Amy Sedaris And The Ninja Princesses!! More SHREK THE THIRD Voice Casting & Plot Points Revealed!!

Published at:  Jul 13, 2006 9:48:08 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

href="mailto:merrick@aintitcool.com">Merrick here...

A new Hollywood Reporter article features a bit of information about SHREK THE THIRD, which is...in case you couldn't figure it out from that title...the third installment in SHREK theatrical franchise.

The article says that (alongside returning leads Mike Meyers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas) Ian McShane will voice Captain Hook, Eric Idle will perform Merlin (which I believe had been announced previously), and Amy Sedaris (STRANGERS WITH CANDY) joins the cast as Cinderella.

How does Cinderella show up? HR says this:

The next installment of the smelly ogre's saga, set for release next year, will star an elite, ninja-like strike force of fairy tale princesses voiced by Amy Sedaris as Cinderella, Amy Poehler as Snow White, Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel and Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty.

Organized by Princess Fiona, the ladies underground resistance movement fends off a coup d'etat by Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) in the land of Far, Far Away.

And, yes, Justin Timberlake is still "Artie" (aka King Arthur).

Some folks give the SHREK films a lot of grief. Personally, I think they're a blast and I'm curious to see how this project shakes out. I'm concerned that too much of the same "gimmick" based storytelling (i.e. endless anachronism - or variations on the same themes) might lead to the series "beating a dead horse". I'd even say it came close the alst time around. But...for now...

"http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002838743" target=parent>YOU CAN READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE (INCLUDING MORE PLOT POINTS AND VOICE CASTING) HERE!!!

The film arrives next May.

I thought the first one was really a great surprise, a good balance of children and a bit more mature humour... An suprisingly good, fun acting from actors that had lost a LOT of credibility as comics and actors. The second one was propably a kinda logical step, but it is a downhill road. I liked the second still but I don't think there is much more to use now or more places to go. So, I don't think no3 will be good.. But I want it to be so I'll probably see it anyway...

    by varakor

only because it parodied so many of the classic fairy tales and was just balls out funny. to me, th ebest of the first was the torture of the gingerbread man. Drowning a cookie in milk? That's funny as hell!! The second was good, it had its share of laughs and I loved the ending (though the whole donkey have kids, just creeps me out with the hybrid dragon donkeys). the third, if they use the formula for the first one, which is full on parody of the fairy tales then I'm in. aahhh screw it I'm in anyway, i love shrek.

The ONLY time I laughed during 2 was when the villagers run screaming out of one Starbucks and run into another Starbucks across the street. THE. ONLY. TIME. And Lewis Black and "Best In Show" already used the "Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks" bit years ago, so it already had whiskers on it when Shrek 2 used it. But it made a billion dollars, so it must be good. Right? Right?

I havent seen cars yet. but from i hear the story might not be much good but that it is visually superior to anything that Dreamworks still put out or anyone else for that matter. I hear that they are cutting back on thier thier live action movies. The only thing that we movie folks care about is quality and i think Disney has at long last realised that quality is better then quantity. Disney it seems to me is restructuring. and that can only mean one thing that eventually Disney will return to kicking Jeffery and rivals asses all over again. I cant wait for that to happen.

    Mike Myers.

    by emeraldboy

The stories that I have heard about Mike Myers is that he is an arogant bastard who bullies everyone on the filmsets of his movies. Dana Carvey hated working with myers, because Myers greed as a comic is legendary, look at the second waynes world film. Carvey is virtually banished from that movie, guess who overshadows the whole thing, thats right Mike Myers. The first Austin powers film was very funny. The second movie more then aptly demonstrates Myers overinflated ego. Myers plays 3 characters!!, only Dr evil was funny and verne troyer was the only reason to see that movie. The third film was clumsy, badly structured, the intro was hilarious with all the major stars ie mikes friends putting in a cameo. but then the film slid into a horrible mess, goldmember was a disgutingly crude character as was fat bastard. THESE WERENT FUNNY. Myers believed in his own little world, that liverpool was cool(er, right mike) and that doing a scots accent was a funny as billy connolly. Connolly you may remember mads one joke about kenneth bigley and well we dont hear too much from him these days, garfield 2 is hardly a comeback. point is people think myers is funny and he sure as hell aint all that funny. Move on mike.

    by moondoggy2u

Dreamworks took one look at Disney's highly successful "Disney Princess" line or whatever the heck its called and decides to make an irreverant copy--err..parody--for their third movie. Since the tweenagers dont give a rip, this movie will probably dethrone Pirates 2, which will be dethroned by Pirates 3, which will be dethroned by Spiderman 3, which still wont topple titanic. Anyway, I really hate Shrek ;^)

my thoughts on the shrek flicks....

    by jig98

yes. they are overrated, obvious, cheesy at times, tiresome by a certain point, filled with FAR too many celeb voices{so was almost every single simpsons episode in the 1st 11 years} and a pop culture reference, pun and in-joke filled computer animated saga...no, they don't suck. and yeah, also interesting promotional tie-ins to go with them. the animation is good looking, the voice acting is perfect, the stories have been told many times before in live action movies and they have new messages, chuckles and ideas. that's pretty much it. i have mentioned this in dozens of other talkbacks as well, the 1st shrek is somewhat of a masterpiece, therefore deserved the 1st animated oscar and the second just wasn't that great but the animation was an improvement and the charectors also got a personality upgrade, with the addition of pussy in boots. so if there is anything to say about the 3rd movie is 4 little words. "hope for the best".
