It's PAYBACK time!!!
FATHER GEEK here has been following this project since its PARKER days I've read both scripts and I've had a workprint since the Spring. I love everything I've seen on this remake of one of my faves POINT BLANK. Can't wait!!!
I just got back from a screening of Payback in DC tonight, and thought
that I would shoot out this review. I have read about all the changes
that Mel Gibson made from the original dir's view, and how this had
changed the movie. Well my first thought about this movie is that it
rocks. This was a great popcorn movie and I loved it, along with
everyone else in the audience. Now I know that you have gone over the
plot of the movie before, so I will not get into it. However the chick
from Ally McBeal, I think her name is Lucy? steals the scenes that she
is in. I thought Mel's character was just as cool as George Clooney's in
Out of Sight. Both of the characters have this extreme sense of
themselves, and that shows on the screen. What I mean is that both of
them know exactly what they are capable of, and that's what makes Mel
seem so hardcore in the film. Damn, he is ruthless in it, but everyone
in the audience was ohhing and ahhing when he goes about his business of
getting his money back. I think that Mel has a winner on his hands, but
I can't compare it to what was originally done.
