    Women Leading Film

    by bad kitty

Maybe this movie will start a trend of women leading in action/adventure films. Now they need to make a REAL movie, a la Braveheart, about Boudicca, Queen of Iceni. I know for a fact that there's a script floating around Hollywood somewhere.

The humble opinion of Bad Kitty...

    Women Leading film?

    by taxman

Women leading in action/adventure films is hardly new. The Alien films, The Terminator, GI Jane, The Avengers just to name a few.

    Action/Adventure

    by bad kitty

I wouldn't classify GI Jane or The Avengers as evidence of women leading in quality action/adventure movies...also, Uma shared the screen with Ralph Fiennes. It's been a while since either Terminator movies (most ppl think of Arnold as the star), or the best of the Alien movies (IMHO) were released. Again, I'm talking about Academy Award caliber action/adventure epics (I know, I know, being nominated for, or winning an Oscar doesn't necessarily mean the production/performances were deserving of such recognition...but you know what I'm getting at). If you ask what are the greatest action/adventure movies ever made, most likely you'd get a list of movies which were starring vehicles for men, not women. All I'm saying is, it would be great if Joan of Arc inspired more quality action/adventure roles for women.

    a little frightened

    by tonic

Is it just me, or is anyone else out there just a little bit fearful of Milla Jovovich starring as Joan of Arc. I mean, sure she's a hottie, and yes, she's a capable actress, holding her own in flix like "Fifth Element" and "Dazed & Confused" but Joan of Arc is (even in a Luc Besson film) a serious, weighty role requiring true acting ability. Furthermore, Joan of Arc kicked some major ass and Milla looks like a stiff breeze could knock her over. I think she's too cutesy for the role. I don't know who else they could've cast, Jodie Foster would've been great 15 years ago, maybe Angelia Jolie, but as much as I love Luc Besson, I can't help but seem doom in this film's future.
