    by georges garvaren

to like trailers these days. if i like it, the movie is usually a let down. if i dont like it i dont see it and its usually an alright flic, so i hear. i think i need to do what george does and only do the opposite of what i think i should. but that might lead to jail time. again.

    Affleck and Ryan Reynolds?

    by #1 zero

I liked Narc, it was gritty, it was docu style and it had two non superstar actors playing grizzled roles. This seems like Carnahan went away from the grittiness in favor of stylistic over the top action sequences. It seemed like a guy killed a guy with a playing card in this trailer. Weird. Anyway it appears that Affleck and Reynolds only appear in the cast list at the back end of this trailer. Affleck may need something like this to get some kind of macho cred back and Reynolds is a weird choice for any action movie, his physique is probably getting him these rolls because he really seems Jim Carrey goofy a lot. Yeah, motorhead was cool, a lot of flash, I hope this fleshes out because of my respect for Narc but this maybe seems like someone trying too hard. Glad Carnahan and Cruise have gone different ways.

Could be good for a very played-out genre.

I'll always wonder what Carnahan's A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES would have been like. I wonder what Harrsion Ford thinks about throwing away his Oscar like that.

    Looks stylish

    by mechasheeva

but still got no idea what it's about or what to expect. Still, I do want to punch Ben Affleck in the face repeatedly unless he's in a K. Smith movie, so if he's killed or maimed or something here I'll plunk down the cash for it.

I think that trailer rendered me unconcious!

    by industrykiller

But when I came to god damn did I have a smile on my face! Narc was a fantastic and still criminally underrated film. This looks like the opening scene of Narc stretched out over an entire film with a twist of Tarentino and dab of Takeshi Miike. Fuck that's some hot trailer action.

This looks... like it might be...

    by frgl_rockatansky

SO INCREDIBLY FUCKING COOL. The Piv, looking like he's killing people with playing cards. Ben Asslick looking like he's doing something cool. Lots of blood, guns, sleight-of-hand weaponry, and a nice little nod to the PULP FICTION trailer. The ultra-kinetic action of this trailer, as I hope it will actually be in the film, is a little less Mr. Madonna, and a little more John "King of all Ass-kicking Shootouts" Woo style. This is a very good thing.

Also seeing Piv in a kill-frenzy would be awe-inspiring. He usually plays the hapless victim in these types of films, like PHOENIX or JUDGMENT NIGHT. And I am not ashamed to admit I've seen those films. Although I probably should be.

    What The Heff?

    by tempermental

Joe Carnahan eats speed pills and coffee packets for breakfest meals. Then he makes adrenaline-charged movies with Jason Bateman. We should all be so lucky. Aslo, this teaser looks good and Wayne Kramer can fudge on it.

I dunno, seemed way to much like a Guy Ritchie movie.

    by cameron1

Unless this is like the requiem for those types of movies. As in it's just off the wall totally fucked batshit crazy x1000 it's gonna be the same old shit. Takashi Miike is a good reference point, make something as crazy as one of his movies and this just might work.

...I loved the feel of the trailer, playing off the whole Working Title reputation then launching into some frenetic violence and action goodness galore...ultimately this film is gonna live and die on whether it's going to be a shitload of fun and so far I'm starting to get this could be a hella-entertaining one.

If this movie has the energy of Snatch, that could

    by creasybear

only be a good thing. Smokin' Aces looks like it could be a lot of fun. The only thing that worries me is a flashback to that horrible, over-the-top, ultra-violent Marky Mark movie years back, for which I cannot recall the name. (I couldn't sit through the whole thing.) And re: Affleck, if this isn't the shot in the arm he needs to rise above the level of laughingstock, his movie future looks grim indeed. He'll have to mope through life, content with being a millionaire with a full head of hair and a hot-ass wife.

Did it actually tell us anything about this movie? If I'm to believe this; If I like guys with stubble, guns, and throwing playing-cards... then this may well be the movie for me! It didn't click until a little bit after, but yeah.. what the fuck was that trailer about?
