Holy Crap! There Used To Be Venom stuff!
Hey guys... So, Sony has asked us to remove the images... hopefully enough of you saw it so there aren't too many pissed off fans out there. They said the filmmakers had not approved the images. I don't really know what the big deal is... you didn't see much anyway. Oh well... I've left the article so the talkbacks can continue... Aren't we due for the full length trailer next month? Hopefully it'll be as kick-ass as the teaser was...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Upon my awakening from my post Prague travels, the very first email I see in the main AICN folder contains these scans from Master Replica's upcoming SPIDER-MAN 3 line of collectibles. The folks at Yoda's News nabbed this scoop which shows us a design sketch for Venom as well as a prototype for the Venom face (uncolored). The prototype is a little weird... don't know how much I like the mouth, but I have to say... love the jagged eyes and the veiny look to the raised webbing. The Venom art is really nice. That mouth looks great! On top of all that, those statues look fucking cool. Just Spider-Man hanging upsidedown... I want! What do you folks think?

Any real movie news today?
-
Wow! That IS pretty cool!
-
and let's see that in action okay?
-
venom doesn't look that big
-
I can already smell the angry comic book fan uproar on the winds.
-
Whoopidee-doo!!!
-
Does not look all that different from the symbiote Spidey suit. Also, 1st?
-
OMG!!!! It's a clue! It has to be! There's another villian in the flick! Named Spyder Man!!!Again, yawn
-
Where's the set pics since you seem to have people sneaking onto sets all the time?
-
Deal with it. Move on.
-
Seriously, do you guys remember LAST winter/spring/summer when it was all Spidey3 all the time?? FINALLY a little taste of what's to come in a little over six months. But c'mon, AICN. Quit spitting on our dicks and give us more than just this.
-
you ever stick a vacuum extension hose up your ass and fart just so you could get high off the rectal fumes!!??? ITS INTENSE!!!
-
...in that head shot. Like the eyes, though. Wish the pics were bigger and full color.
-
I can do better, because.....I just can, you know? Cause, I'm the only one who knows and if it is not exactly how I dream it should be, then it sucks.......Mom?..... can you throw in another batch of pizza rolls and next time seperate my white socks from my blue speedos???..Dammit!!!!!!!!!!!
-
We all knew Sam Raimi would tone down the look of venom just to make it more believable. Also he had said that he would be using a suit as apposed to full cgi so considering it's just Topher Grace under there he looks pretty big. Love what they have done with the veiny webbing also.
-
Lips on Venom are like flaming nipples on Optimus Batman.
-
So many villains to tackle before attempting the Venom story arc.
-
I like how he works it into his posts.
-
You wouldn't know a decent Venom costume if it climbed onto your head and took a shit. You're the same douchebags who had a problem with the organic webs back in the day and guess what? You were wrong about that shit, too. Bring it on, Raimi! See you in hell, chumps.
-
since it's not in color or moving, but from what I see it looks pretty good. You can't really have the Venom snout in the movie, so the lips are acceptable. The veins look pretty cool as well. Spiderman 2 was better than the first so let's see if Raimi can top himself a second time.
-
STFU nerd before i sew your asshole shut!

excitement is the fact that Quit went to Prague! Ain't it cool news? Please Quint do tell, what the the purpose of the trip to...where was it again....Prague, you say?
Quint going to Prague = Flames on Optimus = Nipples on Batsuit -
...I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing. I just think those lips look strange in the uncolored head shot we see. They will probably appear much more subdued in black. I was against including Venom at all in this series, but I'll be damned if Raimi doesn't have me interested to see how he pulls it off.
-
I'll know when I see it in action!
-
Is reversed meh.
-
Granted, his mouth got bigger under other artists, but it was pretty darn big with Todd at the wheel: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/n5/n27570.jpg
-
Let's be clear. Early reports of "venom" indicate that the vast moajority of the movie is Peter Parker with the symbiote suit. Reports also indicate that Brock doesn't receive the symbiote until close to the very end of the movie, if not THE very end.
This means that it is not only unrealistic, but stupid to expect the version of venom we all know and love to be in this movie. The toys are based on the movie and therefore are based either on a corrupted Parker or the two seconds of Brock-Venom that is actually in the movie. -
You sew? And your interested in my asshole? Fag. When you due back in Boystown?
-
Are those, like...cloth masks that you can take off their busts, or are they just busts that look like the masks? Because...I mean, if I have to pay $150 to have a cloth Spider-Man mask to wear around the house, I'll do it. And yes, I'm almost 30. And yes, I think I've officially reached the point where the possibility of a replica Spider-Man mask being available erects my penis faster than any porn. So...I'm just gonna go play in traffic now.
-
ill be back in boystown as soon as im down skullfuucking your mother...yes i sew...and yes im interested in your asshole...thus im a fag...anything else?
-
am i the only one who thinks that the difference between the bust and art displays some fucking awsome possibilities? namely that of Brock and Parker going toe to toe with Brock as nothing more than Black-Suit Spidey with a mouth, only to have that mouth suddenly get a fuckload wider and sharper mid-sentence. have the claws pop out at about the same time as well and we have potential for a fuck-off awesome sequence.
-
yeah yeah...venoms cool and all but bring on what we really wanna see...the rhino...cg not no clown suit called the thing ferchroistsake!
-
...it just seems weird to some of you because comic book artists tend to draw Venom with his mouth perpetually hanging open while his 15-foot calamari tongue slobbers all over the place. The lips are intentionally big, as I think the mouth is supposed to be fairly large as well. It'll look fine, as will the rest of him. I particularly like the raised, vein-y webbing.
-
Figure-shmigure I want to see footage!
-
That's clearly "Spyder-Man" ... whatever that is exactly. The Venom bust isn't shown ... and from the looks of the full body figure in the 1st picture, it will look like Venom.
-
so says this image: http://www.kid4life.com/yoda2/2006images/MR-MARVEL1.jpg
-
Venoms lips are too big!!!!!!!!! Sam Raimi HOW COULD YOU!!!??? You raped my childhood!! Venom's muscles were bigger in the comics I grew up with! Where's his tongue??! Okay, I proved my point. I can't wait to see Transformers! Another Spidey movie?? That I can wait for. Mediocre movies thus far. X-Men and Superman Returns all the way.
-
When they're one Movie Poopshoot looking at all the nerds posting shit about their movie? Yeah that's totally you guys. Get over it, it's just a fuckin movie for cryin out loud. Seriously, who cares, yeah I like a little advance peek and whatever, but I'm not gonna shit my pants if it doesn't look the way I think it should. If you guys care so much why don't you get off your asses go to scholl and get a job in the industry instead of being armchair directors and costume designers. Seriously.
-
youre all fuuckin nerds...
-
Yeah, it's smaller than it's current "always open with tongue and green slime," but it's still mighty big. Then again, that's Todd McFarlaine, who drew Tony Twisterelli that way half the time, too. I still say a large mouth is the way to go, with lots of fangs. Making it a "reveal" scene where the mouth enlarges could work, too.
-
= Lucas-scripted/directed BSG movie = Apollo fat suit/Kara long-hair/Adama 'stache = Whedon's attempts at penning sci-fi = Jackson's upcoming 15min short = non-sucky Halo flick = Cameron/Scott Alien 5 set in the Bronx with Whedon script-editor = Lohan as Hermione in HP6 = Cruise to replace Fiennes as Voldemort = Parker/Stone marionette version of Star Wars saga (actually, that's a good idea) = PJ's Kong EE to include Kong's 12ft schlong = your brother played by HULK HOGAN, BRUTHA!!!!!!!!!! GET TO DA CHOPPA!! IF IT BLEEDS, DON'T FORGET TO ADD THE CG BLOOD!!!
-
Look on the statue, his mouth is obviously open and quite toothy.
-
In the most recent version of the shooting script, Venom, i.e. Eddie Brock and the symbiote together, does not show up till the final 8 pages.
Also, phuckbucket, my Mom called. She said you're a crappy lay. Then my Dad got on the phone and was like, "You talking about that fag phuckbucket? I fucked him." Weird, right? -
If you check out the issues of ASM where Carnage first appeared, Bagley's venom looks a lot like this here sculpture. I like it.
-
http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254012
^shows the symbiote in a much gooier way, and if you look at the face thats classic venom. DONT PANIC from what Ive heard on the ol ssh boards, the "mouthless" venom was an early concept, so theres a strong possibility that venoms mouth would be cgi'ed in later....plus the raised webbing is black and not silver, so despite appearances, were going to get a pretty classic looking venom. also strong chance that well get parkers symbiote suit going a little haywire and giving him a venom face for a spilt second, which will really fuck the audience up! this movie is going to own and own and own -
cant hot-link the images, and cant be arsed hosting them myself oh well! chances are if youre into spidey youll frequent those boards anyways.

its very very late in this part of the world and I'm very tired, so I apologise. damn, why cant we get some damn posting options/edit/delete on this site?!
-
damn thing puts a space inbetween the "o" and the "r" when I post it. just delete the space and the link works. okay okay I'm off, and yes I deserve flaming for general stupidity! gnite all. *mwah*
-
i am putting my trust in raimi. he delivered last time. spider-man was the only comic i read growing up and he managed to move me with spider-man 2.
-
have to see him in action, wreaking havoc.
-
I know that we nerds tend to be a finnickly lot, but I never thought I'd see the day where we argued over whether Venom's lips were too big.
-
I genuinely don't know who you're talking about. Are you referencing a specific person or are you implying that it's a metaphor for America in general?
-
and poor attempt at photoshopping spiderman's head and grabbing existing venom sketches.
-
Venom should have no nose, and no lips.
the mask should be a rounded, bug-like head, with the globe of his head fading straight into his evil ass grill. -
...that an ellipse is more visually appealing than a comma, and avoids subject lines looking like run on sentences. It's not about getting people interested in your post, it's about our impatience with regards to expressing our expertise. We don't want to waste words, we want to jump right in and share our vast knowledge on the correct number of teeth in Venom's mouth, the relative worth of film elements compared to flames on Optimus, and the number of times we've been raped by various filmmakers.
-
If you look real carefully in venoms eye, you can see sam raimi pointing and laughing.
really? no ones gone here yet? -
Aren't we getting a new trailer... in less than a month o_O?
-
Jack is back!!
-
So you come here and proceed to bash Raimi, Bruce, and Spider-man? Man, I thought trolls that big and ugly usually lived under bridges.
-
about the general consensus here, BUT I actually think the design is a good compromise between something "new" and easier to digest/translate to the screen for people not familiar with venom, and us comic nerds who actually know what Venom looks like. Without the veiny, raised webbing, Venom would look rather plain if all matte black with no substance to him. Not only that, but it wouldn't lend to the screen much without some type of texture.
I haven't been let down by Raimi yet, so we'll see... -
I doubt the lips are Venom...prob evil spiderman or just a promo pic. And why is the bust coffee colored? Unfinished? Untill I see a real pic that says "This is Venom", we shouldnt jump to anything. It DOES say "Spyderman"...typo?
-
i suppose venom will talk in the movie. I'd rather him have a mouth than look like scooby doo anytime he has something to say
-
when people still continue to say "oh they had to change the character/story/suit to make it more believable". Yeah, a movie about a dude who gets bit by a radioactive spider and the spider's DNA combines with his and then he gets super-human strength and can climb walls etc. B/C people can believe that but not if he wears a smooth, black costume with a big white spider on it (front and back) and white diamond/square/whatever shapes on his hands. Apply everything I've just said to every other superhero movie, shake, stir, and vomit.
-
WHY THE FUCK NOT?
-
Looks like regular spiderman with long triangle shape sticking out from chin..not very well designed.
-
Honestly, Why can't spider-man 3 just be a slide show of actual comic panels. I think that would be a great way to gain new perspective on the charcters.
-
Don't confuse fantasy story elements with visual interest. In the same way that adding the texture/moiré patterns to the regular Spiderman costume helped it maintain visual interest when blown up across the size of a movie screen (where you don't have the same stylized rimlighting and big black lines to separate the character from the background like a comic which is only a few inchs wide), and stopped the loss of definition you get with spandex suits, things like raised webbing/veins stop a black character becoming a hole in the screen (compositionally speaking). If the character is going to look like they're part of a photorealistic environment then you need similar colour values but there's gotta be some sort of detail to help define the form, especially at that size. You're arguing storytelling tone vs visual/practical execution. Ignorant stuff like that drives ME crazy, especially with your fanboy-ish lording over everyone. I'll apply your views when you make the ultimate superhero movie that shows us all how it's done. I won't hold my breath though.
-
Really? Because it's the other way around with me. It drives me crazy that people say "it's a crazy superhero movie where [insert crazy shit here] happens, therefore anything I deign cool can and should happen!!!" Re-combinant super-spider/human DNA may have no realistic foundation in *our* world, but it presents an internal logic in the movie that is vague enough to allow for the suspense of disbelief. Spider-Man can't just pull a hamburger out of his ass when he's hungry, because that makes no fucking sense in any context. As for the black suit, well, I don't think it's any more rational that it took on the appearance of his normal suit (only black) -- I just happen to like the way it looks.
-
It looks at least more like the Venom logo on Venom's chest. So that's a good thing. I'm happy with the VEnom design so far, and this is coming from a huge fan of that character.
-

it's not his "lips," it's when the symbiote pulls back
by iamnicksaicnsn
and it's his real lips. Looks freakin awesome so far.
-
But stop hitting the pipe. Venom is utter clown shoes. Just because he wears a black costume doesn't make Venom a cool character. Morphing ain't special any more (it wasn't ever, really). Other than hating Spider-Man, Venom has no character to speak of, no motivation, and no reason to even be in the book -- let alone the movie. I'm hoping this new take changes my mind (at least in the context of the movies), but Venom is singlehandedly the lamest comic book character ever. And that includes McFarlane's lameass and derivative Spawn.
-
they got taken down? me wanna see please
-
A whole lot. I'm amazed I'm not being sucked toward a theater that will playing this movie right now, he sucks so badly. I'll have to remember to take everything out of my pockets when I go see it.

ErnieAnderson, have you read any spiderman comics?
by talkbacker with no name
Because this statement you made, which I'd like to read to the court here today, says you haven't. "Other than hating Spider-Man, Venom has no character to speak of" ...I rest my case. No more questions your honour.

please send to jcshetler@att.net

with the big white spider and white patches on the back of his hands - not just a black version of the red suit with the webbing! BullSHIT! Come on Sam, don't let me down!

...must have been duped into reading an awful lot of posts he wouldn't otherwise have read by the "..." technique and, therefore, has developed a paranoid, narcissistic fanatasy about people using perhaps the most appropriate punctuation to continue a thought in some insidous plot to waste his time. Seek help, Head. You can resist the ellipse. And nobody is trying to attract your attention. Really.

i really, really wanna see these images. anyone got them? know where i can view them?
-
http://www.hemmy.net/2006/06/04/spiderman-3-movie-leak-pictures/
'nuff said.. -
THose arent lips on "Venom", those are Eddie Brocks lips. The symbiot hasnt totally covered his face yet in the head statue. so, you are just seeing Eddie Brocks human mouth and chin.
-
you are the smartest person on here. Im so glad to here someone else realize thats some stuff doesnt not cross over mediums and alwasy work with out tweaking it. THe raised webbings is a must for the black suit or he will just look like a black blob. its sorta the same for green goblin, his comic suit would have looked weird on screen and would have turned a movie into a comic book movie. now, i did think there futuristic Goblin suit was crap, but he was goin in the right direction, they should have done a combination of both, sorta like the Alex Ross design he made for the movie
-
Spiderman has no chestmuscles though.. what does THAT mean?
-
someone posted the image on another blog, its on page 3, somewhere in the middle .
http://boards.sonypictures.com/spiderman/showthread.php?t=11350&page=3&pp=20 -
is a holdover term from print. The "Jump" is the continuation of an article on another page. One the web, the jump is usually the "More" button that continues a posting. So 16 pics after the jump would likely be the 16th pic on the second page.
-
...there are 16 pics for viewing on the next page. It may also refer to an ad placed in the middle of an article, that you "jump" past.
-
just like spiderman 2. spiderman 1 was ok i guess.... i just don't like raimie unless he's making comedy or horror
-
I hear ya but I personally think Hollywood could make ANY suit work on screen with today's technology (maybe they can borrow Harry's ILM light that's...magic). Starblitzer, Steve Rogers, and I stand firm about the black Spidey costume. Unless they opt out, and if that's the case, then I stand alone.
-
Sorry I was so harsh - You're a genius for thinking of Harry's Industrial Light that's ... no I can't say it! We agree to disagree about Spidey/Venom/Whatever the hell he is at that point as for example keeping the raised stuff is a logical visual clue of what it evolved from (or is a bastardisation of) and also lets the filmmakers use lighting & palette to tie the foreground character to the background plate without having to go insane with the rimlighting to separate him from the background plane. In other words the colours and atmospheric perspective make him look like he's part of the environment and the detail stops him from getting lost in it. Besides which, I'm no Venom expert but I agree with the people who reckon he's at the end and maybe not completely 'evolved' or whatever but that's just speculation (maybe they could keep going and the webbing does eventually become icky veins all over which would acheive the same effect). - Still, some things have nothing to do with where technology's at and no amount of tech can make, say, yellow spandex look good on a 30 foot screen. Wink. ______________ P.S. Deadpool, you're my best friend. I'll pay you later.
