    Have a listen...

    by board shitlez

To the music on the Goldeneye trailer on You Tube. It now sounds so hideously dated and thin it's unreal. Squealing tinny guitars and anaemic beats. By the sound of things this is back on track. Do not visit this review if you have not read the book or know the story - it'll ruin it.

    THIS NEEDS A SPOILER WARNING!

    by board shitlez

Just looked again - this link definitely needs a spoiler warning. Read the titles of these tracks - ruin the film.

    Spoilerhood ahoy

    by samson_k

Why is it that occasionally soundtrack albums have tracks named after majot plot reveals! The biggest one being 'The Sixth Sense' and the infamous 'MALCOLM IS DEAD'. Which is akin to Angel Heart having a track called 'Bloody Hell - he's the guy he's looking for and he's going straight to Hell!'. However I suppose Casino Royale the novel has a spoiler and soundtrack net do indicate spoilers. What I can't get my head round is the fact the album doesn't have the song on it - it seems mental. It ain't a great song but Bond Themes Songs are kind of part of the experience good or bad!

That's funny, Samson_K. I was a good boy and avoided all spoilers for The Phantom Menace, only to glance at a soundtrack CD a week before the film was released and see the track 'Qui-Gon's death' followed by 'Qui-Gon's funeral'. 'I wonder what happens to this Qui-Gon fellow?' was not what I was thinking after that.

    Bond theme

    by franklin t marmoset

I'm surprised they're bothering with a big theme song for this Casino Royale. Will there be the traditional opening credits with the song played over some nude silhouettes, like in all the other Bond films? If they're going for a new beginning, maybe that's an old habit they could have left behind. Also, as a long-time fan of Mr Chris Cornell, I have to say I'm disappointed with his work on this Bond song. Not the best thing he's ever done, which is a shame since it's going to get so much attention. I'm still looking forward to the film, though.

    by board shitlez

The start of that song is class, and the verse is has a cool creepy melody, but the chorus? You expect to see a guy shaving and someone screaming "Gillette!" in the background.

The soundtrack-titles are truly in Episode I-spoiler-ranks, so plz don't spoil it for the other readers and put a warning on the post.

    SO tired of David Arnold.

    by minderbinder

I've never been that wowed by him, ever. Would have been nice to bring in some new blood instead of more of the same tired stuff. Giacchino would probably have been the most obvious choice, although there are a bunch of other young guys who could completely nail this.

i hope craig won't play it like dalton

    by exeter

the movie iteration of bond needs to have the fleming serious, and yet, believe it or not, tongue-in-cheek humor. NO one wants to watch a stiff-ass brit onscreen, it works in books but not in movies, Terence Young the greatest Bond director himself pushed for Connery to be light-hearted w/ post-kill quips. hophefully Craig won't be a new Dalton and instead a Connery.

    Evanescence Would Be Perfect

I can't access the link for some reason, but as soon as I heard Evanescence put to Daredevil I was thinking "This would be sooooo Bond."

    Oh good.

    by epitone

These clips sound like someone finally made David Arnold cut back on the layers and layers of electronics and actually write some Bond music. And it sounds great. And I'm just incredibly relieved. Because after Die Another Day I was kind of thinking that the next one would just be 100 minutes of overtracked chainsaw sounds and screaming.

    Young Americans Epic, Bond dry

    by king willy

Please some break it down for me, is this any good. I can’t check it out until I get home from work. David in my mind is about as good as Ron Jeremy’s wood after 5 hours on set, weak. David Arnold composed one of the best scores for Young Americans, in fact I would call it a near master piece. It was perfect; it complemented the action and reinforced the epic and sombre mood of the film. At times it punctuated the action or even better still, it added a layer of sensitivity or vulnerability to many of the “tougher” characters in the film which made them more 3 dimensional. After that, he did Stargate, which was fun furious and it had all the right nods and homage’s to feel geeky, but then he must have been getting too used to his jimmy getting waxed or he turned into Tony Montana with too much yeo. For Tomorrow Never Dies he composed that in 2 weeks with no talk from the director. After that people just said he could do what he wants. He’s had his moments but not enough. C’mon guys I bet if someone played you 15 secs of John Barry you would know exactly what Bond film is was from probably even the scene, you can’t with this hack!!! Check out Terance Blanchard score for Inside Man thats very Bond. Or even David Holmes, if he started doing scores and not great funky track, I believe he'd be better that than this damm fool
