Use Funky Cyber Magic To Unleash Your Own Samuel L. Jackson PhoneBot!!
We realize that some of you out there are sick of hearing about SNAKES ON A PLANE - so don't think of this post as "Yet another SNAKES ON A PLANE article". Instead, look at it as a pointer towards a reeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly cool promotional tool that...well...just plain rocks. It's one of the most intriguing promotional undertakings I've seen for a film in quite a while. Sure, this is about SNAKES in one sense...but its overall niftiness (yes, I said "nifty") more than makes up for it.
The folks over at varitalk have themselves a ready-to-deploy Samuel L. Jackson PhoneBot. You can configure Sam to call your friends/family/loved ones/ex(s) on the phone, and verbally accost them BY NAME. It demands that they see SOAP - but it in a not-so-subtle sort of way. When Sam calls them, the call will appear to be coming from your phone number.
The transmission and delivery here are clear, smooth, and top-notch -- this freaks the crap out of people. I've bludgeoned many people with a Sam today (that doesn't quite sound right, does it?), always to brain-frying results. You can even program Sam with specific details about the person you're calling, further personalizing the greeting.
I'm thinking someone needs to contract Sam for a broader based website, through which Geeks like us could unleash any number of ungodly SLJ tirades, for any occasion. Preferably with less restraint than demonstrated by this family-friendly Sam. What a glorious future that would be!

I'm sure this whole promotional campaign is nothing but a conspiracy! Sam Jackson is out to get us by using our private information! And if it isn't him behind this scheme, then it's a machination by some evil hacker who is going to find out my phone number! Oh, wait. All telemarketers got my phone number anyway, regardless of whether I go to a Snakes on a Plane website or not. Never mind.
