    So how does it feel?

    by thesplinter

To be a loser, Aramel. Anyway, leave it to Fox to take a cool show idea and order 12 episodes, then show 4 out of order and then cancel it.

but seriously, wtf is the amazing race? I know what survivor is because of all the hype that surrounded it, but can anyone explain that analogy in more detail? I understand it's a Lost rip off, but what isn't these days?

    Tim Minear

    by franklin t marmoset

I like this Tim Minear. He was one of the more talented people involved in the dour soap opera that Angel became. He was going down with the ship, but it seemed like he was the only one with a little tin cup, bailing the water over the side. Also, I liked what he did on the Firefly television series. I hope this new one works out better for him.

This is probably the most accessible of Minear's shows.

    by danielkurland

It'd be nice if it didn't get cancelled outright.

    Fox totally missed with Wonderfalls.....

    by ninja nerd

Fox cancelled that little gem after 4 aired episodes. It was pretty brilliant work. I bought the 13 episode DVD set and have shown or loaned it to quite a few family and friends. Every single person really liked it and said "when was this on?" I don't have any confidence in Fox doing much, if anything, right with this new series.

    by appleballs

a bit matrixy with all the car swerving and camera moving in and out of people's windows, but its tim fucking minear, so it will of course be brilliant and then abruptly cancelled.

If you're going to make fun of Bush...

    by rinse

then you need to manage quotes better than he does. He actually said: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me... You can't get fooled again!"

Maybe Tim's figured out how to mix his stuff w/ the ingredients needed to attract a FOX audience; otherwise.. four eps? :-o

He makes great shows that get cancelled before their time. Still, they're always fun while they last.

    by oisin5199

Minear is really one of the must underappreciated talents on television. I do hope this one lasts. On the other hand, if it doesn't, maybe he can get back to working on the Spike movie.

    Cannonball Run - The Series

    by brit3424

Yackbacker hit the nail right on the head. Thay should also bring back Jackie Chan just for the Hell of it! I've got a feeling with Minear's History with Fox that it will be a hit, but because Fox doesn't like to keep good shows around for long will be soon after cancelled. Beyond also sounds like it will have a quick death as few Sci-fi shows truly survive on the Fox network!

When I read Herc's post I thought of making

    by slder78

a joke that involved, Cannonball Run, Rat Race, Smokey and the Bandit. Then I read Variety's article and found that they were going to use 2 out of the 3 i just mentioned. That is not a good sign. My prediction: DVD boxset on sale in summer 2008 that reads "The Complete Series"

    Weeds was fucking awesome

    by foreignerbelt

Weeds was fucking awesome this season. It's been said to me that maybe all seasons should be 13 eps long. something to think about, but I'm American so I always want more of a good thing. anyway if he did angel and firefly maybe Minear's got some chops, but Herc, the Inside was fucking awful. I mean it. It was terrible. and that was his baby. so I dont feel overly optimistic about this project which I've actually never heard of until now. hope it doesn't suck. but my spidey sense is tingling. and my spidey sense detects shows that suck.

    Tim Finally Hits Big?

    by emvan

After seeing the jaw-droppingly brilliant first five minutes at Worldcon, and hearing Tim talk about the show, I think he's finally succeeded in creating a vehicle (ha ha) that FOX executives can understand and support. Which is the whole enchilada. Realize that Wonferfalls actually got decent-good ratings relative to its Friday-night death slot. And Drive is vastly more accessible to the general public. If FOX gives this a good time slot, meaning that the execs grok the first few delivered eps, then the show hitting big is a foregone conclusion. Unless they reject the orginal pilot and force him to write a game but ultimately inferior replacement over the course of a weekend.

but CatVutt, you're right...after a few shaky outings, VM finally got it together again this week. Let's hope the earlier eps were just an anomaly.

I was hoping it would be a continuing TV series version of the Mark Dacascos-Kedeem Hardison movie. This from the network that cancelled Brisco County Jr. and John Doe.
