Remember them? I'm not even sure if that is their names... been about two decades since I've read a Spidey comic. Though there was a time when I spent my paper route money on all three Spidey comics in publication, haven't really kept up with it. I remember a couple of B-rate villains, some guy named the Vulture who had giant wings, and some Australian dude named, appropriately enough, Boomerang. And some lizard guy from the constellation of Cassiopiea. Any chance of these guys making the final cut?

If there will be no 4th film for sure that means Spidey has to: Wear the black suit, face off with Sandman, Harry's Goblin each at least once, deal with meeting Gwen Stacey, loose the suit which creates Venom, plus other story pieces... How is that all gonna fit in one film? I mean I don't doubt them but if this isn't longer than 2 hours and 30 minutes I'll be surprised.

following the theme of the previous films doesnt it make sense that the sandman is involved in some kind of scientific accident... and if we are working under the assumption that venom isn't cosmic in origin maybe he is created in the same accident.... maybe the sandman is some kind of result from the attempted creation of the venom symbiote thing.... no?

Look how nauseatingly ugly she is compared to the lovely blonde. (Well, she's also ugly compared to the guys in the film, or to the symbiote, but that's another story) I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to sabotage the film.

I'm going to be brutally honest with you because, well, this is the internet. I liked the first half of your film, it's very good for a student project. It is well edited, the score is well used and you actually manage to develop some escalating tension. There are some issues with the shots looking a bit amateurish, maybe to do with your camera and lighting, but it is constructed well. It's decent enough mimicry of Nolan's style. As soon as Batman appears the thing kind of deflates. I don't have issues with the guy playing Batman, and you're right that a white suit contrasts with a black guy better. But as soon as I saw those tights and that cardboard cowl I just started to laugh. It looks like effort went into the costume but it looks extremely silly. Probably not the desired reaction. Anyway keep at it because you show talent from the looks of it, but you need to know that if you can't do something right you should find another way to do it. Again, sorry for being brutally honest with you but I personally like to hear criticism and it's easier to swallow when it's from some faceless denizen of the internet.

Dude thats was an excellent criticism im no fool with delusions of grandeur. Ive played this at several screenings and it is supposed to get toungue in cheek once batman shows up, if i really wanted to do a Dead End i would have put the money into it but this is suposed to be a more fun thing, and it was for class so i didnt want to do too much or put too much money in. In fact it is supposed to make people laugh because in every screening ive showed it at it was called Back ALley antics so people didnt even know it was batman thing so it kinda comes outta no where but we all know no one will watch a video called back alley antics on the internet. Thanks for your opinion though spot on!

Something about Kirsten in that picture, she looks really pretty, and Bryce Howard is a hottie. What more do you guys want? I happen to like normal sized women, not super thin like Kate Bosworth and Keira Knightly. These girls are beautiful (talking about Keira & Kate) but WTF is up with them lately? Not so much Keira as Kate. Saw them on the cover of some supermarket tabloid rag, not sure which one. They had comparison pics of Kate from Blue Crush... What happened? These girls were normal & healthy. Damn. I don't know if it's me being Latin or what, but I think Bryce looks just fine...

Sony can sure market the villains in all the Spiderman films. Never complained about how they've introduced any of them in first look posters and pictures. And Spiderman posters and pictures have been awesome too. This is what Bryan Singer has had issues with supposedly with Superman Returns... the marketing was garbage.

July 23, 2006, 1:07 p.m. CST
I have a bad feeling it's going to get messed up because they're trying to juggle too much story (the Harry storyline, Venom, Sandman, the unecessary introduction of Gwen Stacy, etc.). I hope I'm wrong, and given Sam's track record I think he can pull it off. It's just so terribly hard to get a really decent trilogy. Off hand, I can't think of any... I mean, the Star Wars series stumbled with Jedi, and the new series only had one decent film in the bunch. Godfather had that lame ass Godfather III. Indiana Jones has the grotesque silly misfire "Temple of Doom" in the middle (Kate Capshaw was no Marion, that's for sure!). Superman was sullied with Superman III. X-Men was leading up to something spectacular with X-Men 3, but instead we got something less than what it should have been. Lethal Weapon II was entertaining when they added Joe Pesci, then III was overkill. Mel Gibson's other trilogy, Mad Max came up short with "Thunderdome" ("we don't need another hero" and we didn't need another Mad Max movie). The Matrix series never quite lived up to its groundbreaking original film and the list goes on and on... How in the world can Spider-Man avoid the same fate?

Okay, that picture of him as Venom creeps me the hell out! AWESOME! And Gwen, Gwen, Gwen - she's picture perfect. The smile, the hair, the headband - it's like she walked right out of the comic. So pretty, and I'm speaking from a heterosexual female perspective. Kirsten Dunst is still lookin' good - I like her hair colour now, and while I think she could afford to eat a porterhouse steak once in a while, I can't fault her actor's savvy. Say what you will about her looks (that's subjective), but she's one of the few child actors who hasn't fucked up and has managed to star in a lot of good movies.

not to bad for 2 days worth of work, couple of suggustions, i hate "shot and cut" it's too...Rodriquezesque. That works fine with RR but i think you should change it to directed and edited by or just Directed by second, it goes to the batman suit, it's too Adam West and not enough Bale, however i like the white outfit, with a little more work on the custome you could have a winner on the custome. I mean the villin's custome was better the Bats. Also I didn't like the yellow belt, i'd go with a blackbelt with a white emblem or a white belt with a black emblem, that yellow just really grabbed my eye as off. Third, pick up a graphic novel called "Stan Lee imagines (or reimagines) the DC Universe" something like that, he has a real interesting take on a black batman. It might give you some ideas. But for 2 days worth of work and some gurilla filmmaking excellent work

I think Bryce Dallas Howard is spot on as Gwen Stacy. I look at her and think she walked right out of the comic. I'm not familiar with her work (I avoided the Village and will be avoiding Lady in the Water) but even the Shamalien haters usually make some sort of assertion about her excellent acting. Anyway she doesn't look a thing like the "narf" or whatever she is in Lady in the Water, and being that she is basically an unknown to me it seems like she's totally going to disappear into the role. Hot, yes, although I haven't seen the infamous "fat pictures". Although she definitely doesn't look fat in that picture, and not in anything other pictures I've seen in her. But I'm with whoever said thick > anorexic. In a perfect world every girl would be at that perfect medium between bonerack and chubster but it's nice to see that not all young actresses these days are waifishly thin. It's gross, and the way that once beautiful titties and ass disappear when it happens is a crime against humanity. Just look at Jennifer Connelly godammit. I never thought Kirsten Dunst was right for Mary Jane. Don't get me wrong, she's hot (although not my type, Howard neither.. I tend to prefer brunettes with dark skin over fair blondes) but she's not how I pictured Mary Jane in my mind's eye. That Mary Jane would look something like Lindsay Lohan circa Mean Girls, but thank god she was never cast in the Spiderman franchise because her personal life is a trainwreck and she already looks like one of the Golden Girls. I also think Dunst is overrated as an actress, like many in her profession she must have a good agent that keeps her in interesting projects. People get that confused with acting talent sometimes. Anyway, she's the one detrimental feature (OK, the power ranger Goblin suit.. the Nickelback song.. The Macy Gray parade.. The raindrops are falling on my head montage.. but that's IT!!) of the Spiderman series so far. Fingers crossed for Spiderman 3, because it looks absolutely bonkers. It appears to switch up the formula completely, darken the palette and kick the villains up a notch. I can't wait to see what they do with the Gwen Stacy plotline, maybe they'll kill off Mary Jane a la Death of Gwen Stacy, simply reversing the two in the mythology. That would be a huge curveball. It was just as surprising when they killed off Gwen Stacy decades ago in the comic. Fanboys everywhere would cry foul, but I'd say there's a bit of advantage in getting Dunst out of the franchise.

Looks like Venom has webs in this one. I was worried they were going all "Ultimates" version on us. I hate when the movies borrow ideas from Ultimates for the villains because those versions always suck compared to the originals (Dr. Doom in the F4 movie, anyone?). I'm guessing you had done storyboards for the shots of the fight, but your actors pulled their punches every time. They're making a movie! (Okay, a shorty on the cheap, but still.) They gotta sell that sh*t! Hit each other! Knock each other down! Did they not do enough choreography beforehand? You're the director, man! Force them to give us some impact!
July 23, 2006, 7:26 p.m. CST
Gwen from the comic books. This film looks good, the trailer is well done (although does not top POTC2 trailer). Although there seems to be a lot to juggle this go round. Raimi has a really good cast, and it will be a disappointment to waste, Bryce, Topher or Hayden-Church. Aunt May, for instance, should just be in the background this go round. Not Peter's Jimmny Cricket.
July 23, 2006, 7:28 p.m. CST
It continues to bum me out that Peter's sense of humor is nearly non-existent in these films. What a shame, as that's what I liked about the character - his funny is his coping mechanism. And this movie certainly looks more dour even than the last in tone. Make with the ha-ha already!

Yeah i agree on the sissy part but no they didnt know the choreography until we got out there that night so i dont blame them. Next one well practice the stuff beforehand! All that up until the point where you can beat another one out, and then repeat the process. Fucking bitches. Thank you come again

She has the same hair cut and colour and that`s it! It doesn`t make her gwen. Look at those comics, esp. the Alex Ross death of Gwen Stacy. If Gwen looks like somebody it`s a round face actress like Sandra Dee. Just cast the equivalent.

Because she has openly said several times that the Spiderman series should end after three movies and that she would never do anymore. Based on what I heard from her interviews lately and the MTV Movie Awards a few years ago (around Spidey 1) she thinks she is the heart and soul of the franchise and with out her it 's dead. Fuck that Moon faced bitch. She's attractive in her own way,but if she or anybody else in this billion dollar series thinks they're above it and it hasn't made there careers then dump them off the next one and pick one of the ten million other actors who would jump at the chance to be part of one of the best franchises in history. I always liked BDH anyways and if they killed off Dunst and kept her (BDH) in for a few more I would be happy. TM, James Franco, and JK Simmons could pull off ten more flicks with a good director like SR and some decent villians which Spidey has plenty of. I guess Dunst pisses me off cause I would love the Spiderman series to be the next James Bond films (lasting for many films),only better with cooler villans.

Laura Prepon! My wife and I were saying this when we first found out about Kirsten Dunst playing MJ. Truth be told, my wife is the Spidey fan and felt that a taller and stronger presence was needed for MJ. We both think that Laura Prepon would have been great. Not to mention that she had recently done that Maxim spread. She certainly wouldn't have hurt the box office and we wouldn't have to endure "snaggletooth" jokes. Now that they have tapped the "70's show" cast what are they waiting for! Break off the dead weight and give us the true MJ. I'll shut up now.

I'm pretty sure that extra lumpiness Howard is attributed is due to the fact she is wearing a wire works harnace to her in that scene you've linked to. Of course then again there could be an actress staring in a major motion picture that actualy eats like a normal human, or maybe she is just fat.

Sorry, but that side shot of Howard STILL makes her look like a bit of a chunkette. Yes, she has a nice face/smile, but come on -- look at the size of her head compared to her width, even taking account the jacket he has on. When Harry posted those pictures awhile back of her being carried by Spider-man there was a huge talkback over how heavy Howard seemed to look while filming this third outing. To me, the bottom line is this: contrary to comments made in this talkback by those who think that JUST because you disagree with Howard's casting that you must be an "angry masturbator" (which ranks as one of the most retarded and bitter comments of late and which makes me question who the REAL angry yank-off artist around here is), the truth is in the comics Gwen was a total hottie. People try to defend Howard by claiming in the comics Gwen was "curvacious" or even try to claim she was "volumptuous" and thus full-figured, but they're full of shit. Check your comics history. John Romita, Gil Kane and Ross Andru in each of their respective runs on SPIDER-MAN all drew Gwen as a total hottie that stood as an equal to MJ and her modeling career. The truth is, the perfect casting for MJ would have been Alicia Witt since she's infinitely hotter and looks more like the character than Dunst ever ended up being...and, yes, Gwen should look like a young Jenna Jameson. Not because I'm here beating off to a porn star, but simply because in the comics -- from her introduction right up to her death -- Gwen was always drawn THAT thin, trim and blazingly hot. YES, Jameson-like porn star hot and NOT "I'm as wide as 4 heads, but that's okay because it make me a modern, realistic woman for all the politically correct moviegoers out there who can't stand hot, thin, trim woman and who think chunky woman need better representation in films." But the ever-ongoing debate of Howard's figure aside, all in all, I hope this movie turns out okay. Personally, I loved the first one, but the second one dragged like hell for the first hour or so. And I mean PAINFULLY dragged, as in you kept checking your watch with a thought balloon over your head that read, "For crying out loud, this WAS supposed to be a Spider-Man movie, right? Shit, where's my ticket. Maybe I'm in the wrong theater..."

Here's the thing, Prepon, isn't that great at acting. Plus her voice is a tad too manly for MJ. Don't get me wrong though, she's smokin', well, when she was a red head that is. (Why the fuck did she go blonde? Idiot.)

I think it's a harness. Look at this page: http://www.alcurio.com/index.php?action=link_site&link_id=101. In the solo picture she looks normal. In the scenes beside Spidey she looks either like her shirt is billowing out a bit or shes hiding a harness or something under there. Some camera angles are just unflattering.
July 24, 2006, 4:04 a.m. CST

I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit on that "not because i'm over here beating off to a porn star part" XD - the only reason anyone would think of Jenna in it is for some fuckin' nudity. you want a hot(ter) blonde chick as Gwen Stacy, go with Katherine Heigl - she's hot and she can act.

I can't imagine him having much screen time at all since it already has the Sandman, Green Goblin 2, plus the whole black suit storyline. That is an awful lot to cram into one movie. Plus, Raimi has stated he doesn't like Venom. So I'm really not expecting much screentime for Venom at all. Thoughts?
July 24, 2006, 9:13 a.m. CST

Sandman has a daughter in this movie. Current speculation is that Sandman's daughter is very sick and will die unless she receives a new treatment that Sandman can't afford. So he's a petty thief of sorts, trying to steal what he needs to save his daughter, and then is involved in an accident and actually becomes Sandman, etc. This would fit with the previous mold of the main villain being sympathetic and not really having a choice in the matter of being a villain.

I think they decided to go with non-supermodels for spider-man because Raimi wanted normalish looking people to play against the very normal looking Toby McGuire. Beautiful but not soap opera plastic. Desirable without being obviously out of his league movie stars. I also think that this is just fine. There are a lot more things to worry about in this movie than 2 inches on Bryce Dallas Howard's ass. Personally I dont watch Spider-man so I can masturbate to his leading ladies - I'm there for the fight scene acrobatics - but hey, to each his own.

That chick is far from fat. I know the in thing now is the near death, ethiopian, Sally Struthers feed the chidren commerical girls like Nicole Ritchie and Lindsey Lohan but even by those standards BDH is not fat. It's kind of funny to hear so many people calling the girl fat and chunky when the people saying it probably have girlfriends Harry's size. Women who take care of themselves like Fergie from the Blackeyed peaz and even Lindsey Lohan are hot,but there isn't a straight guy on this board that can tell me honestly chicks like Mariah Carey ,Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez don't have the hottest curves in the world.

Good point about the harness. But Ive see her recently on Conan O'Brien and she looked fat on that too, not that her whole body looks fat, but that she has a fat ass, and a somewhat pear-shaped body. She was wearing black pants, thats what chicks with fat asses do to try cover it up, they wear black pants or skirts. Ive searched on Google for a full body shot of her to try to get a better idea of her body shape and i couldnt find any. Its like she's gone out of her way not to be photographed from the waist down. If somebody can find a full pic of her Id like to see it.......btw Its Theresa Russell thats in Spidey 3, not Diane Lane. That doesnt change anything else about my post though, Russel is over 40 and twice as hot as both of them too.

But she's plain. Every time I've seen her (Village and magazine pix) she is plain. Dunst (a fave actress) is also plain. I wonder why Raimi doesn't put hot girls in. After all, the geek-gets-a-hottie thing plays heavily in the Spidey mythos. Tobey Maguire is better looking than either of those two. I'd agree that Lohan would;ve been a good MJ, and Bosworth pre-anorexia would have been a good MJ. There are still plenty of hot blondes he could've picked for Gwen, but I think he wants to make a point....i.e, he's all about the acting, not the look. Oh well
July 24, 2006, 11:53 a.m. CST
The Lizard ia a very unoriginal villian and he would look ridiculous in a movie. It's cool that they have a Dr. Connors in the movie to add continuity to Peter Parker's world, but we don't need Lizard. There are many other great villians to choose from.

I believe that Sandman will have his accident pretty early on in the film and that Parker will spend most of the movie chasing him. Brock, on the other hand, will have his storyline unfold over the course of the film and we probably won't actually see Venom until 1/2-2/3 of the way into the film. I imagine the whole Harry Osborne thing will be resolved, more or less, at the beginning. Hopefully, this movie will have more action than S2, which was still great even with only a few major set pieces.
July 24, 2006, 1:49 p.m. CST
There are too many villians in one movie.Three villians is too much. They could have at least had two bad guys, unless this is gonna be the last movie. I heard a rumor Raimi wants to leave after part 3, what u guys think?.
July 24, 2006, 2:06 p.m. CST
Tobey is nowhere near as hunky as Peter Parker was in the comic books (at least once he reached college). If that is a nerd, give me nerds for days! I have to say though, Yack, that if that is Raimi's approach, we should not pretend that Dunst's MJ is a model. An off Broadway actress, yes. A billboard perfume ad model - no. When they were filming that in downtown LA, my friend and I looked at it and just laughed.
July 24, 2006, 2:11 p.m. CST
And Raimi didn't really take advantage of it. Her MJ is seriously depressing.
July 24, 2006, 2:41 p.m. CST
and neither is Gwen Stacey. The one thing Hollywood has is an excess of super-hot actresses. I don't understand why Raimi keeps hiring "cute" actresses to play hot comicbook chicks. Yea, The MJ of SpidermanII was a royal pain in the ass and a shitty actress.

I really have no idea what is going on with Sony I thought originally there was going to be 6 films. I tought Raimi was down for doing that and fuck Tobey and Dunst if they didn't want to do them, kill MJ in 3 and recast Parker for 4-6. I hope they do this because it sounds like there is a lot to do in this one movie. I also heard that one rumor there was 4 fights in this movie. So one for Goblin, One for Sandman, one for Sandman and Goblin? and one for Venom? If they wrap everything up in this movie I'll be pissed, that means not only will Harry most likely die but Venom will be defeated and Sandman too. How is this happening in one movie? I'm excited and nervous at the same time because I really don't want the series to end, I want to see Kraven and Mysterio on screen. But oh well if it has to end I guess it should end with a bang.
July 24, 2006, 3:26 p.m. CST
It all fits? A big 2 hour war without Aunt May or Peter talking about great power equaling responsibility. If you cut all that out of the last two films, you pretty much get this, right? How hard is to to have MJ and/or somehow involved with bringing the symbiot and Peter together and then the symbiot takes over Peter while he's dealing with Sandman/trying to bang Gwen. Break it up introducing the Topher characeter and maybe throw in a Green Goblin fight. Two hours of fun
July 24, 2006, 3:40 p.m. CST
Does kinda make sense, but I'm pretty sure Venom is brought back from space, most likely with MJ's ex-fiance (he was an astronaut) And if I remember correctly, sandman was created after he escaped jail, was washed up onto a beach with like a powerplant on it, and a meltdown occured and he fused with the sand. I'm not sure if they'll do it the same way though.
July 24, 2006, 3:46 p.m. CST
I love Raimi but will someone PLEASE give him his career defining film, the man is on fire now....he's making a comic book movie with so much depth and complexity in characters that I think he could truly create the best movie of all time given the right cast. I mean c'mon, we're all wondering who is the true villian in a movie with 3 villian characters, but none of them are truly villanous....goblin is grief ridden, eddie brock is just a tool, sandman is protecting a little girl in his poster The Villan in this could seriously be spiderman, with the last act dealing with the fallout of his actions... Damn good movie making!!!
July 24, 2006, 3:58 p.m. CST

Venom is in the movie, and for much more than three seconds. There is a final four-way battle with Sandman and Venom against Spider-Man and the Harry Goblin. And, yeah, Bryce is fat. Sorry, but there's nothing wrong with being trim and athletic-- just because a girl doesn't have rolls doesn't make her anorexic. Dunst, whose facial features aren't classically beautiful, has an incredible body. Just wanted to objectify for a moment.
July 24, 2006, 6:32 p.m. CST
about models, but Dunst just doesn't look like one. She's not a celebrity model, just a model. It's not worth nitpicking over, but not believable even in Spidey-world. OR her landing an astronaut, for that matter. Which is just another one of those wierd too convenient things.
July 24, 2006, 6:32 p.m. CST

July 24, 2006, 7:36 p.m. CST
I noticed it in The Village, and obviously directors see this in her because she has been cast as this type of character three times now. It's something about her eyes, I think. There are other actresses like this, Claire Danes, for example, who while they aren't classically pretty, have a face that just lights up when the camera is on them. So, thumbs up for Bryce as Gwen. Interesting actress.
July 24, 2006, 7:42 p.m. CST
Did anybody ASK Raimi straight up about why the 'black-suit' is just the the red/blue suit in grey/black? I mean, they could have started the film off with Spider-Man getting his ass kicked/costume shredded by Sandman and Pete has finds refuge in a sewer. All the while a biomedical company dumps a drum of bacteria-gook into the sewer which becomes the symbiote. Was it that hard? The real black-suit would have looked incredible on film and made the Spider-Man films the best comic book movies ever. Unfortunately, all we get is a kind of bigger spider-man that looks like the one from the black-suit. Hey, since they also got Optimus Prime wrong....why don't we do a GI Joe movie and give Snake-Eyes a green-leather outfit and make him a computer-hacker instead of a ninja.
July 24, 2006, 8:21 p.m. CST
If Heigl had been cast as MJ, that would've been closer to the comics, because MJ was like, a hella hot model and all that and everyone was like, "how the fuck did a nerd like parker end up with HER?". but having cute chicks is probably better in the long run because it's showing that the movies are popular and good for what they are, as opposed to just cheap T&A for nerds (like that lame-ass "z0mg, they should've had Jenna Jameson as MJ!"). as is, though, i'm happy with the way these movies have been. so long as they keep lame-asses like Vulture & Kraven out of the series, it's straight. if they only use the good villains (to my mind - Venom, Carnage, Hobgoblin, Lizard, Shocker and Mysterio), they've got enough for like, 3 more movies XD
July 24, 2006, 11:39 p.m. CST
watch spider-man 2 again and pay attention to the scene where Pete goes to the doctor. A guy who turns to sand? venom? My spidey sense is warning me of a brilliant plot twist. What's "real" anyway?
