"Batman Beyond" intro now on-line !!!

A clip identified as the "intro" to WB's forthcoming revamp of the animated Batman
franchise (this time it's called Batman Beyond) is now on-line at HREF="http://www.batman-beyond.com">http://www.batman-beyond.com.
Presumably, this is the series' opening title sequence. It features schitzofrentic editing slightly
similar to the title sequences of the Spawn movie, Seven, or Millennium
(with descriptive words inter-cut with the fast-paced images), and a hard-driving propulsive rock
theme.
I've had a tough time with this download - the play-back seems to freeze roughly half-way
through the presentation, and I've not been able to actually save its QuickTime file in my system
(probably by design?). None the less, I thought this could be of interest to those whose systems
aren't recovering from a recent crash, as mine still is.
I really do look forward to learning people's opinions regarding this new approach to
Batman. You certainly can't judge everything from a title sequence, but you can sure get a
sense of The Bat's newly re-defined sensibilities from this clip. So, be sure to utilize the Talkbacks
below if you'd like to voice your thoughts and ideas about the title sequence for Batman
Beyond.
Enjoy!!!

The video stalled in the middle when I played it too (the file is probably corrupted), but I've been able to save it on my hard disk : there's an arrow pointing downward besides the forward button when it's playing. You just got to click on it and it allows you to save it.

All it took was a little digging in the JavaScript...

I found that if I stopped the QT form playing I was able to down load it to my hard drive. When I played it the QT froze Then after a bit of time comtinued to play. The QT is corrupt.

This new show looks to be one kick ass cartoon. I was able to watch the whole intro by moving that little bar past the point the video freezes, once you do that you should be fine.
BTW, does anyone know what this cartoon is going to be rated. From the looks of just the opening credits, it should be at least rated PG, because it has a dark violent feel to it, something that children shouldn't be watching. -
Forgot to mention one thing...but I already mentioned it in the Subject.
What does everyone else think about this Batman's new look? -
There are some shots in the intro
where Batman looks a heckuva lot
like a cross between Batman and
the new Catwoman design - the shot
where he has his claws out makes
him look like he could be either
one of them, actually, especially
with those ears and no cape. I thought I'd hate the design when I first heard about it - sounded
like one of those lame "Night Batman With Glo-in-the-Dark Camoflouge" or "Safety-Orange Open Season Batman" figures, but he comes off looking very sleek and cool to me. At least he has wings of sorts hidden under his arms, like the old-school Spiderman had webbing.
Without his mask, I thought he looked a little too much like the hero of Invasion America, though much, much better drawn. The two shots of Bruce Wayne's craggy face look like they are both done in CGI, due to the amounts of subtle lighting playing across the surface - looks neat.
The rest of the intro itself comes across as a very weird, industrialized, and very, very mean James Bond intro - I love it! I'd read (I think in Batman Animated) that this show was intended to be for a younger crowd - I'm relieved that Dini and company were able to subvert these original intentions on the part of the studio to create what (seems to be) an even darker and more violent series than ever. Wheeee!

That intro was the best intro I have seen for any animated show. It looked incredible. I am a bit concerned about the content though. It seems veny dark and violent, too violent for saturday mornngs or whenever they plan on putting it on. I remember hearing that it was intended for a younger audience than the current aninated Batman. If this is not the case than we are in store for an incredible show (any thing with the 'seven-esque' words in the intro is worth watching) It had everything from freaky lettering to dancing girls. (Definately not the ususal saturday morning crap) I am looking forward to this series, does anyone know an exact release date?

I don't need to tell that to anyone who isn't deluding themselves. The main problem is that there has never been any competition in this country to do TV animation skillfully. The kiddies don't give a crap, so why bother? It's not like they have _good_ animation to compare against. Another problem is that any truly talented animator in this country more than likely works for a studio that makes movies only. WB animation does not, and it's obvious; throw real money at them, and you get a piece of feces called The King and I.
I'm uncertain what this "revamping" entails, but probably the best thing they could "revamp" would be the animation coordination. In the good ol' Hanna-Barbarian days of the 60's, the usual thing was to spare a few extra cels of animation whenever someone was talking so that their head would shift up and down and up and down (now that you've read this, you'll never be able to watch Scooby Doo or any other HB series again without noticing it). These days, instead of the head doing this, the whole body pitches. Forward, back, straight. Back, forward, straight. Watch and see. It's a cheap, cheap thing done by people who don't care a bit about quality so much as getting the episode out the door. (Though I'm willing to admit that WB doesn't do this quite so often as, say, whatever hellspawn organization animates Rugrats).

Warner Bros. animation sucks?
Okay, I'll give the movies to you, but I'll also say that Anastasia and Quest for Camelot were suffering long before an animator ever put pen to paper. It's in the script.
But c'mon. Warner Bros. television division has brought us some of televisions best animated products ever. Batman The Animated Series Superman and the current Batman series are wonderful.
Further, WB brought us the highly acclaimed Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs (and spin offs), and Freakazoid.
As for The Rugrats, while not a fan, they do come from the Clasky Csupo, where the Simpsons is animated.
I can only assume you weren't serious and were just being an asshole. -
I disagree sharply with the poster who criticized WB's television animation.
In point of fact, WBA has had an excellent track record over the last decade, with a number of its shows winning Emmy Awards (probably a far greater spread than other studios, between Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, BTAS, Freakazoid and Superman), a Peabody Award, and numerous awards for writing and voice acting.
The problem is that Warner Bros. management regularly drops the ball on how to handle animation -- a problem that was as bad, if not worse, in the days when Jones, Freleng, McKimson & Co. were directing cartoons. The Kids' WB network in particular is dreadful in its (lack of) marketing ability and woefully inconsistent approaching to marketing and scheduling.
I've had the privilege of dealing with a number of WBA personnel, and given the resources they work with, I know they truly care about their product and strive to be the best. And very often, they are.
I just wish Time Warner knew what a splendid resource it had, and also wish it would give the animators more support for their work. (And this is a stockholder talking.)

I love Batman! Well, I mean the show. Hopefully this new one will go back more to the style of the original Batman: Animated episodes and stay away from the less dark episodes of the New Batman Adventures. The preview on the site was/is very choppy when downloaded but from what I've seen, it looks okay. The only thing I hope for is that it is NOT like the crappy Invasion America in its scope. I'm worried though because the animation looks akin to that feeble attempt at anime that Invasion had. Anyway we'll all see in a few days. By the way, I heard that WB has one more full length Batman animated feature that is going direct-to-video. Is this rumour true? Is anything true?
