RUSH HOUR 2 tidbit

Published at:  Oct 29, 1998 1:29:59 AM CST

Well, I really liked RUSH HOUR, but instead of a sequel, I would rather see the pair in another film all together. Instead of doing another RUSH HOUR, why not do something like ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. Just imagine.. NEW LINE owns Chucky, Freddie and Jason. Chucky needs Chris Tucker's body... and hilarity ensues. Ok ok ok... maybe that would be horrible, but if they do do a sequel, let's have it not follow the exact pattern of RUSH HOUR, instead take those characters into a John Woo universe of Hong Kong. Turn up the coolness factor about 1000 percent. That's my opinion anyway.. I'm sure you have yours... that's what TALK BACK is for... talk away...

I had the opportunity to speak with Jackie Chan yesterday in Beverly Hills,
and one of the little tidbits he told me was that there DEFINITELY WILL be a
Rush Hour 2, tentatively planned to go before the lens in late 1999 or early
2000 (due to Jackie and Chris Tucker's schedules). He even hinted at a
possibility of Rush Hour 3 if a second film is successful (I think he was
just speaking off the top of his head, I don't think there are any official
plans at this time).

Jackie also recently completed two documentaries, "Jackie Chan: My Life"
and Jackie Chan: My Stunts." No word on distribution yet.

"Michael Ellis."

    Sorry...

Actually, Chucky is owned by Universal, the company that made the "Child's Play" series, not New Line. As for "Rush Hour 2," I guess it was inevitable as the first one was so highly successful. I still don't know why "RH" took off to the extent that it did...really wasn't all that entertaining.

    Rush Hour 2

    by rebel scum

I agree with your idea, Harry.
It would be very cool to see
    Chris and Jackie plunked down
into the Hong Kong of the
    Wooverse. It would be violent,
    funny, and very very cool.

Hell, I liked Rush Hour a lot.
    That opening theme was very
    groovy.

    The essential sequel

    by cereal killer

If a sequel to Rush Hour will be done, then the perfect film would involve:

-A Hong Kong setting with the triads as the villains

    -Jet Li playing the villain

-Tsui Hark directing a good american movie for once. Or Sammo Hung directing his first one.

-Instead of all the Chinese voices being dubbed have Chris Tucker's voice redubbed

    Old News...

Jackie Chan has already confirmed numerous times that there will be a Rush Hour 2. This has been reported on numerous Hong Kong sites.

Also reported: It will most definitely be set in Hong Kong, as well as (mainland) China.

    RUSH HOUR 2

    by nick

I REALLY ENJOYED RUSH HOUR AND WAS GLAD TO HEAR THAT THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL. I THINK THAT THE PRIMISE OF RUSH 2 SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE WHAT SOMEONE SAID, LIKE A JOHN WOO STYLE FILM, WITH A COMIC TWISTS.

    rush hour 2

    by hong gil-dong

please give this film to someone who knows what they are doing. i just saw rush hour today...i live in korea so, ya know, we don't get movies right away. anyhoo, the biggest problem for me was that we were given a 'chris tucker, beverly hills cop/axel foley' role in what should have been jackie's movie. fuck, every movie jackie is in should be jackie's. not enough fun jackie action, too much of chris tucker's voice. but, he kinda won me over. get a helluva script and some more laughs courtesy of mr. chan, a hong kong setting (would be nice to see an american being a fish out of water for a change), a talented action director, and if jet li and jackie faced off, damn baby...

    by wachi

You must be dreaming. Jackie Chan is now shooting "Glass Bottle" with Tony Leung Chiu-wai (Hardboiled, Bullet in the Head, Changking Express) in HK and Taiwan.

And RH2 is really an old news, Jackie Chan's already told the press that the project with Disney directed by Michael Bay.
