It's Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen day on AICN! Their next project is... SUPER BAD!!

Published at:  Jul 14, 2006 8:33:25 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I just finished reading Moriarty's nice set report from Apatow and Rogen's KNOCKED UP and low and behold... there's news of their next collaboration on the world wide web, a film called SUPER BAD.

It doesn't look like Apatow is going to direct, sadly, but Rogen will co-star. I recently rewatched 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN and laughed more than I did the first time I saw it. Still holds up, especially the back and forth between Rogen and Paul Rudd.

Apatow will produce the flick and Rogen is writing it with Evan Goldberg. Greg Mottola, who directed many episodes of UNDECLARED, will direct. The story is about two high school seniors (played by Jonah Hill and Michael Cera) who set out to score some booze for a party believing that if they have alcohol girls will want to hook up with them. If they hook up with girls, then and only then will they be ready to move onto high school. Of course, chaos ensues.

Jonah Hill was fucking hilarious in his brief bit in 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, the fat kid trying to buy those badass disco boots from Catherine Keener. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing him carry a film with ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT'S Michael Cera. What do you folks think?

    Cool casting

    by brendon

I liked Jonah Hill a lot.

More cool casting news - this time relating to Grind House - at: http://tinyurl.com/jp3oz

Judd Apatow is, for my money, a better director than Gregg Motola, but this is very likely to come out as a very funny film.

The Knocked Up set report was very, very convincing. I have few doubts in the film now.

Michael Cera was awesome in AD. I'll have a hard time putting that character out of my mind, but I'll try.

a potential masterpiece of squirmingly uncomfortable comedy. awesome to see george michael on the bigscreen, although also not awesome because we now have to face the fact that AD is truly gone . . .

"we've all seen better"... well, duh. What, it has to be the best comedy in the history of the universe to merit our appreciation? No, it's no Dr. Strangelove or Network, but Apatow and Rogen have created some damned fine entertainment for us and I look forward to their next project. So don't be such a sourpuss.

But Jonah Hill and Michael Cera are some seriously funny fuckers. I was amazed at how George Michael Bluth managed to always be just as much a contender for favorite character as Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and David Cross. He's not "really good for someone that young," he's fantastic on his own terms. And the little bit I've seen from Jonah Hill is fantastic, he has his own schtick going and I can't wait to see him in Accepted. Speaking of him, does anyone watch the show "Campus Ladies"? It stars Jonah Hill and features cameos from the likes of Paul Reubens, Will Forte, and Justin Long, and it's really hysterical for an Oxygen channel show about 50-something women who decide to enroll in college.

What? It was 3:00 in the morning and I have insomnia. Still funny. The cute little virgin chick from Undeclared was sucking Steve Carrell's toe. Rogen and Apatow get a free pass from me at this point. Add George Michael Bluth into the mix and, to quote Tobias Funke, "I blue myself."

    by doc_mccoy

Mark my words, if Greg Mottola is able to execute this well, and they casted it correctly (I have no idea who the two kids are that they hired), this will go down as a classic high school comedy.

So glad Michael Cera is getting work...

    by danielkurland

Will Arnett's emmy nomination was long overdue, but really, Cera deserved one more. Watch the final four AD episodes, and he is just doing a phenomenal job. I am really looking forward to this now, and for those interested, Michael Cera has a band, and it has a myspace, search "The Long Goodbye". They're not bad.

    Hey THE WALLASS

    by lando griffin

Thats quite an original thought there fella. Never in the history of talkback has what you stated been said before. To build upon that brilliant thought you are no doubt going to write about on your hip, sarcastic, witty blog, what this site really needs is someone to delete the repetitive posts ABOUT the "repetitive posts by talk backers whining about the same shit cuz they're too lazy to check if their compaint as already been stated." And so on and so on and so on. Such is the Circle of the Talkback. Learn it, live it, suck it. But then again I guess because I was the last in a series of people to point it out, and perhaps because you just noticed it, I was just the lucky recipient of your haymaker packed wrath of witticism which is usually unleashed in your frustrated, rage filled masturbating with SOS pad sessions. I do apologize for the inconvenience I caused to your reading of the talkback. It was an admitted mistake however I am lead to believe that if not me, you would've have found some other unassuming talkbacker to take your righteous talkback vendetta out on. You sir a pioneer and no doubt a founding father to your cause. Because as the world currently stands there are not enough swollen douchebags out there, especially on the internet.
