FIRST...
MTV sucks -
that is all.
-
thank you perverts.
-
hey, when in Rome.
-
okay my job is done here.
-
Where's the friggin trailer? It showed at The Omen and everyone was pissing themselves. Anyone seen a downloadable version online?
-
before Aicn did. what gives.
-
...that Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar hosted. That "Fellowship of the Ring" spoof is a classic.
-
I guess technically they do, but only 30 second clips. MTV has lost what little entertainment it had when they started all their "reality" and horrible teen dating shows.
-
Should have been Obi-Wan vs Anakin + Yoda vs Sidious. So I liked Episode 3, wanna fight about it?

The perk for working at Sony was meeting Jessica Alba
by r.c. the "wise"
She's more gorgeous in person believe it or not. Moreover, she's a kind person as well. What I wouldn't pay to trade places with her boyfriend Cash? Also got to attend the awards last week. It was bizarre having the awards in Studio 28.

She looks so bland though she's not sexy just cute...
-
i used to be one of those people who cried about MTV not playing music videos.. then mtv2 came along (before it just turned into MTV) and for the first few months all they did was play videos...and it was BORING. 20 years have passed since we were entertained by just music video after music video.. mtv(and mtv2)were smart to stop playing all music videos, thats why they're still relevent in youth culture.(yeah big news flash, mtv is for 13-20 year olds.) plus if you really want to watch music videos now its quite easy to download any one of the you want to see from the web or direct TV. times change my friends, times change.
-
Won't spoil them for anybody, but they all really stink. That best Villain award, whoo boy. And who couldn't predict where the Best Kiss is going? Completely uninspired, all of them. I'm surprised Van Helsing isn't represented. Whoops, SPOILER there.
-
The only time to watch music videos if you are unlucky enough to not have MTV2 or a fast enough internet connection to download them is only between the hours of 4 AM and 6 AM on MTV or VH1. MTV plays almost all young teenager crap and VH1 has gone almost all to hell showing nothing but celebrity shit (shows like Paris Hilton's Greatest BM's for instance). And hey if you're bored by music videos on MTV2 then don't watch and don't complain. If I had it I would keep it on the channel most of the time and just look to my TV as a visual jukebox. At least VH1 has had their tribute to metal here lately. Oh yeah and on topic, big up to Christian Bale for winning the new award Best Hero for Batman Begins. I just wish they had not gotten rid of the best action sequence award (the chase from King Kong in the jungle with the dinosaurs could have been nominated and the dragon chase sequence from Harry Potter 4 could have won.
-
Except when Vince Vaughan refused to give the painting back. "Hey, that was a gift!" ... And Herc's right, the "Remember when MTV used to play videos" line is almost a decade old at this point. I vote for retiring it.
-
seriously. ive hated MTV for years. even when i was an impressionable teen, i knew it was a bullshit station. These award shows are crap, too, BTW. and the lack of Music on Music TeleVision (cause thats what that stands for, remember?) reflects how IRRELEVANT the station has become outside of the worlds of various 11-14 year old girls. Oh, and I want to punch Kurt Loder in the throat. that old fuck.
-
... ah, fuck it, I'm too bored to think something clever up.
-
THE DA VINCI CODE? KING KONG? Fuck that, where's my SUPERMAN RETURNS and X-MEN: THE LAST STAND parodies? I need me some DVD Easter Eggs!
-
I like how he's listed as a presenter as though he's a real person. Most people probably still think he is! I too want to see the trailer. It was on the Omen but can't see it anywhere online. They better not cut it to achieve an R-rating (although even if they do, it will be on the DVD).
-
But I think I might check this year's movie awards anyway....they sometimes have some funny parodies/skits.
-
Get it? Because he's old, and MTV doesn't play videos because they're old news, and...
ah, forget it. -
that is all
-
Are any of th past shows pit on DVD? I've never been able to find them.
-
Nope, neither do I. Taking shots at the Talkbackers in every update is getting old. We get it: you are secretly a fourteen-year-old girl obsessed with reality television and talking in the third person. It's old hat. How is this hack still working for you, Harry? Why not hand off Coax to someone else? I mean, the main site has Harry, Drew, Quint, and Merrick, plus the second-tier guys like Vern and Massawyrm. Compared to that, Coax is a bombed-out hellhole.
-
Great post. A bit harsh, I say, but in the immortal words of the Seinfeld fan: "It's funny cause it's true!"
-
Have a care Mutwat X or run the risk of fanning the embers of my wrath! Any fan of Buffy/Whedon is okay in my book. Glodene has spoken!

anymore and as I far as I am concerned. good ridance
-
Ahh what's a foine broth of a lad suchas yourself doin' hatin' on Mtv? Sick of them overlooking Leprechaun in the Hood for best picture?
-
Never. Though I would agree I don't think Herc really resonates with her audience. Maybe if we were teeny boppers we would care about Buffy, reality TV, MTV, and teen girl squad with "nubile girls" on The N, but we aren't, and we don't. No slight intended to Buffy fans, by the way, I was just using a little hyperbole there. Nothing wrong with it, but Herc basically has a far different taste than most anyone who comes to this site and it shows in spades as she continuously picks articles that the demographic here would not be interested in, continuously uses language ripped from Entertainment Weekly that is merely an annoyance to most, and continues to be out of touch. This would work great on a different site, maybe, but it really clashes with the tone and feel of this one.
-
By "Never" I meant that to me Massa is and always will be top tier.
-
I think there is room for a hipper version of the Oscars, but the MTV awards suck.
-
What the fuck are they talking about?
-
and for the most annoying commercials anywhere.
-
i dunno, but i love it! we, the collective, call for an ouster of the she-bitch, and declare coax to be ruled by anarchy...or merrick, i dunno, does he watch a lot of tv? shit, who gives a fuck about any of this anyway
-
1) his real-life fianc
-
Or Chris Gaines. The media would refer to them as seperate people, mostly out of respect for the artist portraying them.
-
wow. how'd she stay 14 for all these years? and whatever the answer, how can i get some?
-
Yes we do. Chorus channel 12, this an broadcast from England.
-
That piece o fshit movie won a fuckin' award? God MTV sucks balls.
-
I'm pretty sure it's on Sky and NTL too. And earlier, I meant to say is not 'an'.
-
is Christina's performance. Was there and it was great. The song is hot.(it was at the beginning, but apparently they filmed out of order)

"I'm sorry Superman...but Batman...he's the badass..." - Christian Bale to Brandon Routh

for getting rid of the bloody nipples. Giving some dignity back to Batman. -- Bale (Classic.)
-
So they have possibly the first-ever handshake between the new Superman and the new Batman, and we don't get even a half-decent shot of it?
-
cool.
-
You are right...they should have seen that coming to do a low angle dolly shot of it.
-
anakin vs. obi-wan...i mean its no contest

they were doing so good with Batman getting best hero....then they pull this crap....

Cillian Murphy got robbed in Best Villian. Hayden is a twat...did you see how aloof and unappreciative he was when he accepted it? Damn glad Bale got best Hero...deserved best movie too. Wedding Crashers IS a great movie..but not BEST movie.

Fuck/Marry/Kill: J. Alba, Isla Fisher, K. Beckinsale?
by voice o. reason
Discuss.
-
Fuck Beckinsale, Marry Fisher, Kill Fisher, Fuck Fisher...In that order. I know I'm breaking the rules, but hey, I have my own demons to battle.
-
Even with Alba hosting i just didn't care enough to tune in. Oh well perhaps i'm to old now to care about MTV.
-
Christensen winning over Murphy and Fines is one of the many reasons I can't stomach MTV anymore. I'm g;ad i didn't tune in. Vader the best villian, Please.
-
Nuff said.
World's Finest anyone? -

Founder, all of your geek points have just been revoked
by crazyeyezkillah
For both reasons.
-
but not worth watching this lame ass award show. When did it become stupid? It used to be funny.
-
...in his natural accent. His scenes with Michael Caine would be even more awesome that way.
-
just wonderin' is all.
-
how was AFI by the way? I'm kind of really into them and wanted to see them live but didn't get around to watching the show. And Isla Fisher is just EXTREMELY...well, you know.
-
There weren't even any funny sketches in the thing. Fuck Mtv.
-
I don't watch mtv but in that picture he looks bigger than Bale. Routh IS Superman. When will people realize he's perfect for the role?
-
...right in front of them. In his acceptance speech he basically said that Batman is a badass and Superman is teh ghey. Perhaps a bit childish but funny, nonetheless.
-

After Bale's comment, I DEMAND A WORLD'S FINEST FILM!!!
by r.c. the "wise"
WARNER BROS. MAKE THAT SHIT HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT 6 YEARS! THX.
-
They have become a catch phrase insult.
-
yeah I hate MTV too, blah blah, no videos, blah blah but the Movie Awards are still fun to watch. its the *only* thing left on MTV worth watching IMO.
Bale wasn't making some childish snipe at Superman, they're both grownups. Bale in fact, did not say anything bad about Superman at all Batman fans have a lot to celebrate though. Joel Schumaker singlehandedly trashed the previous Batman franchise. To see it revived to such good quality is a wonderful thing.
Anyway, as much as I despise the Star Wars franchise right now, ROTS did deserve best fight. Hayden did *NOT* deserve best villian though. Should have been Murphy's -
Vader *is* the best villian. Hayden, however, was just the fuckhead in the suit.
-
...though R Kelly performing his gay epic live was quite the moment of genius...oh and last year's epic tribute to Puff Dad...sorry, I mean to Biggie...
-
and thought it was extremely boring and unfunny. And, I usually enjoy the shit out these shows. It seemed really tame for these sort of things. I really didn't like the sketches too. The kid from SNL's google thing was just a ripoff of David Cross' sketch that he did a couple of years ago and it wasn't even funny. I'm not an MTV basher at all, I'm just disappointed. Maybe I'm just getting old and tired. I actually thought the best thing about the whole show was Christina Aguilera's performance. Yikes...please be gentle with me.
-
no reason. jim carrey deserves the generation award for a stellar comedic career. liked the m:i3 spoof with topher grace and flava flav and christian bale with his right on remark about batman being the badass over superman after winning best male performance . batman begins is the SHIT! how come liam neeson didn't get a nod for best villian? and where the hell was vince vaughn?
-
"I actually thought the best thing about the whole show was Christina Aguilera's performance."
I agree. That and Bale winning Best Hero. -
best whiney assed wus.
-
...and I can't even watch this crap. God, it was nigh unwatchable. Is anyone else sick to death of Will Ferrell? What in god's name is John C Reilly doing with that one note ass clown?
-

Know why it doesn't bother me MTV doesn't play music?
by voice o. reason
Because music today sucks. We should be GLAD that MTV doesn't play more than 2 or 3 hours of music a day.
-
Congrats. I've never met a real life sheep herder before. Must be cool. Thanks for squeezing last last ounce of individuality out the young people. Sleep well.
-
Man, fuck Jessica Simpson. That dumb bitch needs to be smacked to death. The only time I ever watch MTV anymore is when I've got a few friends with me. Even then, with our constant naysaying and mockery of the shows, it's only mildly amusing. We try to pick out what was faked and what wasn't. You know all those dating shows are fake. Not entirely, but somewhat. Maybe that's what all mtv viewers do these days? Beats me. But try it out sometime. It can be rather intriguing. And yes, the show really was quite dull and stupid. Unfortunately, I am not a 14 year old girl, so it seems the general allure of the show was lost on me.
-
Not only did the show suck, but the talkback did too. Last year there were some great rants about Puff Daddy, just about everybody was accused of being racist and there was an exceptionally stupid "debate" about about rap music. This year, there's basically nothing left to do but call Herc a 14 year old girl. Yawn. At least AFI looked so goofy they were mildly amusing.
-
Does he get paid to do this? Or is really that obsessed with Buffy?
-
Let's look at the Herc fetish: Buffy...Check. Gilmore Girls...Check. Veronica Mars...Check. Smallville...Check. The whole "Herc is a 14 year old girl thing" isn't the issue. It's "Are we okay with that?" And I am. Herc, I salute your fruitiness, and respect it.
-
...it's more like 12 year old girls, much like our friend Herc.
-
Remember when the M stood for Music instead of Marketing or youth Manipulation?
-
You gotta marry Beckinsale. Don't know much about Fisher, but I could see Alba getting god-damn annoying. Plus the accent is hot and she seems to have half a brain. Gotta fuck alba. I mean Fisher is really hot too, but alba.. god damn! So adious Fisher.
-
what the fuck is Routh supposed to do..go over to Bale and fight him? Jesus Christ...guess your parents never taught you how to separate movies from reality.
-
My Mommy and Daddy don't hold my hand...I learned it in REAL LIFE!
Though, they did however, teach me the words YOU and TO, guess we can't say the same for you. -
haha, what a dipshit
-
He just put the talkbacks up cause we begged for them.
-
I'm sorry, about the 50 character limit. I'm part of the reason it was enforced. >_<
-
Subjects are for...*gasp*..SUBJECTS. Coincidentally, the "Your Comment" section is for..*faint* your comment!!! Funny how it works out like that if you use the TB the way it was intended. Try to remember that for the future.
