AICN is happy to be giving away four (4) copies of the brand new ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY JR. DVD boxed set, which hit stores last week.
This is an 8 disc set featuring the entire 27 episode run of the series.
It's a nice package loaded with tons of cool extras, including audio commentaries, and featurettes like "A BRISCO COUNTY Writers Room" (with writers and producers from the show) & "Brisco's Book of Coming Things".
Set in the Old West, the series starred the mighty Bruce Campbell as Brisco County, Jr. - son of a famous lawman (R. Lee Ermey) - who sets out to catch the gang who killed his father. All kinds of weird stuff happens along the way: strange and fanciful adventures evoking a sense of X-FILES, THE WILD, WILD WEST, and various other genre faves.
The show was created by Jeffrey Boam (INDIAN JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, THE LOST BOYS) and Carlton Cuse (LOST), sported episodes directed by Kim Manners and Rob Bowman (both veterans of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and THE X-FILES),
and featured a theme by Randy Edelman that you'll very likely recognize.
HOW DO YOU WIN?
1) Create your own story using BRISCO COUNTY characters. Your story must involve at least one (1) AICN personality: Harry, Moriarty, Merrick, Quint, Massawyrm, Capone, Hercules...ANYONE WHO WRITES REGULARLY FOR THE SITE IS FAIR GAME. Love us. Hate us. Use us. Abuse us. We can be heroes, villains, objects of your affection or targets for your disdain. Think out of the box & have fun!
2) Tell your story as concisely as possible...
3) Send us your story via the e-mail link provided below. Title your e-mail "BRISCO CONTEST"...be sure you're sending from an e-mail address that you check often and is reliably active. We won't chase you down.
AICN staff will judge winners by their cleverness and creativity. We will notify you via e-mail.
CONTEST DEADLINE is Sunday July 30 at 11:59 P.M. Central Standard Time, USA
PLEASE NOTE:
You'll get a lotta extra love for being clear and concise here -- SIZE DOES NOT MATTER! LENGTH IS NOT REQUIRED & WILL NOT NECESSARILY BE REWARDED! Seriously, try to keep it to a few paragraphs if at all possible.

i want one!!
-
what?
-
Kind of hard to write a short story involving the Brisco world when you have almost no memories of the characters or the general story arc. Oh, woe is me.
-
This was a good show that died a prematurely. I think Fox cancelled it so they could fill the timeslot with Sliders or World's Wildest Police Chases. I hate you, Rupert Murdoch.
-
Starring Harry and Bruce Campbell. Coming soon.
-
He doesn't have the much-coveted black talkback box, but he's just a-beggin' for the ol' Brisco County, Jr. treatment.
-
Yes.
-
'Cos I got ideas.
-
And I get a free pack of coasters. My story will be entitled,"Harry Knowles and Superman Returns or How I learned to stop critiquing and love the bomb." Oh, and starring Bruce Campbell. Now when do I get my coasters?
-
I picked up the box set this week as happy as a ferret with a sock, but I tried to watch it I discovered they had subtitles for just about every language EXCEPT english. Oh great, so I have to fucking learn French or Spanish to watch the show? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH WARNER BROTHERS? JESUS CHRIST, are closed captions in ENGLISH just too much to ask?

if it hasnt been like 10 years or whatever since the last time i saw it.
-
I gave up on Quint's Superman Returns contest because I overshot the script for the comic entry. There was no way I could do all of the art for it! Now I'm stuck with a fairly decent little story, and then you go and start a writing contest, but it's for Brico!!! >_< *sigh* lame.

Unlike the X-Files contest with the 10,000 word minimum
by darthcorleone
I stayed up all night to finish that X-Files contest. I of course did not win. I'd like to give this one a try, but I never watched Brisco County, so I'm not qualified to write a story, even if it could be a couple paragraphs. I just remember catching bits and pieces of it and thinking it could be a cool show.
-
I am looking forward to purchasing the set, but if there's a slim chance i could win a free set, i'll try. But i need so refreshing.
-
Olsen's so gonna kick your ass for messin' with his girl!
-
Merrick, I accidentally sent it to you from a bad e-mail, so I sent it again with "re-send" is paranthesis next to the subject. I hope this doesn't affect my chances.
-
I still remember how crappy this show was. They should have waited a few years to release it on DVD when everyone forgot.
-
Uh, I've only finished about a third of the story, (which is more like a chapter than a full story) and I've already broke that rule. :/
-
Have you had a chance to partake of fisky-poo's update from last night? Funniest fucking thing I've ever seen. He's finally gone boi-oi-oi-oi-oinnnnggg...
-
When you gonna learn? Fuck Brisco County DVDs! Sly is laying some blunt force trauma on your asses this December! Let's start building some hurtin' bombs!
-
i guess it's made for the geeks that still live at home with their
mom and don't have to work 6 days a week to get by.
say, could you just mail me one of them Box sets? just because im such a huge fan of Bruce "Mysterio" Campbell? -
Seriously, every contest I see on this site makes you jump through flaming hoops of fire to win the prize. Whether it's draw a masterpiece, write a story involving characters you may not know if you haven't watched the prize (but really want to), or (my favourite) get a freakin' tattoo, the contests are just near impossible to win unless you're artistically gifted, familiar with the prize (which is somewhat unfair), or outright CRAZY. Not to mention the fact that it seems like no one ever wins anything because it takes so long for the winners to be selected. Just speaking my mind, but I think a lot of people would agree with me.
-
...when Brisco found Harry's severed left nipple in a leather bag attached to his saddle while, off in the distance, a strange cackling was heard and Brisco realized Moriarty the Nippleman had struck again in the dead of night, causing him to recoil in abject fear and unutterable terror." The end. Send me my shit.
-
really, Bruce is the man but this show sucked.
-
Oh man, I read that last night and stared at it with a mixture of amusement and near terror. He either genuinely believes what he has written there or he is just doing it to get a rise out of us (because he knows we are aware of the blog). Either way, he's insane.
-
i have a feeling this is going to be a very high selling dvd. or maybe i just had a brain fart
-
Throw in "Jack of All Trades" and ya got a deal!
-
... oh wait....

Coming home late after Comic Con, Quint couldn

I like how they say: "SIZE DOES NOT MATTER! LENGTH IS NOT REQUIRED & WILL NOT NECESSARILY BE REWARDED!"........ And then in the next breath, they say, "Seriously, try to keep it to a few paragraphs if at all possible."...... So I guess they don't care how long the stories are. Just so long as they're short. It sounds like they basically want to expend as little energy/time as possible when judging these things. Fair enough, except for the fact that the requirements of the contest itself ask that the participants put in quite a bit of effort of their own........ BTW, entrants should also be aware--it doesn't matter which AICN staffer and which Brisco character are most heavily used in your story: Just so long as Moriarty and Comet are the main characters.
-
I REALLY want to... Damn you 9-5 job!! (more like 9:30-8:30)
-
is that it will have stains from Harry's barbecue sauce that's dribbled down his chin during one of his 50 hours DVD marathons.
-
I was just kidding but now I really want to do this...
-
That might make it funny and FUN!
-
to this day, is his most despised archnemesis and enemy" he has a high opinion of himself... I'm still annoyed he doesn't count me as one of DocP's alternate usernames. :-(
-
..This show sucked on some ass. Who the hell wants to see it again?
-
It's only a matter of time.

Coming Summer 2007...
-
I Loved the show and I
-
it was released the same day as brsico. mmhm.
-
I think my entry was 5 minutes too late :/
-
I didn't enter. I still got 1/3 of a nifty little yarn written. I never watched the show, so most of it was gonna be AICN references, I didn't bother finishing. Plus it would have been waaay too long. Y'all asked for a few paragraphs, I had at least ten in the part I finished. heh.
-
I really hope I win but I am not the best writer in the world though.
-
...with my entry. 9 pages long. But now I have this overwhelming paranoia that my email never went through, since Outlook Express seemed to have crashed at the precise moment I clicked send. I can only hope the send folder, which does in fact list the email, is not lying.
-
Is this contest just going to disappear from our collective consiousness, or will we, the readers of AICN (and most importantly, the people who entered) get some kind of notification that the winners have been chosen. I need closure, darn it.
-
yeah, i hope they feature the winning entries. i'd like to read them. i entered, but i'd never entered a contest of this sort before, so i've no idea if i did well or not. ha.
-
Thanks darkjedijaina. It's a good time to be a geek.
-
indeed, it is a good time to be a geek. especially a bruce campbell-loving geek. i'm anxiously awaiting more news on My Name Is Bruce. they're filming for it now. eeee.
-
I had a good time entering this contest. I hope that they publish the four winning entries. That would be cool.
-
Post the stories! Me want to read!
-
I'd like to read 'em too.
-
Or they were all so good he is having a hard time picking the winners.
-
If you want to watch 'em before you send them to me. That's fine.
Love, Biggles -
Cuz it's still too expensive to buy.
