END OF DAYS news!!!

Published at:  Nov 10, 1998 5:05:58 AM CST

I enjoyed an early draft of this script, but have since learned that Andrew Marlowe has been doing quite a bit of work on his draft that... well... it has improved quite a bit. Apparently the piece is... dare we say it... a bit more intellectual than the average Ahnuldt film. I'm hoping to see one of latest drafts so I can see how the film has developed. Usually I'm not too happy when I see a film's revised drafts, but since Andrew is doing it... well I have faith in the guy, I liked AIR FORCE ONE with the exception of that terrible thing at the end that just made me cringe due to the... ummmm... badness of the rendering. But hey, that wasn't his fault. And this film isn't as 'rah rah American' as that one, so it won't be as... offensive to people of other nationalities. However, I'm 100% positive there will be a big Satanist protest over the unfair depiction of Satanist in this film.

Speaking of Satanists, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER (no they are not Satanists) has announced that Gabriel Byrne is in negotiations to play SATAN in this film. Now, I seem to remember that Rod Steiger was up for the role, but I guess he's not involved any more. You New York spies need to keep your eyes and ears and digital cameras open for this one, it's in your backyard beginning this November 21st.

  • I can't wait for this thrill ride when it comes out. I wonder if it will come out summer or the holiday season? Harry do you know? To get full expostuer (spelling), END OF DAYS will probably be PG-13. Harry, I have been posting to you to get some new info on if Schwarzenegger is still interested in playing Sgt.Rock like you said back in July. Will Sgt.Rock eventually go to Arnold? Is the new draft finished and is it written for Arnold? I heard the last draft of Sgt.Rock was summer 1997 and written by Brian Henglaid. Can you post it on your site so everyone can read it, including me. Also, is Arnold still going to do that other war film for Paramount called WINGS OF EAGLES? Has anyone read Wings of Eagles and if so, is it kick ass? I want to badly see Arnold in a war film so he can kick some Nazi ass. I can see the trailers for Sgt.Rock now. You see fast clips of action while you here the song "he will, he will Rock you".

    Gabriel Byrne, YEAH BABY!

    by phil

WOW Gabriel Byrne as Satan?!?! How cool is that! He'd be much better than Rod Steiger. I mean, how old is that guy now, gotta be pushing into his 70s or something right? Byrne I think will be a quiet, understated Satan...usually when somebody plays the devil they come across as hammy (eg Pacino)..I've never seen Byrne give a bad performance ; I think he'll be damn great in the role.

    End of Days

    by corran fox horn

Sounds awesome, can't wait! Groovy premise, good screenwriter (LOVED AFO, don't know why everyone bitched about the ending), Director Peter Hymas could do quite well. When I heard that the original director was a first-time german video music director I thought "Good Lord!" However Simon West did a great job on Con Air, spectacular even, and he use to do Budweiser ads. Arnold and Gabriel...sounds good.

  • Gabreil Burns will do a fantastic job. He has been good in every last film I've seen him in (he's in Enemy of the State). Rod Stieger is now rumored to be playing a priest. I got that info from Coronas Coming Attractions. This film can be such an EVENT if they play with peoples fears on the trailers since it will be coming out 2 months before the year 2000 (the day the world is suppose to blow up). Arnold will be back. Does anyone know what his next film will be after End of Days? I thought Wings of Eagles, according to Coronas Coming Attractions.

AF1 plane crash/ Movies about Satan

    by geof

Hey, thanks for bringing that up Harry. Why was that soooo bad? Did they just run out of money or what? I mean, I cant think of a CG special effect that looked so bad in a supposedly 'A' movie in a while. Sorry I missed a previous discussion on this if there was. One note on EODays, am I the only one who doesnt get it? Battle with the devil? Why do we have movies that deal with such supernatural superlatives as Satan and God. Movies that deal with angels have it hard enough. It just seems to me that there are hundreds of better stories to tell with Arnold and all that money then a movie about fighting the devil. Thats my first vibes until I read here more on the project.

    harry,
okay, you have a great site, as i've said before.
enough of the butt-munching. now, to more serious stuff.
heaven forbid we 'offend' any other 'nationalities with our 'films'. 'scuse me, but have you been sticking your head so far up the HOLLYWOOD asses your brain's dehydrated? give me a friggin break!
make a goddamn film that entertains first. if you want to make one with a 'message', for god's sake go ahead. but jumpin' jehosaphat, don't ever suggest something should be 'fixed' to protect someone's sensibilities! you don't like something, just don't flipping go see it, okay?
thanks, by the way, for the service you provide(butt-munching mode).

Cameron should direct Arnolds WINGS OF EAGLES

    by abking

Since Cameron and Paramount Pictures got along so well on Titanic, they (Paramount) and Arnold should get Cameron to direct the war film Wings of Eagles. That would become a must see event. It would certanly surpass Saving Private Ryan and out-do True Lies. The Nazi's at the beginning of True Lies makes you want to see a whole movie with them and Arnold. Harry, the next time you talk to Cameron or Arnold, suggest to them that they team up for WINGS OF EAGLES.
