The Last ROCKY Trailer Ever?? A New ROCKY BALBOA Trailer Is Now Online!!
Merrick again...
Yahoo Movies just posted the final trailer for ROCKY BALBOA in glorious QuickTime. Which, presumably, makes this the last ROCKY trailer ever. Feels very strange to say that; bittersweet.
This is pretty much the same material we saw in the last trailer, with new stuff shoehorned throughout. "Eye of the Tiger" riffs can be heard in the closing moments here, kitschy but still kind of cool.
This trailer feels more scattershot & unfocused than its predecessor, which I'm not sure will serve the film well in the eyes of skeptical masses. Nonetheless, I'm really looking forward to seeing this when it opens 'round Christmas.
SEE IT!!!
Now...on to RAMBO!

Jeez, it does sound kinda sad when you put it that way
by The Guy Who Nods
But of course, just about anything will if you say it like that. Such as: "To think, this will be my last post concerning a Rocky trailer ever." (cue sad music)
-
This film will shut up Sly bashers! Here comes old-school Stallone with ROCKY BALBOA and next RAMBO IV: IN THE SERPENTS EYE. Now if only Arnie and Cameron could make BATTLE ANGEL ALITA right now...read here for that news: http://www.thearnoldfans.com/news/1070.htm
-
Famous last words: The computer said it was a good idea! Rap version of Eye of the Tiger! Priceless!
-
This looks so good. I've seen every rocky ten times over and cant wait for this shit. Could this be the best rocky ever? The video game simulation crap bothers me a little but it seems like just a 10 second thing. It bothers me a bit they're basically redoing the last rocky but whatever this could be 10 times better.
-
this looks like it could be pretty f ucking good. 'Get up you son of a bitch 'cause Mickey loves you'
-
I've heard that six times too many!
-
This skeptic has changed his tune. I would pay to see that movie. Didn't think I'd be saying that.
-
I'm not a huge Stallone fan, but I must say this trailer actually makes me want to see this film. I haven't really liked what I have seen up until now. It might just be the nostalgic side of me that wants this to be good and forget about the last Rocky movie.
-
It is ridiculous.

What he SAID was Lets start building some hurtin' bombs
by SydBarretsMyDad
...what I HEARD was...."Lets start bulding some Motherfuckin' God Damn Knock Your Ass Into Next Fucking Wednesday Hurtin' Bombs!!!!!" ....I guess im looking forward to this movie more than I though...heh, who knew?
-
Nice one! Many of us have become too cynical these days (me included), too quick to mock. Maybe we need a character like Rocky, an innocent, a good man we can root for, bollocks to cynicism, fuck being cool, Rocky's an old school hero and I welcome his return.
-
Fuck you and fuck your negativity.
-
I've read this script, i didn't like it, I don't care...I can't wait for this and I hope it rocks! People think I ridiculous for getting excited about this flick but I try and explain, ROCKY BALBOA represents hope. When we were kids we loved the Rocky films, even if they got cheesy after 1 but we all agreed that Rocky 5 was terrible (Rocky streetfighting out of the ring WTF?) and you never want something tht was so tied to your youth to go out on such a bad note. For 15 years we thought Rocky would always have gone out on a really crappy note but now that might not be the case. go Rock!
-
People will be psyched for this. I'm predicting a #1 finish and $20-25M box office. America needs something to cheer about and I think this will make us feel very nostalgic.
-
... This looks surprisingly... Watchable. Like, it has my money now watchable. Good turn for could have been very lame.
-
I really can't wait - this film looks like so much fun and I love the character of Rocky Balboa. Opening weekend Baby!
-
Wow, my ass is there! KICK HIS ASS ROCKY!!! KICK.. HIS.. ASS!!!
-
hell yeah!...ok, i lied...there's more...i'm sure we all know how this one turns out...but, i really don't care...looks like a fun popcorn flick...predictable story and score i'm sure...but, none of that bothers me on this one...normally i'm annoyed by those kind of "films" but i'm ready for a non-cgi, non-political, non oscar contending performances, no agenda, no which star is dating that other star, no hit song selling movie...i welcome this regular 'ol predictable boxing movie
-
I have to say, I really like the way that this is shot. Movies don't even look like movies anymore. It seems like Stallone managed to get that 70's look. People think it's the film stocks, and, to a certain extent it is, but it really is the fact that everything is overlit or underlit and directors don't know how to frame shots anymore. Things aren't allowed to move within a nice frame. I also hate that saturated black look that permeates a lot of films today as well. Anyway, I can't wait to see this. It just looks positive, character driven, and beautifully shot. Sure there are cheesy bits, but it's the kind of cheese I can get behind. The kind you want ladled onto your Phily cheese steak. Now THAT was cheesy. Go Rock!
-
Is this AICN? I'm I reading this talkback right? No bashing yet? This has got to be a first. Anyway, this movie looks like it will rock (no pun intended)!!! Can't wait for it.
-
of him nodding yes....holy shit this film looks fucking awesome
-
I'll be there opening day!!!
-
<nt>
-
..from The Mitchell Bros. (or was it Caballero Pictures?) that Sly is remaking "Party at Kitty and Studs"..anybody else know anything about this?
-
tis a great day for aicn AND rocky fans! movie looks alot better after seeing this trailer. ill be there baby!
-
The other night on SPIKE TV - they did a Balboathon of the 4 existing ROCKY movies. I joined it in progress at about the 30 minute mark of ROCKY II - now somehow - the reception on SPIKE looks like old terrible through the air reception... with rolling bars and shit in the screen... intermittant blackouts and I watched cuz the fucker captured me.<BR><BR>Before ROCKY III could start I had gotten my DVDs out so I could watch without commercial breaks and I fucking love the 4 ROCKY movies and this 5th one looks to kick ass. CAN'T WAIT!
-
Weird seeing Peter all negative. After all that griping to Nathan, he's not going to believe in his ol' man?
-
I caught some of that too ... which is probably why I keep saying "If I can change..."<p> The Russians are cheering for Balboa!
-
You didn't root for the black guy?!? No wonder the Russian won *sob*
-
I wonder if that is what Stallone thought about when he started to write the newest installment of the Rocky series? How can I keep the black man down? How many times can I take down yet another black opponent? For crying out loud, it is a movie and only a movie, Thunderballs. I didn't realize the Rocky franchise was a social commentary on racism. You know what I find amusing about your comment, the fact that you complain about having to root, YET AGAIN, for Rocky to kick the shit out of the latest black guy. So you admit that you rooted for that the first few films when he "kicked" the shit out of the black guys back then? Complaining in a forum advertising the trailer, ignorant just like your racist accusations against Stallone and Hollywood's portrayal of black people in cinema. Get a clue.
-
While I can see where you're coming from with there being 3 black antagonists vs. 2 white ones (I'd only count Creed as one villain), I don't really think that Rocky's exactly racist. I think one of the best things about the 1st 2 movies was that IMO Apollo was never really portrayed as a "bad" person. Sure he essentially did the whole fight as a PR deal and not out of pure charity, but he did give Rocky his shot, and a fair one at that. I always finish that movie rooting that Rocky wins the championship, the respect, as opposed to you just wanting to see him beat the shit out of the latest devil boxer incarnate. Lang was certainly in that evil boxer category, I'll certainly give you that, but Drago, despite his ham fisted "victim of the soviet boxing machine" allegories, was just as evil, and white. As for Gunn, well the less said about him the better, but nonetheless you wanted Rocky to beat his ass. As for this latest dude, I'll have to wait and see. The trailers make him out to be an asshole, but it could just be the whole boxing showmanship deal. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this story isn't about black vs. white, it's about Rocky, the underdog. Sure he's white, but you can't really blame Stallone for that. Also, note the positive race relations as seen in Rocky 3's beachside lovey-dovying between Apollo and Rocky. ; )
-
Forgot all about that, good point
-
What a loser.
-
Why does your breath smell like a$$hole?
-
There were 5 Rocky's Harry, you didnt know this? 5th one sucked pretty bad, was supposed to be called the "Final Bell".... but.... as you can see it wasnt the final bell. Fernwick
-
I hate to say this, but that looks pretty darn good. Ill pay for one last hurrah for someone who entertained me like hell thru the 80's. :) Go ROCK!
-
..will be animated by Ray Harryhausen
-
I don't know if I want to see it right now, but at some point in the future I will definately watch this movie.
-
It's comprehensive. Harry is just a member of the cult.
-
It's really on. Now, finally a real Rocky V (I feel you Harry). I'm there opening day. I think it's actually going to be really good!
-
I saw a screening of this and did a review a ways back...and since then I've rewatched the 5 originals...and I have to say that this one is my second favorite (after the first one, of course). Rocky Balboa is really good and the trailer has me pumped to see it again, opening day. I can't wait to read Harry''s review on this one...I don't always agree with him, but when I do, he manages to capture everything I love about the movie and there's a lot to love here.
-
Seriously The Rocky franchise needs it. Cast Johnny Knoxville as Rocky. Cast Butterbean as his nemesis. Then just have them re-enact their scene from the first Jackass movie. Brilliant.
-
It's racist to think that it would be racist to have Rocky fight a black boxer, asshole. You see two athletes and one is black and so it must only be due to wanting to beat down black people that Rocky would be fighting a black boxer. What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you watch boxing?
-
I am sorry, but I just don't see what the rest of you guys are seeing....it looks average to me..nothing much interesting or new here. Also, about the whole black boxer stuff....well alot of the best champions have been black so if anything having him fight a black boxer is just being realistic and Rocky does not win (which again is keeping it realistic because he is not a heavy weight at all!)
-
Don't shit on it, Harry. It's like revenge of the sith but with Rocky and it came before revenge of the sith.
-
Wouldnt it be great if the movie ended the way that the first one did and the franchise comes full circle. Rocky who everyone knows has no chance to win the the fight takes the champ the distance, shocks the world and tells his son that he loves him.
-
Search for Rocky on AICN and see the article that was submitted back in December of 2005. If he dies at the end, then its after the conclusion of of the fight and away from the ring.
-
Is that the motherfuckin 3-6 Mafia doing a remix of Eye of the Tiger?
-
That would be ass-bad
-
I'm very optimistic about this - I really think this could be a great Coda for the character. I can do without a rap remake of 'Eye Of The Tiger' - why do it? What's the point? But everything else looks fine. I don't see any need for him to die in the ring - let him live a happy retirement. Just give Carl Weathers a ghost flashback scene and I'll be happy. As for the guy who says Rocky is racist, seriously dude go and buy a clue.

"Heavy duty punches that will rattle his ancestors."
by Wave Motion Gun
That's gold. I'm there. Never thought I'd ever see another Rocky movie, and definitely never thought I'd actually be looking forward to it. Hope Sly hits a home run.
-
...on a high note.
-
"Yeah, man... that was sweet... Hey, didn't you wear that shirt when we recorded Eye of the Tiger?"
-
...simply because of the first Rocky. But what the heck is A.J. Benza doing in this?
-
Not so much. I read some of the script and it didn't seem so great. Has a bit of Blade 3 about it. But I hear they want to keep that franchise going beyond the 4th movie, so maybe it's just impossible for it to have the same Gravitasssss as the Final Rocky.
-
this looks like a really well shot film, it has a sharp, clean look, great lighting.
-
...or is Duke's "Hurtin bombs" speech already sounding like a classic? His delivery of the line "Heavy duty punches that will rattle his ancestors" sends a shiver down my spine.
-
Much, Much, too soon.
-
This really should be released worldwide this Christmas.
-
Exactly. Though I admit it does look better then I thought. I just hope the movie isn't too successful. Otherwise all the other has-been action actors will start getting green lights to star in their own improbable-story comeback movie.
-
the film looks TERRIFIC. Come on Rock!
-
I'll be there in the center seat of the theater opening night. Rocky is my all-time favorite movie character EVER. Watching Rocky movies just makes you feel good, despite the weaknesses in them as films. Who cares? They're just fun! Screw the Playstation 3 - we should all be getting in line to watch Rocky Balboa now! Woo hoo! <p> Oh, and this crap about racism - it's groundless. I mean, come on. Rocky has black trainers for crying out loud. I don't know the numbers, but there are so many black fighters out there than white, the odds are that he would face a black fighter. That's just the way the boxing world is! Besides, I don't really think Mason Dixon is being painted as an evil person - just cocky. From what I've heard, he and Rocky end up having nothing but respect for each other, not hate. <p> Just over one month away before we can all celebrate with Rocky. My guess is that Rocky loses the fight, but goes the distance, just like in the first film, thus compleeting the circle. They filmed enough endings so that none of us really knows how it's going to turn out, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
-
ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
-
Italians start thinking they're heavyweight fighters after seeing a Rocky movie? Kind of like how black kids think they're hardcore gangsters after listening to the new Dipset track? Fuck outta here with that hypocritical racist bullshit. Turning this shit into a race debate just showcases your insecurity. As far as that guy who wrote that long story on some stand-up comedian/social commentary bullshit it was totally unfunny, poorly written and it smacks of someone who caught way too many feelings. I've seen white kids knocked out by black kids and black kids knocked out by white kids. Race doesn't have shit to do with it. Man up people.
-
I was sceptical before, but I want to see this now! I'm glad they aren't hiding the fact that Stallone is old and are actually using it to their advantage!
-
Interesting how it's not at all racist to stereotype Italian Americans. Anyone who thinks there's a streak of White supremacy in these films has got a serious problem mentally. I'm talking internal conflicts, people. You're talking about Rocky here. His best friend was black. His trainer is black. What are they, Uncle Toms? Don't be an asshat. Any racism you read into these films is there in you to start off with - you're bring it in to the f%%king film to begin with.
-
Now that gAyBKing has two Stallone films to autoeroticate over, what next for Arnie? My wishlist is a Barbarossa biopic, Wings Of Heaven, and King Conan. Sadly we are more likely to see Superman recast as Gary Coleman out of Different Strokes.
-
Stallone was better in Spy Kids 3D.
-
Simple solution: Don't watch it.
-
The whole idea of Rocky is that it's a parallel for Stallone's career. Rocky started off as an unknown and rose to superstardom, only to fall from the heights of success. Who does that sound like? So when you think about it, the larger issue is whether Stallone can make a comeback in Hollywood. Perhaps that will depend on how well this movie does.
-
He made it feel like a tv film. Stallone's Rocky is less a performance than an impersonation. It's all crappy superficial mannerisms and movements, reminding me of Rodney Dangerfield doing a nightclub monologue. The speech patterns sound right and what he says is occasionally lifelike, but it's a studied routine, not a character. The reason the film doesn't work is because of Stallone. Throughout the movie we are asked to believe that his Rocky is compassionate, interesting, even heroic, though the character we see is simply a lousy unconvincing actor imitating a lug. Sorry, its not enough for me not to watch this awful movie--I need to tell other people why they shouldn't watch it either.
-
BUUUUUURN!...But seriously, when the violin theme kicked in and the bald dude who was Apollo's trainer was coached him I got a chill and I was totally back in Rocky's world. It looks like they've completely captured the spirit of the original film and it's cool to see dude from Heroes in it too. I'm there.
-
"Maybe I'll take you upstairs and violate you like a parking meter." And then she says: "sost you a quarter." Yeah that was fantastic writing. You Rocky fans are hilarious.
-
When Rocky wrestles Hulk Hogan who is introduced as "Thunderlips!", who is described as "the ultimate mountain of desire!" Yeah, yet another proud moment for you Rocky fans.
-
How about Ralph Macchio as an over the hill middle aged Karate Kid. Travolta as a "finally out of the closet" Tony Manero running a dance studio out of his old Brooklyn neighborhood.
-
...why they shouldn't watch it either." Sorry to break it to you little buddy, but no one gives a toss what you think. Sad case.
-
When Stallone becomes an international diplomat, beats Drago, and single-handedly ends Communism and brings down the Berlin Wall? Yeah that wasn't silly or anything. You Rocky fans make me giggle.
-
You're helping to keep this as the top talkback.
-
To quote your boy in Rocky V: "I'll take you upstairs and violate you like a parking meter." Fanstasic C Legion, simply fastastic!
-
No wonder you dislike Rocky...
-
I'm gonna give you a "Hot Carl Weathers." Fair warning.
-
knee high socks, cut off tee shirt and meet me in the sea for a bit of slow mo "male bonding" Rocky III style.
-
I'll show you what the stallion can do C Legion.
-
Yes?
-
or benders, but as long as you keep bumping the talkback up...
-
Thunderlips was Rocky III..thanks for stopping by.
-
Now prepare to receive a Hot Carl Weathers.
-
...that I prefer the trailer to Rocky 6 over the trailer of Spider-Man 3!!!! I like the Spidey trailer but this is the amazing. GO ROCKY!!!
-
I think you mean Loose Bowel Ricky.

I was like "Bitch, I just wanted some fuckin' ONION RINGS!!" She could never deliver on simple instructions, no, she always had to put weird shit in my food.
-
Steny Hoyer was picked by House Democrats to be majority leader. The sound you heard was 3/4 of the country saying, "Who???". Let's see if ol' Nancy can make this long troubled relationship work.
-
What the movie is showing is three distinct attitudes, and it's offering a criticism on two of them.<p> The first is the Jingoistic Flashy American attitude exemplified by Apollo Creed (and James Brown). This attitude is style over substance, cockiness instead of confidence, and the inability to take an opponent--one who may be your equal--seriously. The fact that Apollo dies indicates the belief that this sort of attitude is wrong, and may be fatal to the practitioner. In others, it's a slap in the face of America Fuck Yeah! attitudes (you listening, Toby Keith?).<p> The second attitude is that displayed by Drago. This is a belief in science and technology that can build a better machine that will overcome all obstacles. It is unemotional, immovable, but ultimately can not match up with the third attitude.<p> This third attitude is of industriousness and dedication, humility and ingenuity. It's equated with the land in Rocky's use of farm implements to train. The fact that he does this training in the Soviet Union demonstrates that such a mindset is possible for both nations (Rocky representing the US) and also ties into the original ideas of the strengths of the working class. If he can change (from the first attitude) and you can change (from the attitude) then everyone can change (to the third attitude).<p> That is what Rocky IV is all about.
-
"In other words" not "in others"<p> "from the second attitude" not "from the attitude"
-
I have to say that's a fair and well stated assessment. Based upon those types of factors, I think it's safe to then say that the attitude of "Rocky Balboa" will be that an old, down-n-out boxer can still knock yo' ass the fuck out!
-
Has always fluctuated. It's probably because she has a lot going on and can't work out as much.
-
Of the strength of the Baby Boomer generation in a world that appears to revolve around Gens X & Y. His relationship with his son demonstrates that there are incompatibilities involved, but these can be overcome and both sides of the gaps should try to close it.
-
Did you gain this insight simply from watching the trailer?! ;)
-
I have l33t trailer sk1llz. Unless it's Happy Feet. Damn you propagandists!
-
In the words of one David "Brentmeister General": "Aww...see? Racial."
-
I can not wait to see this film. I saw the preview before The Departed and the whole theater was buzzing about it. I heard more then one guy tell his girlfriend that he would be going. In fact, after I just watched this newest trailer, I was so excited, I KO'ed my parents!
-
Just set up the other four Rocky films to tape (next Wednesday on SPIKE) since it's been years since I've seen some of them.
-
I know I'm late but I have to say, that trailer really got me excited to see this. It feels authentic and REAL, Like the first 2. While I enjoyed the 3rd and 4th, I just thought they were way too "Pop" like.. I'll be there on Christmas day.....
-
I wanna see a Rocky movie again. <p> "yeah i'll have some popcorn some juicy fruit, some jube jubes....and the niggas gonna pay for it....you heard me now pay for my fuckin candy...."
-
The first thing to come to mind is that Lipton Brisk Iced Tea Commercial... "You can do it Rocky!"
-
For those that said this would automatically suck, I would love to inflict some HURTIN BOMBS on you...everyone I show this trailer to says the story is what is drawing people in to it. GO SLY the screenwriter!!!
-
Now if I can just get everybody else to admit that, my job on this site would be a lot easier :D

www.aintitpoliticallycorrect.com - what the fuck is with all these "racist" posts all of a sudden? Rocky was racist because the Heavyweight Champ of the World, Apollo Creed, was black? the vast majority of HW WC's have been black, as indeed have the majority of the greatest boxers, irrespective of weight. had they made Apollo a white guy, that would have been racist and drained any sense of realism from the original film. what next? Star Wars racist as Lando didn't get the easy kind of shot on the Death Star which was afforded to Luke?? why don't you people who want to read racism into every film just fuck off and hunt down Mel Gibson or something.
-
I'll be there Christmas day. Hope he lives, too, so that they can make a sequel when this does well at the box office.
