English Trailer for Aragorn's CAPTAIN ALATRISTE hits!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with the latest bit of coolness from Viggo Mortensen. We had a trailer in Spanish quite some time ago, but given most of our audience is English based - well this'll help ya out. Looks like a helluva fun adventure flick. Here it is, brought to you by the wonders of YouTube...

Hi Harry,

I guess by now you heard about this movie cause i think i read something about it on your site. Anyway tomorrow is the big opening here in Spain for one of the most anticipated movies made in our country..."Alatriste" ( "Captain Alatriste" for the foreign market, i think it opens in U.S in December ) which is based on a extremely popular series of novels here in Spain wich revolves about a 17th century spaniard soldier-turned-mercenary involved in many advetures during Imperial wars.

I found a 3 minute english promo tariler online so you might check it out, i will see the film tomorrow and try to send a review as soon as i can.

The movie stars Viggo Mortensen as Captain Alatriste, Elena Anaya ( Van Helsing ), Javier Camára ( Talk To Her ) and Eduardo Noriega ( Open Your Eyes )

If you post this call me Mathesonlegends

I just read that. Could make for a good movie, and I guess the series gets even better as it goes along. Not as good as his more recent work like Queen of the South, but pretty solid storytelling.

Maybe the movie's good, but the trailer's VO

    by CreasyBear

sounds like a melodramatically read, ham-handed voice-over for an SNL parody.

    hahaha reffered to as aragorn

    by messi

just as robert patrick is always t1000 to me and others. All in spanish. Maybe his argentinian accent will sneak through.

Anchorite Aragorn was raised in Argentina

    by messi

he didn't need to learn spanish, he already knew it. This whole thing is a spanish production though.

and a spot on analysis from the look of the trailer.

  • Aug. 31, 2006, 7:22 p.m. CST

by SlowSand should be noted that though the campy VO didn't emphasize it, Count Dantes--er...Captain Alitriste-- has the ability to kill 50 men when his Groucho mustache starts twitching, and his muskateer sword starts humming the tune of "A Pirate's Life for Me".

    Dear Harry

    by IronballsMcGinty

Do you know how fucking gay it is when you refer to an actor in the subject line of an article as some character they once played? Aragorn is not a real person. Aragorn was a character played by Viggo Mortensen. Hell, all you'd have had to say was "Viggo" and we'd have known who you were talking about. Sheesh, if Harry saw Bill Murray on the street, he'd probably yell "Hey! It's Carl the Groundskeeper!"

  • Aug. 31, 2006, 7:32 p.m. CST

    Horrible, horrible trailer.

    by Veraxus

The voiceover makes it feel like this is a Hallmark original movie.

Well think of it from a producers point of view, the only one who could do it and bring people in who speaks spanish is Antonio banderas, but maybe he didn't want it. And women would love to see Viggo speak Spanish.
