A New NINJA TURTLES Movie Trailer Is Online In Mega Cruddy Stamp-O-Vision!!
Merrick here...
MTV has posted a new trailer of the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES CGI film -- due next year. It's, like, really small and shit. A most unsatisfactory viewing experience.
This said, you can get a fair sense of the look/style/tone of the film from this material -- although I can't wait to see it larger & clearer.
HERE is the film's teaser trailer...in case you missed it the first time around, or want to refresh your memory. MTV: please note the multiple size options & Glorious QuickTime here.

I'm feeling pretty good...
-
Seriously, how can you release a trailer for anything these days and not have it in quicktime? Someone dropped the ball.

California's finest Star Trek Band. -
How long till people start complaining about the MTV website?
-
I guess I just don't get it. I thought the live action ones were B grade at best and maybe enjoyable, but c'mon lets not beat the dead horse. OH, and why are there all kinds of cool news happnin' now? and Where is ROUND 7 with Mr. Stallone? C'mon man I'm dyin here.
-
but who knows how much of that to attribute to the gaping difference in video qualities.
-
I'm sorry, MTV's site sucks ass..
-
Put the damn thing on quicktime!
-
Straight To DVD. I hate to pass judgement without seeing the movie but...
-
This looks excellent, haters be damned. Good, cheesy fun with some cool action scenes, just like the Turtles should be.
-
But I loooooooooooooooooove TMNT!
-
This one trailer has completely killed any anticipation I once had for this film. So much for reliving my childhood. The monsters, or whatever the bad guys are supposed to be, look lame.
-
Michaelangello is a party dude!
-
i'm in canada and they won't let me watch it. jerks.
-
Man, did that suck.

Looks like it coulda been done by the Henson puppets...
by gibsonusa returns
From the trailer the movie looks like it could have been done in live action with the Jim Henson puppets like the first three movies. (With some CG for the little creatures duh) Why didn't they do that???? (shakes fist) And did they get Cory Feldman back or not?
-
Seriously, how can people accept a screen size smaller than 27"? How can you read subtitles, make out tiny details and subtleties? Technology is supposed to expand, not diminish.
-
welcome the new addition to the tmnt canon. although i had to squint to see it (thanks mtv), i'm really in love with the visual style used. and the voice work (for the turtles) couldn't be better, in my opinion...just listening to them go back and forth with one another took me back to my childhood for a brief moment. turtle. power.
-
it's like the first movie, minus all the good parts.
-
And TMNT is an extremely viable franchise. Everyone loves TMNT. If only they made this one live action and called it TMNT4. I wanna see human eyes when the turtles open their mouths!
-
I agree - for those of us who are taken back to our childhood, this looks like fun. I used to draw ninja turtle comics in colored pencil, and I still remember that ill-fated day when I lost Donatello in the river. This looks like the movies with the added bonus of less-cumbersome man-suits. Killer.
-
...LITERALLY. An even fifty. He said he wanted it to look like an army like the cartoon so his parents bought him a truckload of Foot Soldiers to fight his 4 turtles.
-
Click the square little boxy in the corner. Its like magic and makes the video larger. Crap there goes my Prestige now that the whole world has learned the little boxy click trick. Sigh.
-
I was also more excited by the teaser. I might rent this, not paying 9 bucks to see it in the theatre.
-
....isn't this "new" trailer the exact same thing as the teaser that's been around since July? I'm looking at the teaser and looking at the MTV posted trailer and I see no difference.
-
Dope that I am, I just clicked the stupid TMNT thumbnail instead of just relying on the link. =)
-
Because fucking mtv says i cant play it because there's some kind of copyright restriction and its only playable for people in the u.s. for some lame ass mother fucking reason. boooooooo mtv. QUICKTIME IS GLORIOUS!
-
Vanilla Ice all the way...
-
I thought they were going to go back to the original way the turtles were supposed to be....se la vie. Looks like nothing more than a kids movie. Bullshittery
-

Your welcome :) -
...or at least buy one of the costumes they used in the movie (the first one).
-
looks like shit though. After the teaser I was expecting something a little more hardcore and a lot less campy than the live action versions, but it seems like this is going to be a million times campier. Im so depressed. Just when I thought an excellent tmnt movie was on the horizon they shove this crap in our faces. It looks completely goofball... no seriousness in tone at all. I know they're freakin ninja turtles but cant we atleast get a vision of the ninja turtles as more than comical doofuses. Plus they all sound very homosexual. And I mean that literally... their voices sound awfully feminen.
-
I won't even bother until it's in Quicktime.
-
We all realize that the ninja turtles are for kids but for fuck sakes everyone and anyone that was a fan of the ninja turtles is all grown up now and we deserve fucking better. We deserve a hardcore ninja turtles movie. It's not for fucking kids anymore. KIDS DONT WANT NINJA TURTLES... they play yu-gi-oh and pokemon and shit like that. You tell a kid today to name the ninja turtles and he'll tell you to fuck off. So this is a complete slap in the face to the ninja turtle fans that are all grown up now.
-
is easily adjusted in the botom right corner of the box. not to tough to do. really right where the stamp is right corner....click it. though quality still sucks ....especially on a 30 inch monitor... but not a bad trailer. no feldmiester, but Leo sounded a lot like Simba. I mean Ferris Bueller. I mean Matthew Broderick. and i still deman to hear the late Great Mako voicing Master Splinter!

There's no way the mainstream would tolerate dark TMNT.
by gibsonusa returns
TMNT in terms of TV/movies has ALWAYS been for kids and will always be for kids. The fact that the cartoon launched in 1987 does not change that fact. Believe it or not the franchise, and its new toys, has a whole population of new young viewers. Gotta cater to them too. You can say original TMNT fans are grown up and would want a darker, more adult look/story....but COME ON!! What average 25 year old guy (everyday, NON-geek) is gonna walk up to the theater opening day and pay $10 for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated movie?? YEAH RIGHT!! Very few. If you make this TMNT adult oriented, then it becomes a niche product.
-
turtle power!
-
look at the iron giant, the Harry Potter movies (films based on kids books with serious tones and themes) yet to be released golden compass (a kids movie which im sure will be very serious in tone for adults to enjoy too), Who framed roger rabbit, final fantasy movie, transformers (A SERIOUS MOVIE BEING MADE RIGHT NOW BASED ON A KIDS CARTOON), TITAN AE, etc
-
However, I will most assuredly pay to see it on the big screen. Just as I did with all the Turtles movies before it.
-
that i am really looking foward to this
-
but i think it'll be fun
-
and the (small number of) fans by re-imagining the characters into some sort of abomination that you can't recognize. For that fact alone, I hope it does better than Transformers.
-
I thought we were past that... I weep for the future.
-

Sorry to crap on your childhoood, but you're wrong. Dead wrong. TMNT was originally a comic/graphic novel. The Turtles swore, drank beer and killed people. You read that right. They actually KILLED people. Not exactly kiddie fare.
But a lucrative cartoon deal made it necessary to tone them down and aim for the kid market. Search your local comic book shops or eBay to find an early comic. The original Turtles were badasses, not the pussified cartoonish buffoons you remember.
-
As violent and grim as the old B&W TMNT comics were, they were still a thinly veiled parody of Daredevil (Hand/Foot Clan, Stick/Splinter, exact same origin as DD) and had plenty of cheezy one liners, and yeah, Michalangelo was always the buffoon of the group. As cool as an R rated TMNT animated movie could be, the cheezy cartoon from the early nineties had a much larger fan/customer base and was the main impetus behind the movies getting made in the first place. The TMNT cartoon from the last couple of years on FOX seems to be a decent synthesis of the darker comic and campy old cartoon, largely drawing its story arcs directly from the old comic. This movie seems to be in the same vein, and thankfully, they don't expect us to shell (huh-huh) out ten bucks to watch the same fucking origin/shredder falling into a dumpster story we've seen before. Let's all ive it a chance, shall we?
-
I'm offically NOT looking forward to this as of now.
-
I'm STOKED for this movie now. But they really should have put Shredder in this movie. It's been more than a decade since we've had TMNT in our lives, and they want to give us a movie without him? Not cool.
-
tx lads, can't have an animated movie trailer without a burp joke, sigh... other then that, looks still interesting.

sent to earth over that tincan opener 'Shredder' any day of the week :)
-
is that, if you were a fan of the cartoon from the early '90s as a kid (as i was), then what they are doing with this new movie should be fine. you weren't originally drawn in by the beer drinking, cursing and killing that's evident in the graphic novel--you were drawn by the blend of action and saturday morning campiness. and besides, since when did having an upbeat tone become a bad thing? seems to work well for pixar.
-
make up for it with a mom joke at the end!
-
The original movie still beats this in terms of darkness and style. This just looks like a shitty pixar made ninja turtles movie with some horrible looking crappy cartoon characters. It doesnt even match the tone of the orignal content. The teaser made me thought this was going to be something way better, but what a ruse that was.
-
are u talking about this is the teaser again only small.
-
..found it through one of the talkback links this went from looking awesome to officially 13 and under. Bubye.
-
and it stinks as bad as that trailer
-
you are a vagina
-
There was a crappy rap song with such words in the original, wasn't there? Oh, who gives a damn about that, or about the corpse of this "franchise"!
-
but only because they've used a single spot to light every scene. If they lit this up it would be exactly the same old kids crud.
-
And he specifically said "in terms of MOVIES/TV". Meaning that 90% of people who are aware of the character are NOT aware of it's more violent origins. And his wording showed that he obviously knew this. We're all REALLY impressed by your knowlege of the Turtle's history (I'd say most people on this site are in the 10% that are fully aware of their roots). No we aren't. You've impressed no one and now look like a boob for not reading what his post actually said.
-
with this trailer....okay so it is a little more cartoonish than the teaser implied, but then again, maybe thats because this trailer is aimed at a broader young audience. We still dont know the quota between kid humour and action. Some bits looked cool, the sewers, leo on the plane...donatello talking about something or other on a crane. The voices were good too. I'm sure there will be decent action scenes "and a sense of peril" as director kevin munroe stated. It is a PG-13 for a reason after all.Not so sure about the level of expression in the characters, but the backgrounds were more epic than I was expecting. Its a bit final fantasy-esque in places which is a bit crap...but overall I think its got a kind of pixar feel to it...aimed at the kids but with enough for older fans. who knows? this trailer hasnt put me off, or got me mega excited, but is definately got me curious....
-
I think a straight to dvd manga animation of the original comics would be a great idea. why havent they done that?
-
...I thought the trailer was awesome. It didn't seem like it had too much of a darker tone, but it looked like there is gonna be a lot of good action, and the jokes were better than those in the originals (not great, but better). I mean, c'mon. Even when I was 10, those jokes made me squirm because they were so bad. I am really looking foward to this; much more-so than Transformers.
-
hey all the douche bags at mtv usa have put a block on the viewability of the trailer from outside the usa bunch of pussys any chance a talkbacker can post a youtube version of this and put up a link !!!
-
A bit darker than it looks. If you ignore that cheesy-ass voice-over guy, it kind of changes the tone. Still not THAT dark, but maybe darker than it seems at first. Also, the fact that they're using monsters instead of foot soldiers tells me that we may see a whole bunch of hacking up of monsters. I mean, kids love it when monsters are dispatched, and their "fragile psyches" won't be damaged by seeing people killed. It's OK to kill monsters. See what I mean?
-
Hollywood is dragging out the stinky dusty old corpses of the Simpsons and TMNT of the closet this year. It must be a true sign that they are just about out of any new ideas.
-
anyone else hear that before?
-
..after about 5 seconds
-
But it's slutty little tramp sister M2 Swallows so it balances out in the end.
-
those f'ers make a lot of noise for ninjas, I call shenanigans...
-
...Go fuck yourselves.
-
Do I think the plot looks cheesy? Do I dislike the use of the colored bandanas? Is it craptastic that Splinter is going to have "people-feet"?
A yup.
Will I let any of that stop me from going to see it on the big screen?
HELL'S NO!
From what I've seen thus far this movie has done a pretty damn good job of keeping the characters true to their nature. In the end, that's really all I ask for when it comes to adaptations.
If I want to see the comic books, I'll go read the comic books.
Plus, folks need to bear in mind that this trailer was made to show before KIDS movies. SO yeah they're going to pull out the "belching" and the "Your Mom" joke. -
this looks like computerized meh. And it looks like that SUV commercial with the diamond thieves.
-
FLAME ON!!!
-
TMNT, Die Hard, Rocky (almost 2007), Rambo...Transformers!!
The 80s are back with a vengeance. I can die happy if heaven blessed us with another Ghost Busters...but oh well... -
and leonardo actually stabs someone or something full throttle in the neck or stomach with a sword. I want to see mother fucking blood. I want to see badass scary ninja turtles who cuss and kill. They have fucking weapons for a reason. The first ninja turtles movie with costumes will always be the best until they get this right. PEOPLE WANT BLOOD!! EVEN KIDS WHO LIKE TMNT... they want mother fucking blood. I started watching gruesome horror movies when I was around 10, at the same age i was into ninja turtles and went to see the first movie in theatres and realized what the only thing it needed to be a great movie....WAS SOME FUCKING BLOOD! I WANT MOTHER FUCKING BLOOD.. and i better see some badass ninja turtles deliver on that promise.
-
that was what gave it away as a shit infested child directed film. OHHHHHH LEONARDO HOLD ME!!! ninja turtles aren't pussies.
-
"If anything I rather see the Transformers movie than this shite. You guys can feel free to relive your childhood if you wish." Umm... I was going to make a smart ass comment, but... the stupidity of what you typed has defeated me. You win, asshole. You win.
-
You want something badass, go watch some Batman. You want something to transition your kids from cute to badass, show them the Turtles. This is a childhood flashback, and that's all it should be. And don't tell me the original turtles weren't cheesy, because they WERE. I grew up on this crazy stuff, and you can bet your ass mine will be in theatres when this opens. That said, I haven't seen the new trailer, as I'm at work right now.
-
You have serious problems. Yes, the original TMNT was dark, but jeez.
-
better youtube version, no show.. full trailer/only the trailer... no show at all:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Oc7h5IfcqU0
-
Have you seen my childhood?
-
Yes, Frijole, your are correct that he was referring to the films and tv shows. I was pointing out to those whose only reference is the film and tv versions that the comic book origins were anything but child friendly. There are younger readers here that are not always aware of a tv or films literary origins. I'm still suprised at the number of "Starship Troopers" movie fans that have now idea who Robert Heinlein is.
-
Eastman and Laird were/are great artists who created a fantastic set of characters with an original premise. They then merchandized the living shit out of it. Good for them, big kudos. I would have done the exact same thing. I understand they spend most of thier time swimming in thier money a la Scrooge McDuck. Oh, Eastman takes occassional breaks to make sweet love to Julie Strain. Sucks to be him. And anyonw who thinks we will see/wants to see blood, come on. You will see more blood if you rent and watch G.I.Joe the movie.
-
It looks freaking cool!
-
and they rarely killed *in-panel* in the original books. your memories are playing tricks on you- seriously go back. read em' the original "hardcore" graphic novels arent as edgy as you remember them being. it's like thinking "wow gremlins was a cool movie" and then you go back and think "what the fuck is this turd?! it's like just over an hour long..."
that said, the original graphic novels (which btw are still being published and new stories written) have some great character moments...the stories are really well written *or were I dont follow them* -
The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” TV shows and movies have all ranged from terrible to vomit-inducing. When I actually read the original Mirage comic books, I was surprised to find that they were actually good. They weren’t “Watchmen,” but they were enjoyable and I was hoping that this movie would finally correct the mistakes of previous screen adaptations. Instead, this trailer has made me lose almost all hope for this movie. It kind of looks like a montage of everything wrong with modern Hollywood movies, but then again, a lot of trailers look like that. I was ready to gut myself during the gratuitous belching joke (that might’ve almost been funny if I were six years old and retarded) or the part where one of them said, “Duuuude!” The animation looks pretty pathetic too, like something from Nickelodeon. And why do the fucking turtles always have to speak like that? Mickey Mouse sounds more like an actual teenager than these characters. Would it have killed the filmmakers to pay voice actors to sound like people? Then again, I realize that a lot of trailers are cut this way. The people who make them seem to want to pander to the very lowest of lowest common denominators. I’ve often seen good movies with terrible trailers and TV spots, so I hope that’s the case here. That said, my interest has now dropped a great deal, but I guess the filmmakers couldn’t care less. This kind of marketing must work, or I wouldn’t be continually seeing it over and over and over.
-
the ninja turtles i love. not some new manga wack crap
-
Nothing to feed my lust for more comic book filmage. TMNT worked as a comic - I worry when they go 3-D.
-
was so violent and bloody
-
..They also have the trailer on MTV.ca just click the movie link and it's he first one on the list. I'm really looking forward to this one.
-
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_pe...ed.cgi?tmnt1se
There's the petition. Sign it! The 1990 original was a great comic film. There's also several excellent deleted scenes that have never seen the light of day. TMNT 2007 is a sequal to TMNT 1990 so the time is now! -
Crappy kiddie TMNT CGI and crappy homemade film all in one TB. Blech...
-
when i was 7 or 8. this looks as stupid and lame as the original cartoon and that godawful 3rd movie with the gay puppet turtles going back in time.
-
word.
-
I saw glimpses of what could've been a really cool trailer in there. Some clunky parts, but I still have high hopes for the movie...and the last joke is pretty great, vintage Turtles. I forget...I know Shredder's not the main villain, but is he in it? Oh well, I suppose all will be answered soon...let's get a high-def redone trailer on Apple, how 'bout it? "T-U-R-T-L-E Power, T-U-R-T-L-E Power..."
-
Raphael was the best one....
-
and yes, the Turtles DO swear... Also, there is blood and violence everywhere. Leo runs The Shedder thru with a katana, and you see the blade sticking out of his back... THAT is what a TMNT movie should have.
-
Damnit, I can maybe put up with the humor, but after something the greatness of FF7: Advent Children, my expectations for CG comic book/cartoon movies is way WAY up, and I don't expect the same physics defying craziness, but something... like that cool teaser trailer we saw earlier... something edgy, and with some inventive battles and a few touches of typical TMNT humor without theexaggerated cartoon faces and shit... heck for the youtube vid, the animation doesn't look good either... This movie is now a 'looking forward to rental...'
-
So is this new movie called "TMHT"??
-
like the Incredibles. That was a good kids movie that adults can enjoy
-
He is involved somehow!
-
no corey feldman!=this movie sux
-
that the whole thing was animated, not just the Turtles. Really it looks like a videogame. Guess it comes down to how good the writing is, then. I'm not blown away by the animation.
-
All of the haters are evil, cynical people. >:)
-
butt, damn SH- maybe, but I dont ever remember the turtles swearing themselves in the originals. I cant imagine raph sticking someone with a sai and saying "yeah bitch. mess with the fucking green and it gets mean!" or mike saying "im going to crack your heads open you fucking cunts."
-
why do the turtles wear their masks when they are in their sewer lair? Who exactly are they hiding from at that point?
-
But will the story work?
-
be fun. I have to wait and see it in quicktime like everyone else. I hope Vanilla Ice comes back to throw some free style and break'n moves, that would be PHOCK'N SWEAT!
-
You're all talking about violence and swearing. Guess what, all that money the creators have, it wasn't built on the original comics. How fucking stupid would it be for kids not to be allowed to see this movie when there's a Saturday morning TV show already built on this material? And how much money do you think an R rated movie about TALKING NINJA TURTLES would make? Some of you need to stop trying to come up with a reason why you can see this without looking like a big geek.
-
It's like, we KNOW they're HUMAN-SIZED TURTLES, so it's not like they can whip off their masks and blend in with a crowd. The elbow and knee pads I understand, but the masks are nonsensical.
-
As others have pointed out, why do the TMNT wear mask? So nonsensical. I mean, I can buy the idea of giant talking turtles runnning around utilising martial arts, but wearing masks? Please ...
-
1) So no one knows they're turtles.
2) Because they don't have eyebrows. -
Style points.
-
Wow, a talkbacker who speaks sense? That's somehting I never thought I'd see.
-
Children have ruined my comics.
-
do all you guys on here who are complaining about the comic tone of the film even remember what fun is? when u were younger i'm sure you disliked robotic foot soldiers and laser and the fact the the turtles never cut anyone as much as i did but you loved that shit anyways! jesus lighten up! all i hear on this site from the talkbackers is "why cant it be darker!" well you got a darker superman and guess what happened? YOU HATED IT! MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MINDS! this trailer reminds me of watchn the cartoons at 8 am every saturday morning surounded by my army of TMNT toys and you know what? thats fine because those are fond memories. i love the B&W comics...shit i even have every issue of the ill-fated Image relaunch series (whiched owned btw) but all the blood and guts from the comics and my love for hardcore perverse violence wont stop me from being in the theatre opening day, reflecting on happy memories. ill have my kids with me there (who all love TMNT too) and i garantee you theyll have a blast, and maybe get some good memories too.
-
who else used to use Crayola Washable Red Markers to but blood on their action figures when they were kids? i cant be the only one :P
-
turtle ninjas wear masks
-
usually these trailers have unfinished audio, including voices, so don't pass judgment too soon! Keep the faith!
...and isn't it obvious by the last 20 years of kids films that there are all made by executive's decisions, specifically to gain the largest audience po$$ible? If you haven't noticed the studios desire to alienate the fans, re-write intelligent dialogue for tripe, and over explainin every plot point, then well, you need to wake up and smell the napalm.
