    by thenewpulper

Honestly. Great trailer. Well shot. Acting looks fabulous. Can't wait for the film. But fuck if I know why every new trailer has music that does not fit the tone of everything else... at all. Departed, anyone? But I'm convinced this will be a classic. I mean it, all time kinda thing. Fincher's too good to make this suck.

    Lame music.

Jake Gyllenhwhatever and Chloe Soveryugly would produce childern with faces indistinguishable from apes. Ugly apes.

David Fincher should not be allowed to pick his projects himself anymore.

When a drunken, drugged out loser/has-been like Robert Downey Jr is doing well the world stops making sense.

    by uncapie

Read it last year and it was intense! A solid detective story all the way around. Best Screenplay material. Hope they kept the "baby" sequence and glad they kept the theater sequence intact. These are well and truly two of the creepiest moments in the film. Gylennhall is perfect as the cartoonist who takes this case on as a personal interest. Downey's good actor and I hope he's off the horse for good. Music for the trailer really ruins the feel for the true horror this movie is based on. Get rid of it! Use a Rod Stewart tune for a thriller. What brainiac thought that one up?

Fincher hasn't impressed me since he made every young, white male think their pissy angst was worth hearing about with "Fight Club". "Panic Room" just illustrated how fucking unbearable Jodie Foster has become. I will see this, but I have no hope for it at all. Finsher, in my opinion, has never made a bad film. worst one was Panic Room, and that was a great exercise in the confined space thriller genre. this preview looks GREAT, my only qualm is that Jake Gyllenhaal, while being obviously talented, is still too young for roles like this. he looks 18 to me, I'm sorry. unless you do something to make him look 30, it's gonna be a distraction. that said, it looks like nothing could stop this from being a pretty kick ass mystery thriller.

How is Chloe Sevigny still getting roles?

    by f-1000

I have yet to see her play any part where she isn't an introverted wallflower or set dressing. Small small parts and in the ones where she has a medium part I don't see the acting chops everyone on her balls in indie Hollywood says she has.

With that said, when I saw her in glasses in the first part of the trailer I thought it was Robert Downey JR in drag and had to rewind just to make sure. So that tells you about how "attractive" she is.

Not attractive, not talented, won't be remembered for anything but giving an on screen x rated BJ in a crappy Gallo film, (I bet didn't even give a good BJ.) Please can we stop putting her in films. Kk, thx.

It's an early Rod Stewart cover of "I'm Losin You" by the Temptations, and it's a pretty damned good song. Forgotten classic, actually. And I didn't think it was all that jarring. Nice to see some Fincher footage not totally shot with a shit-filter and scored with industrial scrapings.

'I Know I'm Losing You' is a great tune (from Every Picture Tells A Story.) Even though it wasn't technically a Faces tune, the Faces played it live many times. And it didn't take me out of enjoying the trailer 'cos The Faces are the greatest rock n roll band of ALL time. It's a nice surprise. Would've been nicer to hear Ronnie Lane, mind you. Cameras Used to Shoot Zodiac

    by riviera

Fincher used the Grass Valley Viper Cam to shoot Zodiac, which, for those of you who don't know is a Hi Def digital camera recording to hard drives. All the post work was done using Final Cut, Motion and Shake on Apple Macs. Yes, I'm a geek. As for the trailer, it got me intrigued but there was something about it that didn't sit right with me - might have been the music, might have been the overly comic moments here and there. Dunno...

Oh I see you are in this talkback throwing your ignorant rants as wisdom again. You feel that Fincher is done as a filmmaker? Wow, here's a large glass of shut the fuck up and it's time for the grown ups to talk. He has only made two great films? Hmmm, interesting. What about The Game? What about redefining the tired and worn serial killer genre with Seven? He HAS a distinct visual style unlike other directors currently churning out visually stunted popcorn tinged shit hiding under the thrown about moniker of cinema. I am curious to see what directors you idolize, Thunderballs? What was the last great movie you saw Thunberballs...and Torque doesn't count. The one thing I'll give you with this talkback is that you didn't try and come up with some half assed racist b.s. regarding the skin color of the victims of the Zodiac killer. For that, I thank you. It's nice to know that your ignorance needs a vacation every once and a while.

I think this one is gonna let you guys down *SPOILERS*

    by industrykiller!

And unlike some of the people on this talkback I'm a big fan of Fincher. I wrote a negative review of this a bit back and caught alot of shit for it but I stand by every word. It's simply a meandering film. I can't defend my POV any more without getting into spoiler territory, although I will tell you it lacks the classic Fincher atmosphere throughout 90%% of the film, so stop reading right here if you want to stay int eh dark *SPOILERS* You know all those scenes in the trailer that look suspenseful? Well I'll tell you what happens at the end of every single one of them. Absolutely nothing. Every scene that makes it looks like the cops are about to nab the guy or that the Zodiac killer may be closer than they think ends with nothing happening. That scene with Charles Fleischer and Gyllehaal and the footsteps upstairs? Nothing happens. You think something will and then Gyllenhaal simply exists the house without incident and shortly afterwards the entire lead that led him to that place is dropped. I don't feel bad giving that away since it's such a manipulative scene with completely undeserved suspense. You think the film looks dark and eerie? Not really, it's actually quite bright, no darker than your average Law and order Episode. Halfway through the movie the Zodiac killer disappears and ceases to be a presence in the film. That guy that calls Gyllehaal on the phone and breathes? You don't even know if thats the Zodiac killer, you never find out, and nothing ever comes of it. I guess I was so upset because so many scenes begin and it looks like something might actually occur but before the scene even gets to a climax it just sort of fizzles out. It seemed to run on fumes for 3 hours. I'll say the good in the film is the first two killings because they are so not your typically overdramatized Hollywood murders but instead very cold and matter of fact and also Brian Coxs very small part which is actually the comic relief although it doesnt look like it in the trailer.

    The Faces

    by wondermutt

Maybe he is using the song by The Faces because the film takes place in the 70's? Did you ever think of that, brainiacs? Not every moment has to sound like a rehash of the Halloween Soundtrack.

    "Who will play me?"

    by kafka07

"I'm waiting for a good movie..." Indeed, so am I. I hope the killer doesn't end up being Kevin Spacey.

If I was the zodiac killer

    by smackfu

I'd come out of retirement for the guy that cut that trailer. It sets a landmark in being the first trailer to have a muzak score. But I'm not the zodiac. And even if I was, I wouldn't tell YOU...

    Looks excellent

I can't wait to see this... in fact, I haven't looked forward to a movie as much in quite some time. Those who are criticizing the music in the trailer, I think, are missing the point... Fincher obviously wants to approach the familiar psycho-killer subject matter in more of a dramatic, historical, character-oriented manner... I suspect that this will be less about thrills and chills than about an in-depth exploration of these killings and what they signified about a time and place. The music, I think, captures that attempt to depict a specific time period (as i believe someone else said)... I think this will be Fincher's JFK. Can't wait.
