Looks like Borat is riding this wave all the way to the bank... Him and Depp will make a nice paring....

Some one compared Cohen to Adny Kaufman

    by Drworm2002

At first I thought it was stupid...Im a Huge Kaufman fan. But now, I can kinda see it.

I really can't stand this guy and don't know what Isla Fisher sees in him. I could only tolerate him in two movies...not sure if this will be the third.

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 7:43 a.m. CST

    very nice!

    by Lance Rock

there, Mr. Lant, are you happy?

    by ryanislyin

Tim Burton is very overrated. I'm struggling to think of a single movie outside of Big Fish that was worth a damn. Even Willy Wonka, the material he was supposed to be PERFECT for, seemed uninspired. Pacing was poor, dialogue was canned. Don't get me started on the Nightmare Before Christmas. You really have to ask yourself: "What is wrong with my aesthetic and cognitive capacities if I enjoy anything Burton." EOL

Do you seriously think Cohen is racist? You miss the point by a mile. I bet you are American.

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 8:38 a.m. CST

Will Cohen ever do press as himself?

    by BigTuna

People in England will know this better then me, but does he ever do interviews out of character? Because with him becoming a huge comic movie star, he'll have too.

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 8:40 a.m. CST

    by Datascream

not all americans think he's racist. Just that dimwit. DIAF

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 9:38 a.m. CST

    So funny, yet so overexposed.

    by Nice Marmot

Oh well, still intriguing to picture him in a Burton flick.

ryanislyin- You seem to forget about Ed Wood

    by Lovecraftfan

Ed Wood was easily one of the best films of the 90s and a great great movie. Most people consider one of his best films. I don't know why you forgot about that.

Pirelli is basically a cameo role. One song where the newly arrived (after years on a penal island having escaped weeks before) Sweeney challenges Pirelli's hairgrowing miracle exlixer and then to a dual haircutting/toothpulling contest. SPOILER. Beneath Pirelli's charactured Italian accent we later find out he is an Irish lad who was once Sweeney's apprentice. He threatens to blackmail Sweeney by revealing his true identity and turn him in. Sweeney cuts his throat, his first kill. Then, the enterprising Mrs. Lovette decides to bake Pirelli into a pie.

    Make Up

    by Purgatori

So do you think they are going to old Depp up for this? I'm curious to see how he changes up his appearance for this one.

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 10:36 a.m. CST

Less Andy Kaufman more Peter Sellers

    by :-o

He's brilliant. Probably crazy and depressed. He actually went out last week as Borat without cameras and got himself punched out in a bar doing his shtick. DEFINITELY not racist. He should consider it an honor and a privilege to piss off the KIND of people he does. He's on a mission. Just like with Andy, though, if you are rubbed the wrong way you probably need to look deep within yourself as to why.

    by R.C. the "Wise"

This will be a smash hit. It's simple math; Depp + Burton = Gold. Depp + Burton + Cohen + Elfman + H.B. Carter = Titanium!!!

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 11:22 a.m. CST

    But can they sing????

    by Darth Tenor

If I'm not mistaken, this is still the Stephen Sondheim "Sweeney Todd" which is a bitch to sing all around. Have any of these actors done a musical in their lives? I don't want to have Borat do to Pirelli what Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood did to "Paint Your Wagon".

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 11:32 a.m. CST

How long till he causes trouble on the set?

    by The_Boo

Has he ever played a role where he wasn't totally buried in his character? I'm only familiar with Ali G and Borat, those two characters mess with people constantly can he just straight up act?

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 11:45 a.m. CST

    by paralyser-pro

He plays the gay french NASCAR driver foil to Will Ferrell's Ricky Bobby. Priceless stuff. Yep.

    Borat & Burton

    by Saltoner

Mr. Cohen is great! I can't wait to see his true film debut, but Tim Burton can't direct his way out of a paper bag, so it's a bit too bad his first cool acting gig is marred by a bad filmmaker.

Yes, SBC has done interviews as himself, and it's really strange to see since it's so rare. Here's a clip from The Daily Show (remove spaces):

    by Talkbacker with no name

"Do you seriously think Cohen is racist? You miss the point by a mile. I bet you are American." - now read back what you wrote. Can you tell me for one point which part you just said is racist?

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 1:31 p.m. CST

    hey, that's not bad...

    by dragon-lord

I don't hate this casting idea, so, why not? It's a small, but fun, over the top part.

  • Nov. 14, 2006, 1:33 p.m. CST

in this case, Seph_J is actually a classist

    by chiahead

And, perhaps, a culturalist. But Americans are not a race, so there's really no racism going on here.

I'll watch anything Depp does. Cohen is just icing on the cake. Also...MCMLXXVI get a fucking life man. It's sad that you're sole purpose of clicking the "Post Comment" button is to continue playing out this Michael Bay nonsense. It was funny the first 100's an eye sore.

    Totally forgot about Talladega

    by The_Boo

For a guy that doesn't do a whole lot in the way of makeup to change his looks from character to character it's easy to forget each one is the same guy. He get's so deep in the character that they all seem like completely independant people. Are there any reports of how he was on the set? IMDB says he's normally a quiet and reserved guy, just curious cause I don't see Burton and Depp putting up with someone that is less than professional causing shenanigans on set.
