Josh Hartnett grabs his coat, a few wooden stakes and prepares for 30 DAYS OF NIGHT!!!

Published at:  Jun 16, 2006 1:06:47 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some news for ya' horror lovers out there. Steve Niles and Brian Templesmith's comic series 30 DAY OF NIGHT is in the works. We know that. Word is they're looking to film in New Zealand. Now they've attached Josh Hartnett to star, as one of a husband and wife duo of law-enforcers in a small Alaskan town. This town experiences 30 full days without sunlight during their winter and a gang of nasty vamps take full advantage of that.

I think Hartnett gets a lot of shit from fandom (sometimes justifiably), but I think he's got his own brand of charisma going on. I thought he was great in LUCKY NUMBER SLEVEN recently. He's still looking for that perfect role, I think. Will it be 30 DAYS OF NIGHT? I don't know, but I do know that the comic was really damn cool, so count me hopeful.

    Don't matter.

    by hk_cavalier

Regardless of how Hartnett came across in other films, this is going to be a studio adaptation. Therefore the odds of goodage are hugely stacked against it. Tank Girl, anyone?

I didn't mind him in his short bit in Sin City or in Slevin, but I'm not crazy about him.

    They should incorporate this with

    by seppukudkurosawa

the sequel to 40 Days and 40 Nights. This time Missa Hartnett must spend 30 days trying to avoid some hot vampy bitches from sinking their fangs into his wang, which is notoriously harder because of their hypnotic vampyr powers, hence them taking off 10 days. Ma-ha-n, just make a straight adaptation of I am Legend, who needs this shite?

Didn't see someone else had already done it. Kind of cool concept for a movie. Will probably suck with this shite director and wooden star.

Sin City and now 30 Days of the Night, what was that quote about him not wanting to do comic book movies? Fuck him in the ass...

...ok I feel guilty because I actually liked the Virgin Suicided...now I'm all sad and shit.

He was ok in Sin City.. Other than that I really do hate him.

He should get pistolwhipped just before the "Action!" cue. That way the cocky smartass look might go away and he would look normal instead.. Or he would look recently beaten, bewildered and hurt. Either way, it could work.

for sure. And I'm not gay. He's just too purdy. I'd stick it in his pooper and pound that ass 40 days and 40 nights before I'm done.

He's who was long rumoured, and who was Niles personal choice for the film (last I heard anyway)...unless he's playing someone else in the film.

Whatever happened to Mighty Joe Hallenbeck?

    by seppukudkurosawa

Oh yeah he was sent down for pirating Disney movies. That was a sad day for AICN...he had bigger balls than Quint, and he made Mori's slight tetchiness come across like the bleating of Bambi. He could've been somebody, he could've been a contender. Instead of his cell-mate's sex-toy, which is what he is.

however I'm not ready to forgive him yet. The only thing he was in that I enjoyed was The Faculty (Sin City cameo doesn't count). Remember Hollywood 'Here is your check Mr Ford' Homicide? 40 Days 40 Nights was also completely horrible. "You know when you look so darned cute as me it's hard not to have sex with hot bitches for a month." Boo. Fucking. Hoo.

    Too Young

    by media fiend

I've got no real gripe with Hartnett, sometimes he can be quite effective. But he's about 10 years too young. I hope this isn't a sign of them WB'ing this movie.

I thought this was gonna be something cool. I loved the comic book etc. Oh well, it could've been worse. It could've been Ashton Kutcher or *gulps* Ryan "Cock-Guzzling-Thunder-Cunt" Reynolds!!

Can Hartnett get a new hairstyle and an acting lesson?

    by doc_strange

The man is always so wooden and that bowl haircut isn't helping him any. Has he even been in a good movie ever? Sin City, maybe but that was a cameo.

The comic that this is based on is really over rated

    by mace13

I seriously don't get why everyone went ga ga over this comic. The story was pretty simplistic and not very good. The main plot idea about vampires in a town where it's night for 30 days was copied from a couple of other sources that had originally done this same idea. One source which was something like the new twilight zone(80's version) or Monsters or something like that. I remember the episode but just not what show it was from.
This was just an ok book but nothing spectacular the way all the original hype made it out to be when this first came out. I was honestly disappointed in it after reading it. The artwork is one of the best things about it and ya know thats not going to be translated through to the movie version.
It'll be interesting to see just how closely the movie follows the book.I'm hoping not too closely or it will be a forgetable movie.
