Avi W tells us of THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY

Hey folks, Harry here - seems Comedy is the film du jour at Toronto this year. This time it's director Micael Ian Black with Jason Biggs... that pie fucker fella. Here ya go...

Hi Harry, I'm a long time reader, first time writer. At the Toronto International Film Festival last night, I had the opportunity to see the world premiere of the Michael Ian Black directed "The Pleasure of Your Company", starring Jason Biggs (the pie guy) and Isla Fisher (of Wedding Crashers fame). It was great! The audience was buzzing from the start, since castmembers and the director were in the house, but after screening the (very snapping looking) digital 'print', the audience erupted into genuine applause. In fact, the entire movie had everyone busting a gut throughout. It wasn't 'rolling in the aisles' funny, but the laughs were awesome and often. POYC stars Biggs as Andersen, a socially inept schlub that has yet to get over the abrupt death of his girlfriend. You see, Andersen proposed to her in an uncoventional way, and the shock killed her. Kinda sucks, since she is played by the super hot Audra Blaser. A year goes by, and Andersen's best friend, Ted (Michael Weston - Garden State's Kenny), goads his buddy into socializing with women. Andersen opts to ask out the first woman he sees - and it is the adorable waitress, Katie, played by Isla Fisher. And that's when things get really wacky. You see, he doesn't just ask her out - he proposes to her. She says yes. OK, so it doesn't sound that spectacular on paper/monitor, but once you see it, you'll really take a shine to it. It's well written, has some great comedic acting, and Joe Pantoliano's convict character is bloody hilarious. There are a lot of laughs packed into these 90 minutes, so once it hits theatres (Yes, that's how we spell 'threaters' in Canada), you should think about giving the flick a chance. And Rob Corrdry is in it. In other news, an audience member at the Q & A asked Biggs if he felt nervous on set, since there is a scene in the film which contains a pie... Biggs responded by saying 'No, I wasn't worried about it. Wanna know why? (pause) Because it feels goooood!' He then looked down at his co-star, the seven year old (I'm guessing) Regan Mizrahi, and smiled sheepishly. If you use this, call me Avi W. P.S. - I photographed Biggs, Zach Braff, Kevin Costner, Lance Bass, and a Miss USA model! All you slackers should get your asses to Toronto, STAT! This place is oozing stars.
