbating ?
-
I knew I should have kidnapped Yoko from the shoe store and held her ransom for a BNAT ticket. She works with my girlfriend, and if I don't get in next time... Muwahahaha. Okay I'm just kidding about kidnapping her. Just a little bummed you didn't accept my shit you big red haired douchebag twat. Oh shit, man, I didn't mean that either. Just venting, you know? >:)
-
Just from how hardcore this site has been about it and that we know there have been screenings one would just assume. If it turns out to be Ghost Rider I can't wait to read about the wave of ambivalence it's met with.
-
somehow 300 doesn't seem to fit. so is the site gonna be shutdown for the next 2 days or what? who's the unlucky bastard who has to stay at geek central and post stallone's comments? damn....i knew i should've applied, totally slipped my mind till it was too late...

What if #12 is actually the diretors cut of Superman Returns?1.We all know Harry loved that film waaay more than anyone should have.2.AICN publicized the fucking hell out of the flick beforehand. Take that as you may.3.The fact that despite the film being a box office disappointment, Singer has stated that he would only show the cut Krypton sequence on the bigscreen, and I highly doubt that moviegoers or Warner Bros. for that matter would swallow a rerelease. Thus one would assume, that the fully restored film, and possibly Singer himself would show up. But then again, after the majority of AICN trashed that thing, even I'm doubting my crackpot idea.(Note: Keeping the film in theaters for as long as they did just to get the box office over $200 million, which would guarantee the greenlight of sequel, was cheating. Plain and simple.)Oh, and if anyone replies to this post, which I'm sure y'all will, PLEASE, for the love of Claire Bennett, DO NOT, turn this into the gazillionth, X3 vs. Supes debate. It's tired. Honestly.Oh yeah, #9 is..... Bean. ;)

I'm the only person that ever posts at 5AM on a Saturday morning....I suck.
-
It's 3:30am West Coast Time, 5:30pm Central and I'm posting. Don't feel so bad. Hints for figuring out line up: Harry stated earlier that there would be a lot of new movies this year. 7 new & 4 old were numbers he gave earlier, though that can't be valid anymore since it doesn't add to 12. The first movie is always an old movie, then followed by a big premiere. The second to last movie is an old one chosen by Tim League, followed by another big premiere. At least, that's how programming has gone in the past. I shall now puzzle over the list more.
-
...I have my Christmas movie must watch hitlist up at http://tinyurl.com/y47n5g
It's not fake - it's the real thing. -
That Harry had a bunch of movies bail out BNAT last week. He talked about it on MySpace. Whatever miracle he pulled, he did by sheer will of geekiness or just pure insanity. So the lineup has been dramatically changed. Can't have perfection every year that's for sure. But I am sure Harry pulled this one off beautifully. Have fun watching 24 hours of movies you lucky bastards! I try to get in next year. Happy Birthday Harry!

Good theories all but I think it might be slightly different. My comments are in parentheses.
1. Shock Corridor is set in a mental hospital. RR’s section of Grindhouse involves a virus escaping from a hospital. I’m guessing some kind of Grindhouse footage. (That or Hostel 2 I would think because Eli Roth is done with the movie to my understanding) 2. Show Boat = Musical = Dreamgirls (Definitely Dreamgirls, or something else that we might have not heard of) 5. The Set-Up = Boxing Film = Rock Balboa (There is no doubt there. Especially with Stallone being so involved with this site this past week, I would not be surprised) 8. The Conformist = Spy Film = The Good Sheperd (Possible. Or he might show some older Spy movie) 9. In The Quiet Man, John Wayne escapes the big city to retire to the country. Hot Fuzz, anyone? (I would think so. Either that or something not so much thematically but with the Duke instead.) 11. California Split = Gambling = Smokin' Aces (Again, possible, I think he might go with another older gambling movie, like the original Ocean's 11) 12. Spidey 3 = Comic Book Movie = 300 (With all the talk that this flick has been getting, I would certainly not be surprised. Then again, it might be Ghost Rider, a very early cut of Sin City 2, or even a very early rough cut of Spidey 3. The Superman Returns Director's cut is another possibility as I know there were scenes that had a subplot explaining why Superman had left in the first place and gave Kal Penn more dialogue. That is the one that really has me thinking) The others are, I’m assuming, the older selections. -
Except not.
-
I have a feeling an early cut of STARDUST will be brought by Matthew Vaughn himself.
-
A Man called Flintstone was the first full-length Flinstones film. And the Flintstones WERE the longest running prime-time cartoon before the Simpsons.
-
That's right! I completely forgot about that one! That would make sense that The Simpsons Movie would be in the lineup. Good call. Can't wait to see the reviews from the lucky bastards that did get in. I want to know what they got for the geek swag this year...
-
With special guest John Landis.
-
Some sort of Altman tribute?
-
In my secret twin language
-
...and every full moon grabs his Bak'Leth and strikes down those without Honor.
-
Usually only 4-5 titles are new films. That said, I have to believe Rocky Balboa is in the mix.
Shermdawg: "For the love of Claire Bennet"? Nice! -
...if these asshats got to see the simpsons movie!!!
-
Who's gonna blog BNAT8 as it happens?? We had some good ones post what showed in prior BNATs. Any URLs, y'all??
Kwame OUT -
Teenage Mother might be Shoot 'Em Up, which focuses on Clive Owen attempting to protect a newborn baby from hired killers.
All my picks can't be kosher since so many of them are 06/07 films, but I think new films might dominate this year. Also, I don't think Shoot 'Em Up and Smokin' Aces will both be in play, as they are both high-octane action films. I'd think an Altman film would make it in there somehow, probably The Long Goodbye (another Altman-Gould collaboration) or McCabe & Mrs. Miller (which has a ton of gambling in it, literally and metaphorically)... or if he tracks down one of the rarer films, Thieves Like Us... -
It has to be Spidey 4, right?
-
probably means Blood and Chocolate since it comes out early next year.
-
This first prediction is probably wrong, but I guess Shock Corridor could be a rough cut (with Eng Subs) of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK. It adds a foreign layer to the list, though since it doesn't come out in Singapore until Jan. 25th, I doubt it's in the running.
Also, I think I have the answer to California Split. What movie takes place in CA, is set in the 70s (and has a huge 70s flavor visually), and has an ensemble cast very much in the spirit of Altman? The answer, ladies and gents, is ZODIAC! -
With Special guest Don Murphy!!!
-
They had people asking people in line if they were fans of transformers and had a hdv cam and interviewing. So yeah...probably transformers
-
grindhouse and fanboys.c'mon!
-
not even harry could pull that.
-
What, NOBODY is blogging this mofo??
-
Someone tell me that Zodiac could be one of those. And, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Spider-Man 3 actually is Spider-Man 3. Wouldn't that be a fucking curveball?
-
As I said above... I think I have the answer to California Split. What movie takes place in CA, is set in the 70s (and has a huge 70s flavor visually), and has an ensemble cast very much in the spirit of Altman? The answer, ladies and gents, is ZODIAC!

A late-night feature on Green Bay's WACY (weekends) is the "Ned the Dead" movie program. While it has moved around the schedule a lot, it can currently be seen Saturday nights around 10 pm. The show features a B movie from the fifties (usually scifi or horror) with "Ned" doing wraparounds and comic relief. Read about Ned the Dead here: http://www.milwaukee-horror-hosts.com/Green_Bay_hosts_inline.html Very few locally produced shows like this exist anymore and the station which airs Chiller Theatre would much rather replace it with paid programming. If you live in the northeast Wisconsin area show support and watch! If you liked Joe bob briggs then you'll love Ned the Dead! Yeah!!!!!!!!
-
Could this be the new TMNT movie? Just wondering. Maybe that is too obvious.
-
I imagine that applies to laptops as well as phones.
-
the carrier pigeon!
Herc, you're not there? -
equals RATATOUILLE. c'mon!
-
That was my first guess (the California connection), but I had no idea what California Split was about.
-
1. SHOCK CORRIDOR = RR’s Grindhouse segment, “Planet Terror” [Maybe I’m a Cyborg, But That’s Okay]
2. SHOW BOAT = Dreamgirls
3. A MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE = Vintage Film
4. WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION = Vintage Film
5. THE SET-UP = Rocky Balboa
6. TEENAGE MOTHER = Shoot ‘Em Up
7. I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF = Vintage Film
8. THE CONFORMIST = The Good Sheperd
9. THE QUIET MAN = Hot Fuzz
10. LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES = Vintage Film
11. CALIFORNIA SPLIT = Smokin’ Aces [though I hope it’s Zodiac. However, the whole cocaine transporter contest really points in this film’s direction because the main character, Buddy Aces Israel (Jeremy Piven), is a cokehead)
12. SPIDER-MAN 3 = 300 -
Where are you getting this info that 5 of 7 new films pulled out? Did I miss something...?
-
First film was black snake moan....second was dreamgirls which is still running...I walked out, I fucking hate that movie
-
You sneaky bastard. Wish I was there, man. Have a good time.
-
I totally guessed Black Snake Moan on my application...Guess it didn't help me too much.
-
Does anyone else think that some type of romantic movie will be attached to BNAT seeing as how Harry's going through this whole courtship thing...?
-
I'd say Wild Things would be a good choice.
-
Yeah - a no electronics policy...from a guy who built his empire on a network of spies infiltrating studio screenings. Fair game - until it's HIS elitist festival. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
-
Yeah, it stinks, but I'm sure it's not Knowles' call. The stuidos that lend him these films probably threaten to chop up that pretty little orange beard of his if he doesn't enforce the strictist of electronics policies. And as long as they keep lending films, BNAT will keep happening, which even though we were barred from this year, it might be in all our futures...that is if we ask nicely enough...right?
And Herc, why are you missing out on this extravaganza? -
CrackerFromHe11 is right...Harry's "elitist" festival wouldn't exist in its current form without cooperation from the big guy on studio demands. And you don't need a Blackberry to be a good spy...a good memory and willingness to be called PLANT! are all you need.
-
I just noticed a porn ad in the top banner of AICN. Talk about knowing your target audience!! Still, it's a shame. Like anyone on this site pays for porn anyway.
-
how bad that theater has to smell by the end of the 24 hours
-
I was worried it was just me seeing porn ads! Better than those self-righteous PETA "your mother murders bunnies" ads, if you ask me. Not a fan of PETA - starving people in the world, AIDS crisis, Darfur, terrorism - and they are spending money so we don't eat meat. Of course, most charities I send my $ to are pretty self-serving too, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite.
-
What other companies/industries should advertise at AICN to maximize target audience exposure? Krispy Kreme and Kleenex come to mind.
-
Guilty as charged. But still...someone...somewhere...could AT LEAST let us know what they're watching, it's no like the Alamo is a sensory depravation chamber...is it ? Maybe I just fed meatbiscuit & Barry Egan a line...go for it guys.
-
just got a text message from BNAT. They are watching Spidey 3 and members of the cast are there.
-
No way they're atching Spidey 3. No way. Nope. Sorry. Not buying it.
-
The next two movies have been a animated porn called once upon a girl and inherit the wind
-
I just got a pay phone call from a certain someone at the Drafthouse. They just started film 4... It's Stanley Kubrick's new remake of 12 Angry Men starring Dakota Fanning in Henry Fonda's old part, with Michael J Fox playing the new character of the wheelchair bound security guard!!! HOLY SHIT!!
-
Keep 'em coming. I'll be up all night hitting refresh.
That Spiderman reference is definitely leaving us curious. -
TOO SOON
-
What's a "sequal?" I've hear of the word "sequel."
-
OH SNAP
-
only works if you use proper English to diss them.
-
So far it's a dissapointing lineup. I guess Harry's saving the big guns for last. Dreamgirls? Come on. That's been screening all over the place lately. Hell, I saw it two weeks ago at a screening in Austin. Harry saw it at that same screening...so I guess he just loves it. Bleh.
-
I wish more theatres banned cell phones, pagers, glowing watches. Nothing more distracting to the other people watching a movie
-
they are so gonna rub it in...
-
...thanks Ravvy for keeping us poor saps updated (as much I diss the lineup, I'd still like to be in there).
-
thing is that we will hear all about it tomorrow at 1 p.m. All the geeks there will scramble to their hotels or laptops, and tell all. I am really wanting to know what kind of a haul they are scoring this year as far as the gift bags.
-
oh boy...talk about adding salt water to the wounds...
-
I saw what was in some of the giftbags this morning. I was in the stand by line, and some of the attendees showed us what they got. They aren't nearly as cool as last year's (last year they got Ataris). Everyone this year got a Transformer action figure. I also saw lots of graphic novels, Dreamgirls posters, etc. One guy got the I Know What You Did Last Summer DVD Trilogy...not even joking.
-
really? whaddya think the transformers mean? maybe there is gonna be a footage screening? but hey, thanks for the info, now it doesn't seem to hurt as much :)
-
While I doubt Harry actually scored the movie itself, he probably got a hold of the new trailer or some new footage. Like someone said above, there were people from Paramount outside the Drafthouse asking people if they liked Transformers, etc.
-
A helicopter just airlifted a BNAT update directly to my front porch--turns out now they're watching Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit"!!! And get this--since Pete and Howard Shore had a falling out, the music score is being performed live by the London Philharmonic under the direction of the REANIMATED CORPSE OF JERRY GOLDSMITH!!!
-
I'm guessing the 4 other "new" movies will be Rocky Balboa, I'm a Cyborg But That's OK, Zodiac, and 30O. Zodiac, Cyborg, and 300 would definitely make up for Dreamgirls.
-
Oh wait... I guess there's five more "new" ones right? Hmm...
-
r u guys sure about 300? don't they usually work on those digital films till the very last minute? my money is still on ghost rider
-
Oh god. I just saw the new trailer for Ghost Rider at Apocalypto tonight. That movie looks so awful it's not even funny. If that's in the line-up, there's no saving this BNAT.
-
still doesn't make much sense to me, i'm thinking about that eric bana drew barrymore movie, i know it doesn't make much sense, but as a last minute replacement, it might be possible
-
If it was just a superhero film, Harry could've recommended any other film. The fact that he recommended the 3rd one--which isn't out yet--indicates that there's something specific about Spidey 3--but not 1 or 2--that applies to the last film.
So 300 is probably not it. Superman 3 would work for thematic reasons (the unshaven Supes), but I doubt Harry would have that as the last film. Any other ideas? -
playing with the 3 theme, spidey 3 probably represents the as-of-yet unreleased pirates 3. c'mon!
-
They won't be showing Pirates 3 due to the fact that the film is still shooting up in Saugus, California.
Although a trailer could pop up there. -
my friend is webcamming BNAT right now, and they're watching the corpses of jack lemmon and walter matthau buttfuck each other!
-
I just got a telepathic signal from one of the aliens in attendance (it's Texas so there's plenty of them). Film 6 just started and its... being performed live!!!! OMFG! Tom Cruise is playing an 5 year old girl abused by his her grandfather, played by Sid Haig. Haig's character opens a super gym and forces Cruise to perform sex acts on any redheads entering the facility, in public! Suffice it to say, Harry is participating in the performance. It will be followed by a talkback between two chimps as they eat from containers of Barbra Streisand's feces!!! OMG!!!!
-
Thanks for the information. It could very well be a very raw cut of Transformers. There is one shot I keep hearing about and if it is true, I will be in geek bliss. The shot is, one of the autobots in car form either chasing or being chased by a decepticon, the car hits a ramp and in mid air transforms and continues the chase on foot. If this shot is not in the movie, it needs to be. Anyone know which movies bailed on BNAT?
-
I heard that Kevin Smith showed up at BNAT with not only a print of the Green Hornet but also Ranger Danger! That and Hasslehoff showed up in the K.I.T.T. car and screened the Knight Rider movie in addition to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson being there and showing Spy Hunter.
-
"A few hundred guys who are probably very annoying, smell bad and you know you're going to be sitting next to two fat assees" We probably all fall into at least one of those categories, hell we post on AICN talkback boards. But that's what would be so fun about it, I love going to midnight screenings of movies like LOTR etc., because you get the people who really love to be there and geek out about all the subtle jokes and cool shots or surprise appearances...It's just fun, ya know?
-
20th Century Fox presents...a film by Jesus.
-
crispin glover showed up to give everyone a piece of skin he peeled off after his last sunburn.
-
...a remake of "Behind the Green Door" starring Claire Bennett.
-
The sequence you are referencing is Optimus being chased on a freeway in vehicle form by a Decepticon and transforming during the chase. Yeah, it's in there.
-
a combination of chick flicks and a Heroes marathon?
-
...and the grab bag was a box of female condoms and a Region 2 DVD of "Cannonball Run 2?"
-
I will be super jealous. Nothing else would make me all that upset.
-
why not? does every bnat have to end with a feature; it could very well be a trailer at the end. i've never been to one, but hoping to go next year or the year after. either way, whoever posted it before is right- it's not just a superhero (or comicbook) film; it's gotta be something with the 3, most likely something mystereous or shrouded in secrecy... what other 3 (aside from spidey 3, which i haven't ruled out all the way yet) is pirates. an extended promo or trailer for either one at the end of zodiac (that's right- i'm buying #11 as zodiac) would end it on a high note
-
don't forget the Q&A with nancy meyers!
-
George lucas and spielberg are showing up with indy 4 and Michael J fox brought BTTF 4 with him too.....best.BNAT.ever!
-
#8 is a screening of serenity presenetd by the whedon himself, just cus herc ain't there. c'mon!
-
Maybe it's some movie with a theme or conflict between the duality of man...ya know something about someone fighting himself...I bet it's a documentary on Michael Jackson..."it doesn't matter if you're black or white"
-
i'm sure its as simple as Spidey 3 ==> comic book movie = Ghost Rider ==> comic book movie.
-
Your comment about Lemmon and Mathau is wrong and utterly hilarious.
-
My friend's cousin's brother's roommate just phoned via a Razr that he smuggled in lodged in his ass Walken-style: they're not doing a movie for #7, they've got a live variety act. There's this mom, dad, an adolescent girl, a toddler boy, and a puppy. They're all naked and shitting all over everything. I can't wait to find out the name of the act! (P.S. I Was A Teenage Werewolf is clearly the new teen werewolf movie, Blood & Chocolate.)
-
Like I said in my smartass post, Teenage Werewolf is Blood & Chocolate. (Featuring teenage werewolves.) Has to be. As for Spidey 3, you guys analyze this way too much. What's Spidey 3? A huge summer blockbuster you'd never expect to see at BNAT this time of year. One film fits that category that would have enough footage to at least show -some- of the film (although principal just wrapped, I think, and they have MONTHS of FX to do): Transformers. The toys and the pollsters are a dead giveaway, and Quint's access to the film (as well as AICN's status as complete assbitches to any request to remove Transformer movie pics that are still all over the web) seal the deal. The BNAT will end with a large segment of the film or at least a lengthy montage showing the goods, a few transformation sequences, just enough to do what Harry has been trumpeting for months now: give the fanboys enough to quell fears. Honestly, being the jaded fuck that I am, I imagine he had this locked down months ago to make his proclamations of what the studio should do seem all powerful and wise. Now, for the question: if Black Snake Moan was first, we need a report: just how damn naked does Christina finally get beyond those few seconds in Prozac Nation? Let's face it, we don't care about the movie in the slightest except for the image of a chained, nymphomaniacal Ricci getting shagged by Sam Jackson Berry/Thornton style.
-
For shame, Harry -- can't you find someone who didn't get into your festival who could post up the latest session with Sly? The most popular thing that's been on this site in years and you can't find an able back-up to get this online on time? Weak, mate, very weak.
-
Because today's Stallone Q&A was done live
-
does any film from 1 - 11 feature or revolve around an overweight, talent-free and clearly mentally retarded wanker who is visibly meant to have been born with down's syndrome, but somehow wasn't and yet still requires someone to mop his forehead every time he bravely attempts to eat an ice cream? if so , the lucky Butt-Numb-A-Thon atendees could be in for a royal Brain-Numb-A-Thon as Tenacious D is on the list.
-
can't believe i didn't think of this earlier, but it's probably a scene from that movie, rather than a full film.
-
They showed Rocky VIII, Sly fought an Owl with one wing.
-
You heard it here first!
-
because Harry wants to see it and couldn't care less what anyone else thinks, because he's always showing films new and old alike.
-
You would think there would be by now. Perhaps by 2 or 3. But definitely tonight.
-
I'm surprised no one's leaked the full lineup yet.
-
You guys know they show old movies at BNAT also, right?
-
Well Harry said he was showing 7 new movies this year, and plus, it's impossible to guess the vintage films.
-
I'm going to go with Tenacious D 2.
-
Premiere -Black Snake Moan (if awesome and excellent fucked and made a film baby), Dreamgirls, Rocky Balboa (Go get um' Rock!!), Knocked Up (AWESOME FUNNY), Black Book, Smoking Aces (fuck me that was violent!), 300 (wowzers!!).
Vintage - Once upon a Girl (fuck you Harry), Inherit The Wind (fucking amazing), The Informer, RAW FORCE, TEEN WO....(sorry Jeff) -
Thanks Kraken! Hmm...Knocked Up...didn't think of that one. Sounds like a very good lineup with the exception of Dreamgirls.
-
Any special guests? Did Sly present Rocky Balboa himself?
-
Especially since 5 films dropped out at the last minute. If I had to guess who dropped out, I’d probably say: Shoot 'Em Up, I'm A Cyborg But That's OK, Zodiac, Hot Fuzz, and Grindhouse
-
I'm really beginning to think that somehow Harry snagged Spidey 3, and it dropped out at the last minute, hence Harry's inclusion of it on the fake list (add to that his sarcastic "the 12th one will be a bitch")
-
Each of the last 3 years I've seen at least one of these "Premieres" already in Toronto - Black Book this year, Banlieue 13 last year, and Ong Bak and Kung Fu Hustle in '04. Toronto Film fest pwns BNAT. Kidding, getting 300 is way cool. I gotta get to Austin someday.
-
great selection of films. must've been a fun time.
-
Yeah, let's not enjoy seeing a great movie. A-hole.
-
God dammit. I missed Raw Force when it played at Terror Thursday and have been getting shit for it. I knew I should have tried to sneak in.
-
I saw Dreamgirls at a screening in Austin a couple weeks ago, and I wasn't a huge fan. It was okay, but nothing amazing. Just expressing an opinion dude. No need to get rude.
-
I'm sure you'll see all that in the write ups coming very soon from people. There were some really cool guests (mostly directors, but one really cool actor) and as far as the dropped 5 films... that was Harry trickery, ensuring that when he goes to hell, the devil will kick him out, out of fear of losing his job (and yes folks, he will go to Hell... I've now seen a movie called Once Upon a Girl, thanks to him)
-
So Harry was fooling us with the "dropped films" stuff. Hmm...
-
Damn. Apart from Dreamgirls, that's a ridiculous lineup... especially when you include Pan's Labyrinth and CoM. Even the vintage films, which I'm normally not as big on, were amazing this year. Makes me all the more irritated that I wasn't picked to go. Ho well. There's always next year.
-
Am I the only lame-o ain't it cool reader to be looking forward to seeing it? You guys just too cool, or what?
-
hello?
-
Black Snake Moan, Dreamgirls, Once Upon a Girl, Inherit the Wind, Rocky Balboa, Knocked Up, Zwartboek (Black Book), Raw Force, Smokin' Aces, & 300...
-
I assumed you were one of the hundreds on this site that has automatically dismissed Dreamgirls since it didn't fall into their preconceived and overly subjective notions of what movie is cool and what isn't. The TBers on this site are often hateful people who don't realize that a true film fan knows no genres or eras.
-
Testify!
-
i havent seen the first 3, rocky balboa or black force, but i've seen all the others.
-
It was nice.
