More on MYSTERY MEN plus bits on SPEEDWAY JUNKY and FREE ENTERPRISE!!!

Published at:  Oct 29, 1998 12:42:31 AM CST

Now I don't know about you folks, but I'm really really looking forward to MYSTERY MEN, ever since I first started hearing how cool the casting was... well I have been digging for more info. And while I'm on the note of talking about projects I'm dying to see FREE ENTERPRISE is one I just can not wait to get my peepers peeping on. Made by some top of the line geeks, and with great word of mouth.... well... gosh it just can't arrive soon enough.

OakNut here, I saw Moriarty's well-spoken posting, and had to add to it,
with regards to MYSTERY MEN. The script is not only phenomenal, but the
truth is the lead role was for BEN STILLER 100% of the way, and the role
is not only hilarious, it's very well written and quite deep,
emotionally--if this film was made in the mid-'80's, the only two actors
that could have handled it would have been MICHAEL KEATON or TOM HANKS.
That ain't bad company!

Words on two new indies: I had the opportunity to see SPEEDWAY JUNKY
with a bunch of agents/industry folks. It's showing this week in Milan,
and it's a breakthrough for two TV actors: TIFFANI AMBER-THIESEN and
JONATHAN TAYLOR THOMAS. They both prove they can act WELL, and that they
are both very wise in choosing challenging projects. For those of you
not in the know, SPEEDWAY JUNKY was exec produced by none other than GUS
VAN SANT, and is worth a look when it gets near you (which will probably
be after Sundance).

And for all you TREKKIES (TREKKERS?) out there, catch FREE ENTERPRISE.
Aside from being downright hilarious, it proves what most Trek fans have
known all along--SHATNER IS BRILLIANT! Of course, you'll never be able
to watch Star Trek again, but it's worth it! Keep an eye out for this
quality piece.

Ok, does anybody know the release date for "Free Enterprise"? I have been waiting for it forever, and all I ever hear is this "coming soon" schtick. Anybody?

I don't think Free Enterprise has a distribution deal yet-- It just showed at the AFI Film Festival and they are sorting through offers -- The movie is hysterical.
