The DAY OF THE DEAD Trailer Has Come To Make You Cry!!
Merrick here...
I'm unable to confirm whether or not this has appeared on AICN yet; the damn search engine's being mighty...goosey. So, just in case, I thought you might wanna take a look at. If this news is being repeated...apologies.
I'm not the biggest zombie fan in the world...but I remember the original DAY OF THE DEAD, and I also remember it being nothing like this.
Here's a trailer for the remake...directed by Steve Miner...whose bizarrely eclectic career ranges from producing the original FRIDAY THE 13th film, directing its first two sequel (he also directed HOUSE, WARLOCK, FOREVER YOUNG, and LAKE PLACID), and producing THE WONDER YEARS and DAWSON'S CREEK.
Not seeing any sign of the original's underground bunker here...nor much of the progenitor's tone. In texture and vibe, this feels more akin to Sci Fi Channel marvels like FRANKENFISH, or the more sublime MANSQUITO.
Personally, I kind of enjoyed the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake; I'm aware that many people didn't. This trailer may make naysayers reconsider their stance on that film.

i feel so cheap now.

I'd like to see the trailer, but my quicktime, she no work! If anyone has a direct link or flash format, it would be much appreciated.
-
I watched the Dawn of the Dead remake last night on USA. I like Dead Rising better.
-
FIST!
-
I loved the Dawn of the Dead remake - this looks like the scrapings found under Bigfoot's nutsack.
-
...worst search engine ever. I remeber was once searching for a Dawn of the Dead review on here, and the search gave me Lord of the Rings and Batman articles.
-
Wasting it, if this trailer is any indication.
-
It could very enjoyable or really stupid. I hope it is enjoyable and kickass with great Zombies.
-
funny stuff

I tried posting three times.

These shitty remakes must be stoppes.

could be shit, could be okay, who's to know?
-
im first assclowns...
-
Also, it can't be as bad as Day of the Dead 2.
-
I think Bud and the 'choke on 'em' guy (name escapes me) were my favourite parts of the original of this Day Of The Dead, but I suppose they won't be in this new souped-up version for the twenty-first century. Still, I also liked the Dawn Of The Dead remake for the most part, so maybe this one will follow suit.
Also, Mansquito? That's a real film? I like the sound of that one, although I'm not sure I want to see it. Seeing the actual film may spoil the ultimate Mansquito film that's playing in my head right now. -
Miner drools!
-
I really liked the Dawn remake, but this does look a little poor at the moment!
-
Utter shit.
-
This movie would be good after taking some mushrooms!
-
I see zombies, I see army guys, I see zombies eating and being shot by army guys...it's a zombie movie, what do you want? For the record, the original Day of the Dead sucked balls. It had a decent premise but it was so cheesy and just silly compared to Night and Dawn.
-
A synthesis, better than the sum of their parts, he's got the style of Uwe and the imagination and spark of Anderson, combined into a kind of bionic, uber-director the world isn't ready for. Perhaps he was their understudy? They took turns with him, maybe?
-
What the fuck was that? I've never been anti-remake before, as long as it adds something to the original, or enhances it in some way. When i think "what would've made the orginal better?", Nick Cannon does not immediately come to mind.
-
fuckin remakes.

Zombie films. please. thank you.

I need a stiff drink after watching that shit. By the way, why do so many bods insist on posting "FIRST", when most of the time they aren't?

Zombies that jump from 2nd story windows en masse, and hit the ground running....bitchin'

In the original the scientists were trying to find some kind of cure... but in this one they "created" a zombie virus? What the fuck is with this virus bullshit whenever someone talks about zombies? They can't just be evil any more? This is doomed to suck already.
-
Zombie films, most of them just average, will be around for a long time. Get used to it. The only thing wrong here is naming it Day of the Dead.

-
All it seems to have in common with the original is that has Zombies and soldiers in it.
Running zombies was one thing, now they are leaping out of windows from a couple of stories up?
Was suprised at how much I enjoyed the Dawn of the dead remake, I'll be shocked if I enjoy this one. -
The remake of Dawn of the Dead was far superior to the original. I don't think the original should even qualify as a horror movie.
-
i was kinda hoping it was goping to be the "remake" of the origional screenoplay.. but nope got this stupid trailer with a familar movie title and has nothing to do with the origional. first they fucked up dawn of the dead now the greatest zombie movie of all time day of the dead gets a "remake"?! i personaly would love to slap the taste outa the producers mouth for comming up with this stupid fucking idea and just fucking quit fucking up romero's masterpieces. just fucking stop
-
There's a delay, you fucking numrods. And The Dawn remake was better than the original. In fact, it was really only a remake in that it was a zombie movie set in a mall. Everything else was different.
-
They're DEAD! They're fucking DEAD and you wanna teach 'em TRICKS?!

fan.
-
do all the zombies in the dawn and day remakes sound like velociraptors? i miss the good ole fashioned moaning undead :(
-
It's a baaaad baaaaaaaad sign when they can't even get a few snippets of decent acting in the friggin trailer. Even Rhames looked bad! I won't waste a penny on this one. what a shame.
-
i can't believe he's in a horror movie not directed by uwe boll. that would fit him.
-
I am in the Peace Corps in Africa... I don't get to come to down much to check the news and when I do... I always come here bu trying to get news from last week or before is impossible here... not to mention when I try to search an article out... just awful.
-
you are such a great actor! why would you waste your time? why did anyone make this movie?!! dear god! it's an abomination! i need to vomit now...
-
I was just a baby when Carpenter's classic made it's theatrical run. Along w/"Fright Night", there's not another horror movie I'd rather see on the big screen.

...Apart from the fact that there are zombies, and some army people, this has about as much in common with day of the dead as Platoon, (and Platoon had a helicopter and soldiers, also like DOTD). So why not call it a re-make of Platoon, ffs. On a side note, possibly the worst trailer ever. What a complete pile of utter shit. Does anyone know who greenlights this kind of shit, cause I want their job. I could, in fact, not turn up for work, keep the paycheques, and probably do as good a job. Motherfuckers.
-
that's an abomination. George Romero should make his way over to the studio and bitch slap some assholes. Oh, and the Dawn remake kinda sucked. It had a good moment here or there, but most of it consisted of dumb people running around and doing dumb things. The opening was kind of cool though. Romero's Dawn rules!

Vegetarian zombie, looks like the rumours were true
by regicidal_maniac
That big eared blonde skinny army kid who hits on, is it Mena Suvari? (Damn girl you can't do better than this?) turns out he's a vegetarian and when he turns he turns into a vegetarian zombie. Include me out.
-
...to the remake or just a third stand alone Dead remake (since the Night remake fromt he 90s isn't an official prequel to the Dawn remake of not too long ago)? I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'd be more inclined to give this a rent if it were a sequel to the Dawn remake. That movie was one of my most pleasant recent cinematic surprises.
-
This actually looks like a shitty remake of "The Crazies", and doesn't appear to have anything whatsoever to do with Day of the Dead. It certainly doesn't look any good, that's for sure.
-
A remake will not have Roddy McDowall and Chris Sarandon. So that's two strikes. Still I'd prefer sitting through a passable vampire flick than a poorly lit zombie crapfest....... and don't even get me started on Miner. H20 was a debacle.
-
Apparently, the newest the movie, the more tricks the zombies can perform. I heard somewhere that in the remake of the remake of the remake (coming out just two hours after the first remake) of land of the dead, zombies will compete in the olympics in decathlon and receive degrees from ITT in criminal justice in less than a year. That's what I heard. LONG LIVE (or UNLIVE?) SLOW ZOMBIES!!!!
-
C'mon people! I'm not 100% against remakes, but at least TRY to get the same feel/flavour of the original. This looks SUB-Sci-Fi channels to me. Absolute crap.
-
I liked the zombies jumping out of the hospital window, nice image. So it bears more resemblance to the Dawn remake than the original Day. This might be a good thing. Although I hope they at least have some homage to that smart zombie they had in the basement.
-
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

-
This is a remake sequel to a movie that was a remake of a sequel. Now by that last sentance Dawn of the Dead should've been horrible, but they treated it with care, and a deft hand at directing and didn't treat it like a toss off teens getting hacked movie. And if I remember it was pretty successful. I know me and everyone I know owns it on DVD. So why treat this with the same attitude they give all other crappy horror remakes. IF it weren't for the bunch of recognizeable actors I would say this would be premiering april 2007 on SciFi channel right after House of the Dead 2, which is what this really looks like a remake of. And furthermore... none of the creative team behind this saw that they could make any sort of political allegory with the military bunker, the dead subjects that are being tested/tortured, and the general atmosphere of the original? They just went with another uh oh, whats going on? are the Dead coming back? Lets run. I loved that by Day of the Dead they were just dealing with it.
-
Ya its a remake GET OVER IT. It was still pleasently surprising and was actually pretty good. This trailer was godawful though.
-
please let there be a giant fire that destroys all traces of this movie
-
"day of the dead" shot mostly at night.....too bad romero's original script never got shot, it qualified as baddass.
-
..that crucial Romero vibe..or is this what these wacky kids are watching these days? Romero zombies=the Beatles...new zombies=System of a Down..well you get the analogy

I enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake. It was pretty competantly done- Too bad it doesn't seem like you can say the same thing about this one. And Nick Cannon? yikes.
-
People are comparing the original Dawn to that ADHD/MTV generation "remake"? ...REEEally?!? I mean... REEEally?!
-
So, they absolutely jugg fuckled that one into oblivion.
-
Looks more like a prequel to the Dawn of the Dead remake to me. Start of trailer - no zombies. Zombie shows up, town becomes chock-ful of zombies. Army guys fight zombies... No "Zombies have been around for awhile", no "This army base is our last refuge", no "We have to train/adapt to zombies or we're extinct" themes... It's no remake. So the real question is why didn't they just call it "Night of the Living Dead" (remake #2)
-
Why the hell wouldn't they make it a sequel to the Dawn of the Dead remake? Fucking idiots. And it looks like shit, by the way.
-
That was such a God awful movie.
-
that better be in there
-
How the mighty have fallen. And that other dude earlier was right I bet, Ving Rhames will be playing the twin brother of the character in the Dawn remake. And stop saying no more zombie movies. Planet Terror will obviously rock everyones balls
-
Formulas...equations....a bunch of fancy terms that don't mean a thing. I wanna know if you're doing something that's gonna get us out of this deep shit we're in...or if you're all in there just jerkin each other off. Fuck this remake, and fuck the Dawn remake with the running zombies. This ain't a goddam field trip, people. This is a fucking war!!!!
-
Was great, and anyone who didn't like it is a poo sniffing twat.
-
and the original Night Of, and Dawn Of, were the only good zombie flicks Romero did. Day of the Dead sucked massive arse, and Land of the Dead was a cinematic shit burger. Fucking terrible film...
-
The original Day of the Dead has the best zombie carnage ever, bitch.
-
...had to say it again.
-
Wow! This looks pretty ding dang damn awful. What more can you expect with Nick Cannon in the lead? I guess this was easy money for Ving. I don't think I'll even watch this garbage when it makes its' way to cable...
-
then this must be Ving's brother character he talked about, when he was planning to go to Fort Wherever. Does that mean Steve will make an appearance as Mr. Dickhead in the end? that would be sweet!
This looks like the WB version of a zombie movie. Tweens with catch phrases. oh yay.
-
How the mighty have fallen eh! The earlier guy was right, this is a sequel to the Dawn remake and ving will be playing the twin brother of his character in Dawn. And stop saying no more zombie movies, planet terror is going to rock everyones balls
-
What the hell was that shit?
-
It will not post any of my comments. I remember why I hardly come to this shitty site anymore
-
according to Mr. Reddick in an article at Comingsoon.net - http://tinyurl.com/ylx7cn -
not a sequel.
Broken link to the trailer damnit! Wanted to see this. I really dug the original even though it was defintiely the weakest of the lot (at least until LotD came along anyway). The cheesiness is part of what made it so good.
For my .02, the Dawn remake was one of the better horror flicks I've seen in a while. I admit I thought the premise of running zombies to be almost blasphemous to the genre, but the way it was done (IMO) made it really cool. Only the very recently killed were able to do that. They slow down after the muscles begin to atrophy and decay, so it made sense to me.
Oh yeah, this site's search engine is absolutely worthless. It gives you everything EXCEPT what you input. -
One handed fully automatic rifle shooting from Nick Cannon? You've gotta be kidding me.

Apparrently these people watched House of the Dead 2 and remade that piece of shit and called it Day of the Dead. Why in the name of everything sacred can't these people just make their shitty zombie movies without buying the names of good ones and slapping it on there. This looks like horse shit, the acting looks terrible, I mean come on "It's a bad day to be a zombie" what kind of retard writes lines like that, I've seen better writing go into a Troma movie. Fuck these lazy film makers hopefully it bombs horribly and they aren't allowed near a film set for the rest of their days.
-
Wouldn't that be every day? Oh and this movie can only wish to rise to the greatness that is Frankenfish, the best Sci-fi channel gristmill movie of all time.

ASDFTHE BESTIST ZOMEI FILMS SINCE RES EVIL2 SFL;JKAFKDS
by alucardvsdracula
Wow, I like couldn't believe what I just saw, it was like the first time I rapped my sister in the ass - a bit wrong, a bit messy and the consequences of my actions made me an outcast from society forever. I think everyone who is involved in the film needs to meet my former self for a spot ass fucking. I'm especially impressed on a number of points: one, how closely it follows the plot of the original dotd (wow): two, how Ring Rames is totally NOT playing the same character from that other unnecessary remake (clever bit of continuity that): three, how it actually makes the Resident Evil series look like fuckin masterpieces of cinema. No, if I watch this cunting film then I'll have to bring the old man back out and force him on these shit kickers (and he's been so well hidden for sooo long) and we wouldn't want that to happen.
-
The original Day of the Dead sucked huge monkey balls. It was terribly written, terribly acted, and terribly shot. I don't think they are sullying any great memories of the original with this garbage, since the original sucked so much anyways. However, I still don't think they should call this Day of the Dead if they are not going to set it in the same timeline/continuity/universe as the Dawn remake. Which, as far as I can tell from that nonsensical trailer, it isn't.
-
No lube just pain fucker. Oh but your a retard anyway so that won't matter. A Slow COCK DEATH is the only thing for you Boy.
-
HAHA! DIRECT-TO-VIDEO.
-
It was Sci-Fi Channel quality, I don't think even Troma would touch this movie even with name actors in it.
-
Unlike some, I REALLY enjoyed the "Dawn of the Dead" remake and was looking forward to a new "Day" but this trailer was vastly underwhelming. If anything, it looks like direct-to-DVD trash, just being a notch better than those awful "Return of the Living Dead" sequels (4 & 5) that went directly to the Sci-Fi channel. I have never been impressed with the director's previous work and so far, "Day" won't be improving his cred. I also hope that music they used is a temp score and not the final work to be used in the film itself. This remake (if you can call it that, I'm having a hard time connecting it to the original at all at this point. Hell, even the "Dawn" remake was set in a mall) will have quite a large hill to climb to even be as remotely enjoyable as the "Dawn" remake.

...original Night of the Living Dead? Remember that first zombie Barbara encounters in the graveyard? The fucker is running. So take your "zombies don't run" bullshit and sell it to the tourists. Romero himself made that one (and a few of the others shown in that, his last good film) run just fine. And, yeah, you read that parenthetical right. Romero's only good zombie flick was the original Night. The others were ham-fisted political allegory without an ounce of subtlety or actual fear involved (much less characters anyone without a THC count through the roof could relate to). Just extra gory nod/winks at the too-stoned-to-notice-the-diminishing-returns audience. NOTLD managed to make much more relevant social commentary on a much more effective and subtle level without sacrificing the tension or the horror. The Dawn remake was a far superior horror film to the original Dawn and made essentially the same social commentary (ultimate consumers flock to the ultimate temple of consumerism as the world as we know it comes to an end). But here was a neat trick: it managed to be entertaining as well. For those of you rating Romero's Dawn and Day so highly explicitly for the gore factor, you must've loved that fetid piece of shit he served up in Land. Of course the zombies couldn't run in that one (cause George thought that was a travesty except for when he did it). But then, nothing went anywhere at any kind of pace in that film. But the zombies could think. That was cool, huh? Saved the viewers the trouble (skyflowers...that was just a downright half-assed attempt at symbolism, George). And the gore, man! Oh, the gore! No accounting for taste, I guess. But zombies have been running since the opening of NOTLD. Deal with it.
-
Link's down. Somebody help me.
-
"I'm in hell."
-
...better looking stool than the original Day of the Dead. In fact, my stool looks, and smells, better than anyone who LIKED the first Day of the Dead. Fucking link up top is broken so I can't see how shitty the remake sounds...
-
Has anyone else heard of the supposed remake of "Hellraiser"? WTF?!
-
Look kids, it's not hard. If your post doesn't show up immediately, that means it has been "cached". According to Moriarty, they are still working out some "bugs" with the site's "revamp". There will be hiccups and delays and some things will take awhile to post. So, RELAX. Learn it. Live it. Love it.
-
The story for Day Of The Dead was originally supposed to be the doctors wild idea to train zombies to attack other zombies. The culmination was a big ass zombie army fight. It was cut back for budget reasons, somehow leaving behind one of my all time favorite movies.
Why the frak not just do that movie instead of just rehashing the story of Bub? There is a lot more story here, and more stories about the inevitable fall of mankind to the brainless shambling hordes. I'm seeing ships stuck in the middle of a bay who can't come ashore. Thing-style shit up in the artic. Wild eyed bushkashi playin' Afghans. WHY DO A REMAKE?
-
on the military industrial complex, and man's inhumanity to man....this is gonna be the oc meets the zombies...this is shite...this is a video game with bad humor and way too good looking actors.
No it wasn't. It was a story about watching shit crumble. -
..are fucking retarded. Wow, what a fucking threat. They walk slow and stink. Unless you're Stephen Hawkings, and your nurse is dead, you'd be hard pressed to get away from those mall walking undead...the DotD remake cleaned up things nicely. Fast moving, and finally a threat (well, 28 days later too). Fuck Romero right in his zombied monkey ass.
-
I am a hardcore Romero zombie fan, having seen all but the original in the theater and loving them. The Dawn remake was an instant classic. It set the bar for any future zombie flicks higher than anything Romero has done to date. I can only hope the new Day can live up to the new Dawn's level of quality. Being able to actually see this new trailer would be nice.
-
well done
-
tompbeast.
-
Ugh, this sounds bad... I can't view that video though.
Oh yeah, and Frankenfish >>> Mansquito, even though they both blow. -
to see what kind of threat a slow zombie has. Which is to say, huge and world altering. Its not their speed that makes em scary, or their attacks, but the fact that as long as there are people around, there can be zombies, and the more zombies there are, the more you are fucked. and the first zombie in NotLD is not running. Watch your DVD again.
-
The naysayers of the DotD remake can "lick-balls". Shaun of the Dead addressed the slow moving zombies nicely. The living eventually (once the original shock wore off) conquered the dead quite easily and put 'em to work. As far as this "sequel" is concerned, if it's not a real sequel to the DotD remake, it'll be a piece o' shite. Of course you dweebs will still contribute to the $22 million it will do the first weekend out. Now excuse me whilst I rewatch my UNRATED version of DotD (remake), complete with doggie style f*%*ing, legless monkey-bar swinging zombies, exploding propane tanks, baby zombies, zombie heads in coolers, hella funny security guards, and the infamous Zombie Celebrity Look-Alike contest. You jag-offs that keep slagging this flick need to get yer heads examined. You can't buy this kind of fun.
-
Someone up there mentioned it. I read about it on Fangoria's website while I was reading about the Chainsaw Awards (FUCK YOU FOR SNUBBING 'HARD CANDY' AND ELLEN PAGE). Clive Barker himself is going to do it so I'm definitly interested.
-
now stop whining
-
NOW STOP WHINING!
-
Oh God no, please no. There is nothing wrong with the original version. At least "I am Legend" is going to improve upon The Omega Man by giving us the real story from the book.
-
Go to comingsoon.net, its on there.
-
Everytime a TBer double posts a fairy dies! Also I wish AICN could get their act together, I don't think more that 25% of their links work. It's very annoying and quite unprofessional. Is it me or do the sponsor links all work fine, just not the ones that link to, you know, cool news? :-(
-
Has anyone even read "Walkind Dead"? I know it's wrong, but you can bit-torrent it. It's really worth the read, and would make a great series of films. Almost like, a trilogy or something.
-
How about that as a movie? Oh, right, that's a GOOD idea. sorry for mentioning the elephant in the room, Hollywood.
-
Because of the numbers. There is nothing more terrifying than the "Aw Fuck!!!" moments in the old Romero movies where after shooting countless slow retard zombies they get careless, cocky, or just plain outnumbered and can't do anything about it. When a hero gets offed by slow zombies it hurts more because he had a chance. But 40 terror crazed speedy inhuman nutjobs tearing after one guy? He's toast, no suspense. I did love the Dawn remake, and 28 Days Later for the record.
-
George A. Romero himself said that "Day of the Dead" was his favourite of the series. And I agree with him. There seems to be a cult of 'Dawn' fans (the original) who hate 'Day', but I honestly think 'Dawn' (the original) is the cheesy one.
Whereas 'Day of the Dead' was downright morbid and genuinely fucking horrible. In a good way. I hope the remake doesn't suck. -
slow moving zombies are always more frightening, not because one slow-moving zombie can pose much of a threat, but because there are always a thousand of the lumbering buggers.
-
sort out your faulty website, it's like my gran just learnt some HTML
-
is he playing a twin brother of the ving we saw in dawn of the dead remake? he was talking about his brother in "dawn" from what i recall
-
then I'm all for it. He'll either make it more like his original The Hellbound Heart or something new, either way he'll have the budget to do what he wants.
-
is he playing a twin brother of the ving we saw in dawn of the dead remake? he was talking about his brother in "dawn" from what i recall...if so...and if this character survives...maybe they'll meet up in a future sequel on the island that is free from zombies... until the zombies that walk under the water in land of the dead find them....bwahawha
-

-
I guess you missed all the past news and bits of information about the production. It's not going to be ANYTHING like the original book!
-
I concede..
-
Everybody's 19 years old, just what "Day of the Dead" needed. This makes me angry!!!
In other news, why is the talkback flooded with retards? -
This looks more like a Return of the Living Dead remake than a Day remake. And it doesn't even look like a Return remake. It looks like a cheap grab for cash.
-
I can not see the trailer! WHere is it? Can anyone help me before I eat my hand?
-
Salute my ass!".The link didn't work for me.I will watch this film though I don't need a virus type explanation. One day all hell broke lose,it might of been a Venus probe(oh er) and thats that is always good enough for me in a Zombie type situation.I hope Ving survives again for a Vam Damme style team up in Part 3.
-
I honestly thought they were going to make one of the best horror books of all time into the film it should be. Oh crap, nothing is safe anymore. They better not tarnish that book for the sake of $$$$$. **** On Hellraiser the remake, if Barker is doing it then thats fine. Just keep the likes of Michael Bay well away from it. Someone take him hostage during that time.
-
"If Barker wants to remake Hellraiser...he'll have the budget to do what he wants". Sorry but bigger budget doesn't mean a better film, I would much rather see a zero budget original horror film with some fresh ideas than a multi million heartless remake made to cash in on a franchise. Speaking of which the Day of the dead remake looks f***ing awful, I wouldn't mind a proper sequel to the Dawn of the dead remake but this looks truly terrible. Expect to see this on bargain DVD next June folks!
-
Is this for real? It's beyond words bad...It's like if USA Network and NBC made a virus movie.
-
"is he playing a twin brother of the ving we saw in dawn of the dead remake? he was talking about his brother in "dawn" from what i recall...if so...and if this character survives...maybe they'll meet up in a future sequel on the island that is free from zombies... until the zombies that walk under the water in land of the dead find them....bwahawha"
Just got home and read the threads...I had been wondering this ever since hearing about Ving being in the Day remake...however on the website for the link his name isn't listed as a star, so I am guessing it is a bit part?
In any case, I always thought that could be a cool view to take...following his brother, because indeed you could have them meet up (with movie luck)...imagine one Ving having to put a round into his brother from the other film :P.
However, with what I have seen of the video....I am worried. I am not ready to write this off as a loss, but Nick Cannon does not exactly appeal to my zombie flick tastes...unless of course he is the first person to die by a gruesome zombie attack.
Likewise, it does have a sci-fi movie of the week vibe going for it. I think it is because of scope...from what I saw of the trailer (75% before it died), there was never more than 3 zombies in a scene, whereas in Dawn there was most always a massive crowd when there was an attack. Having one or two zombies per attack really does scream "sci-fi channel budget".
Who knows, maybe it will be good...(crosses fingers).

(Extra: For any SG1 folks out there, is the civilian kid with curly hair the same guy that played the teenage clone of O'Neill?"
-
A bigger budget doesn't mean it's going to be better but if the guy who wrote and directed the first one says the final product wasn't what he wanted because he made it with under a million, then I'd like to see what he has in mind.
-
I had to sign up to say something bout this shit, has anyone who had anything to do with this film ever even heard anything other than the title of the orginal?! i had to say, i enjoyed the remake of dawn, but this just seems like a pointless, piece of shit cash-in, like the recent (and fucking awlful texas chainsaw "prequal"). evryone involved with this needs a slap, even the usually quality Vingh Rhames.
-
... eaten by zombies while I was away, only to be replaced with a thousand tombeast-esque fucktards. One surely imagines so, reading this shitheap. Frankly, I think this steaming pile of dogshit remake sound PERFECT for some of the mutts posting on AICN these days. Choke on em indeed, knuckleheads.
-
and I want to know what the FUCK you're doing with my time?....Joe Polito Rules....Give Romero World War Z to adapt into a 100 million dollar NC-17 splatter fest. That book is original, frightening, and politically relevant like the Romero films were/are.

you like my 2 vings idea, eh? we should write a movie the way we want to see it, methinks...then sell it and make millions

The Zombie helming "Halloween" has me the most curious.
by darthbinks1220
On the 25 Years of Terror DVD, he sounds like he really knows this franchise-- the good(1), and the bad(2-8). At least the Akkads made an inspired choice. Rob will have to show more range in making a largely bloodless affair. I'm not expecting an equal of the Carpenter masterpiece, but a fresh take that's truly scary. At least, that's what Mr. Zombie promises.
-
damn you Day of the Dead!
-
I know the original gets a lot of flack, but lemme just say that despite the naysayers, I love it. It was the first movie that genuinely scared the shit out of me, and in my opinion no zombie movie before or since has had such realistic carnage. I LOVED the characters, I loved Bub, I loved the music (and apparently so did Gorillaz), and I loved "I'm running this monkey farm, Frankenstein!" I LOVED "Choke on 'em!". The original has MUCH to love... not the least is the amazing theme and mood it sets. Ultimately I prefer the original Dawn of the Dead (liked the remake, for the most part) but I absolutely love Day of the Dead to death. The direct-to-video sequel shit and now this do nothing but taint the name and will undoubtedly anger the fan base. Just rerelease the original... gore-wise nothing has touched it since.
-
"I'm running this monkey farm, Frankenstein!!"
-
take on the army than this crapfest! Best part of Dawn remake was the Richard Cheese elevator music!
-
Or that it's a piece of shit?
-
The only thing making me cry is not being able to see the damn trailer!!
-
All you haters are just sad, bitter old men who can't watch anything made after 1988. I liked the original, too, and while there are valid reasons for preferring it (they are, after all, totally different and both good), I actually like the "remake" better. It's not a zombie movie, though - it's a disaster movie. The disaster just happens to be zombies, and I like that that's how it was handled.
-
the more sublime MANSQUITO."
oh get ahold of yourself man. : / -
you guys, i think you're all overreacting a bit. from what i remember, i think this is just another shitty direct-to-video movie by those dumbasses at "taurus entertainment" or whoever it was that made the "Day of the Dead 2" a while back. There's NO way that this is actually going to be released in theaters. Or at least that's what the rational part of my brain tells me. Did you SEE that trailer? I'd be surprised if this garbage made it to SCI FI MATINEE before it hit DVD.
If anything, i'm bummed out because this piece of garbage has now taken the name "day of the dead" for a remake, and the chances for a real, good one are probably squashed. If this turns out to be a real, theatrically-released movie, i'm going to take it as a personal insult. I will be personally offended by the shittiness of this movie, even while i spend my time not seeing it.
The blond girl suspiciously looks a LOT like the blond from the dawn remake. I think it's intentional. Because the filmmak.. no, the retards that made this movie are probably grasping at anything they can that resembles credibility. So they are trying to link it to the skillfully made dawn remake. That probably explains ving rhames being in this one as well. I doubt the two movies are even narrowly related in reality.
SHAME ON YOU, VING. SHAME ON YOU, HARD. YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER. -
go to the IMDB page of this movie. What the?!?! VING RHAMES' CHARACTER IS --- ARE YOU READY FOR THIS? -- GET READY -- CAPTAIN RHODES. WHAT THE HELL?? So they're going to make the --THIRD-- movie in the trilogy feature the beginning of the outbreak (?!?!), completely disregard ANY links to the original movie other than 1.zombies 2.military 3.a "military bunk", but still have the audacity to give the characters the same names? LOOK AT DR. LOGAN. WHAT THE?!?! They can't be serious.
-
For once I agree with Childe Roland (see well above). Romero made one good movie a long time ago. Land of the Dead? Please, bitch. Social commentary: let the zombies take over and let the masses deal with it, we're hightailin' it to Canada and the last operating Tim Horton's. Ooo, that's deep.
-
Care to add anything to that thought?
-
Sucks my fuckin cock please somebody go find the one responsible for it and slap them in the mouth with your dick
-
I know, I know....he's moved on to much greener pastures. I'm just saying it would be nice.
-
What an awful trailer. Was that for real or just a bunch of scenes cut together?

...and fucking-A that first zombie is RUNNING. He may not be doing a track sprint, but he sure as fuck isn't shambling a walk after Barbara. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the huge, slow moving mass of undead that occupies most of the film. It sets a mood of creeping terror that Romero was never able to recapture again. But he had at least one runner in there (and a few fast movers throughout). You should watch again and look closely. You'll realize how ridiculous the "zombies never ran before 28 Days Later" argument is.
-
SO just because there's a ton of the slow moving undead, that's what's scary? Go to Florida in the winter, there's millions of the blue-haired undead, and the only threat those slow movers pose is if they get behind the wheel. SO unless slow moving Zombies can drive, shut the fuck up about em, cause they ain't scary!!
-
Great film, but give most of the credit to Day of the Triffids, where 28 days borrowed much of it's theme and story...
-
at the box office, which makes me wonder why the hell they're not cashing in on that success. Please change the name before this thing is released.
-
I didn't see it as a kid so I have no nostalgia attached to it...just watched it for the first time a few years ago and it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. This movie was sub-Troma in production value and acting. The guy who played the stereotypical headstrong military guy was such a fucking douchebag I considered tracking down the actor to punch him in the cock just for existing. The 'smart' zombie was mildly entertaining but aside from that Day of the Dead is nigh unwatchable. So if the Day of the Dead remake is nothing like the original, then kudos to the guy who made it, because it can't possibly be worse. We all like to pretend George Romero was a good horror filmmaker because he created the genre, but really, he's terrible. NotLD was great, but it's like he took a headwound shortly after it and directed the rest of his movies with his mittens pinned to his jacket. Land of the Dead was wretched, a truly offensive movie. The problem is they all have great potential, but he squanders them with terrible inane plots. WHen they first announced Land of the Dead was being made, a movie about that retarded mexican guy stealing a tank and threatening to shoot rockets into it is pretty much the very last thing I would ever have considered it being about. Why even make the fucking movie if you're going to make it about *that*?
-
and I hate to do that, but it seems that this movie does nothing to firther the story or genre any further. It looks bland, looks dull. If Ving Rhames is in it as the same character, then why is he surprised that the people are turning? and if he isn't then why is he there at all? The twin brother of the other guy? That'd be dumb. whatever. Lets see something fresh in this genre. It's starting to stink of rotten meat.
-
"search engine's being mighty...goosey"
-
Glad to see it has its fans, and it definitely has a cult following. This is embarrassing, however. Richard Rubinstein is nothing but money-grubbing fuckface, and here is the evidence. I hope this is straight-to-video because I can't take it any more.
-
Interesting to note that the names on here who harp on about fast-moving zombies being much better, are the same people who have repeatedly promoted the Dawn of the Dead remake since its launch. Hmmm. Could it be that the team behind the Dawn of the Dead remake are STILL posting on here, trying hard to convince us all that Romero, Fulci, Argento etc got it wrong for all those years? Please.
-
I have to say I did almost cry. Why indeed didn't they just make this movie and call it something new like 'Scary Zombie 2'? Why, oh why. My God, they've used up the title 'Day of the Dead'. What a fucking waste.
-
Stop using teenagers as your main characters. That's your first mistake right there.
-
Why don't all you Dawn remake plants (Agent Sith etc) just leave it be? Come on, what's the point? You're trying to tell me the Dawn remake was better than the original Day of the Dead? HAHA
-
right? dead.. no more trailer... or am I irrevocably stupid.
Mind you, it might be a little from column A, a little from column B... -
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PB7bepFqDbI
Yes, it looks bad. "It's a bad day to be a zombie." Ugh. -
I'm telling you, that's the happy medium. Imagine the horror of running from you life from fat unathletic zombies that lurch quickly for a while and then tire out. It would have a similar social message as Super-size me.
-
My question is why?!?!?!? What purpose does it serve. Day was the weakest of Romero's. Okk they got lucky remaking Dawn, but this carp looks like it should be str8 to DVD. Rhames better be getting like 20 mil for this because he should know better!
-
wtf are they doing to zombies in movies these days... Looks like another land of the dead
-
WTF are you all complaining about? For two days I've been reading about how it sucks in every way imaginable and now I see it and it's only mildly annoying...because it looks nothing like the orginal in a bunker underground, and because too many annoying teenagers. But other than that, WTF are you all so friggin upset over??? The trailer looked okay. Hopefully the movie will be better. Open your minds and maybe you will see something good once in awhile.
-
'Day of the Dead' it certainly aint. That's why we're pissed off. 'Teenagers and a couple of other guys running around with some actors in scary makeup going "RAAAR"' would be a better title. We're pissed off because 'Day of the Dead' was actually a great, morbid, bleak, claustrophobic movie. Not a teen-scream piece of silliness like this.
-
1. Goblin didn't do the music for 'Day of the Dead', it was written by John Harrison. Check that you're talking about the right movie before you start mouthing off, asshat.
2. The 'Dawn of the Dead' remake was an OK film in the sense of it being a nice modern action/horror, BUT IT ACHIEVED ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THE IMPENDING DREAD OR MORBID CLAUSTROPHOBIC HOPELESSNESS of the original Dawn of the Dead. That was why those late 70's and early 80's movies were better. They got the pacing right, they were very, very tense films, and the overwhelming odds were stacked against the main heroes in those films. Unlike today's versions where it's all about pleasing the Ritalin Generation with heavy weaponry and smartass catchphrases. The Dawn remake was just another slick action movie, like a fucking Bruce Willis flick or something. It will never be a cult film. None of these modern films will be cult films. Never. They just don't get it right, because they're trying to appeal to a mass-market of teenage idiots with the attention span of a fucking goldfish. And a lot of people reading this know exactly what I'm talking about. -
The original Day of the Dead is a piece of shit that people have a death grip on simply because they have nostalgia leaking from their gaping asses. Fuck Romero the hack (wan't proof? LOTD is a fucking travesty), and fuck the original Day of the Dead.As for the original Dawn of the Dead versus the remake, and the remake's supposed lack of "dread"...The original had a sense of doom because it was the fucking 70's and people thought that they not only had to deal with hordes of Zombies, but another decade of shit fashions and chicks with bushes that started mid-chest.
-
..Fuck the "Golden Oldie" generation too and their refusal to enjoy anything after 1982. Oh and fuck cult movies, because "cult movie" is usually Latin for "Piece of shit that only dicknecks like"...But there are always exceptions to that rule.
-
NightArrows gracefully steps up and proves my point for me. What a fucking moron. I thank you, sir.
-
P.s. NightArse, which zombie were you in the 'Dawn' remake? Third goth from the left?
-
That's it? That's all you have? Of course I'm sure you're used to hearing that from whatever dredge you managed to pay for sex. I'd be willing to pony up the cash to have you, and your VHS copy of Day of the Dead legally married. I'm sure you've already had carnal knowledge of said tape, so the wedding would only be a formality.Choke off and die pig knuckles.P.S. No, I was the one in the crowd with the big sign that said "Ray Gamma fists hamsters"...fucko.
-
*applause*

Gawd. Remember his stupid "don't abort me" song? His ass should be shot based on that alone.
