Merrick here...
Early last month, Brett Ratner did an interview with MTV regarding BEVERLY HILLS COP 4.
A particular quote in the interview lead many to the logical conclusion that the new BHC project would have a considerably softer tone/rating than its predecessors.
When asked what is biggest challenge would be, Ratner seemed to indicate that his new film would be geared towards a very PG audience.

Germans have always brought the planet a bunch of grief, but, by and large, they've been good for Hollywood. F.W. Murnau, Ernst Lubitsch, Wim Wenders, Roland Emmerich, Jörg Buttgereit... giants all! So what's with this Jan Jürgen fella, and why's he making trouble when there's hundreds of millions of dollars being poured into the most important Vietnam film since PLATOON LEADER?

Beaks here...
Update: Nikki Finke is reporting that Tarantino is courting Brad Pitt to star in INGLORIOUS BASTARDS! She's also revealed which studios are being targeted: Universal, Sony, Warner Brothers, Paramount and Cannon.
BTW, I've received one script today and it wasn't INGLORIOUS BASTARDS. Let's do something about that, studio assistants. Fuck your job, I need to read this shit.

Hey folks, Harry here – just got back from Minneapolis’s fantastic fan convention, CONVERGENCE and gosh – talk about re-energizing the geek batteries – that place is only 100 times cooler than San Diego’s COMIC CON. Sure – it doesn’t have an astonishing dealer’s room – nor the high end treatment from Hollywood – but what it is, is a convention that is run by fans for fans that is a party and an exploration of all things geek. I loved it.

If you haven't read Art Linson's brutally honest WHAT JUST HAPPENED?, I'd recommend that you breeze through it between now and the fall (it's a quick 206 pages) because I'm worried that Barry Levinson's feature adaptation of the Hollywood tell-all (scripted by Linson, and due out October 3rd) won't work quite as well with self-parodying stars like Bruce Willis stepping in for, say, a highly volatile Alec Baldwin.

Most of the names below have received a confirmation e-mail from me letting you know you've won. All I can say is arrive early; this baby is going to be crowded. See you there.

Merrick here...
Futon Critic has a spoileriffic write-up about the script for Fox's VIRTUALITY, written by Michael Taylor (a producer/writer on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and THE DEAD ZONE, and writer on STAR TREKs VOYAGER and DEEP SPACE NINE). The script is based on a story by Taylor and Ron Moore.
This is a backdoor pilot being developed by Moore & Co.; it'll be directed by Peter Berg (HANCOCK - yeah!!!, and soon DUNE).
