Mac is back but Veronica’s convertible is gone. Wallace, like Mac and Dick, is living on campus at Hearst College, and has a guitarist roommate from Oregon. Francis Capra is still in the (slightly more melancholy) title credits, but you won’t see incarcerated gangster Eli “Weevil” Navarro in the first or second episodes. Lilly Kane is referenced, but does not appear. There’s more than one cliffhanger and a lot of surprises. One assumes most “Veronica Mars” fans know that the superb first episode of its third season went online Tuesday, well in advance of its official Oct. 3 debut on The CW.
