Sony has been CURSEd with Chow Yun Fat's GOLDEN FLOWER, if you know what I mean...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an update for you Asian cinema fans out there. Zhang Yimou, who directed HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, has a flick starring Chow Yun Fat and the beautiful Gong Li called CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER. They call it a "martial arts romantic drama" in Hollywood Reporter. HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, SHAOLIN SOCCER, CHINESE GHOST STORY, HEROIC TRIO and HERO choreographer Tony Ching Siu-Tung will be on hand to make sure the action is up to par. Looks like Sony Pictures Classics has dibs on this flick, at least in North and Latin America. Pretty cool, eh?

Heard about this film awhile ago. I'm a fan of Chow Yun Fat, Zhang Yimou and Wuxia so I'm looking forward to this film. Can't wait!

...maybe this time it won't be cut, unlike HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS and KUNG FU HUSTLE. I'm scared what they're going to do for a poster - KUNG FU HUSTLE had the ugliest eyesore of a poster in Sony Classics' history - nothing but a yellow photoshop abortion. This one actually has "golden" in the title - god only knows what they'll do this time. And who the fuck thought CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER was a better title than CITY OF THE GOLDEN ARMOUR, which is what this used to be called?
