..with a quick heads up regarding a great deal on the Armageddon DVD, which hits stores today (January 5).

There may be better deals to be found when purchasing this title, but the best price I have personally come across was found at...of all places...CompUSA, which had the title on-sale for $14.99.

Armageddon is a $24.99 DVD, so the CompUSA price equates to a savings of roughly ten dollars. Locally, Best Buy, et all do not have Armageddon listed as part of their traditional mark down. So even there, you will be paying full price to purchase the movie.

So, if you were thinking about picking up this very controversial space adventure...or if the title is one of those "I wouldn't mind having it but I don't wanna pay full price for it" kind of movies...consider calling up (or going straight to ) your local CompUSA to pick it this DVD. It comes with a few extras (teaser trailer, theatrical trailer, Aerosmith music video), and is presented in 2:35:1 widescreen with an eye popping transfer which comes perilously close to looking so good it's visual texture feels artificial and unnatural.

A word of warning, some CompUSAs may have the Armageddon DVD under lock and key, because they didn't want it being distributed early by mistake (they have had a lot of people asking about it). There was a group of about five people waiting to purchase the title when the store first opened this morning, and we had to make them go in the back (where it was being kept safe from premature distribution) to get it. So if you don't see it on the shelves, be pushy and make 'em look.
