Join the fight to resurrect "Star Trek: Secret of Vulcan Fury" !!!

Published at:  Feb 11, 1999 7:59:39 AM CST

Glen here...

...with a fast bit of news regarding a topic previously discussed on Coaxial.

Long time readers may recall Coaxial's extensive coverage of Interplay's now defunct game,
Star Trek: The Secret of Vulcan Fury. The back story on this is really too long to go into
again, but if you've any interest in Star Trek...or computer gaming in general...I strongly
advise you check out what happened to this project by HREF="http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=2459"> CLICKING HERE!

At the time of this coverage, SOVF's fate really pissed off a lot of fans. 'Tis a story of
injustice, mismanagement, and a perfect example of "the way of things" in the often trying gaming
industry.

Well, The Secret of Vulcan Fury has not been forgotten. Seems there is currently a
pointed effort underway to press Interplay towards finishing the game that it started developing,
towards fulfilling the commitment to people who gave two years of their lives to this project before
it's cancellation - and to the fans who were eagerly awaiting (and profoundly disappointed by) the
title's termination.

    I don't know about this

    by lord_darth

Well it seems to me if they do try and finish this game it will just be a rush to game perspective. And the game would be hurt in the long run. Im really dissatisfied with most of the Trek Games to date and this was at 1 time looking like a real masterpiece. Just please no more games that abuse the Trek name.

    "Vulcans Forge" the book SUCKED!

    by garu

I don't know about this computer game, but I hope it's not related to "Vulcans Forge", the novel published by Simon & Schuster. That book SUCKED BIG TIME! I believe I read that the talentless authors behind this rotten book are writing a follow up called "Vulcan's Fury", which will probably be just as bad, if not worse.

    fury? Vulcan has horses?

    by anotherthief

...just a stupid little joke. Ok: The script is NOT written by Simon, SChuster or both ;) And Glen...not "A gamesite" - it's THE gamesite. The mother of all online mags. The first of it's kind!

    Vulcan's Fury, not Forge

    by 4q2

Don't panic. The game did not in any way deal with the Vulcan's Forge novel, and the news that a Vulcan Fury novel written by the same authors is pure rumor. IF there were to be a Vulcan Fury novel, it would undoubtedly be written by DC Fontana (the author of the Fury concept). I hope all who see this message take a moment to add their names to the petition. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to finish working on this game.

    Wanna Help?

    by ynrohkeeg

I'm starting a campaign to help save Secret of Vulcan Fury from cancellation. After only a few hours, I've already gotten seven responses. I'm hoping that, with enough people, we can convince Interplay that completing this game would be in their best interest. Please visit my site if you're interested!
