apple.com has posted the new, full-length trailer for Mel Gibson's APOCALYPTO. I had a whole slew of mean spirited, rather obvious Mel Gibson jokes lined up for this one...but...you know...I'm gonna leave it alone.
I'll admit that, when I first heard about this film, I was a little skeptical: there were so many things that could go wrong with it, in so many ways. The original teaser...got my attention. It looked promising, although it didn't knock me out of my seat.
But this? This is pretty damn cool...portending a film of tremendous physical detail and visual energy. I love the look and texture of the photography -- very distinctive. Highly atmospheric and evocative, but not over the top.
As the son of a Cultural Anthropologist, I'm so ready for (and impatiently awaiting) some angst-ridden-dying-society introspect -- and ultra-violent running through the forest half naked!
